We have a trip to the LAND planned for this fall. DD3 (currently 9 months) is in a rhino cruiser to try to correct her hips. I'm praying she's out of it by the time we go, but if the brace doesn't fix it, she may end up needing surgery/spica cast.

Has anyone dealt with this situation? She's not very big but I can't carry her all day in lines etc. Would this be a reason to get a "stroller as wheelchair" pass? I don't want to milk the system, but I've got a terrible back and carrying her all day will make me miserable.

I cannot see a much better reason for a stroller as a wheelchair tag than this.

That's a perfectly acceptable reason for needing the stroller-as-wheelchair tag. Unless there are other needs, you will not get a DAS, just the stroller tag which allows you to bring the stroller through the lines.

DD wore a Pavlik harness for 5 months as an infant, but she was much younger. That must be challenging for you both. Best of luck to your little one!

Enjoy your vacation!

I just want to send a few words of support. My son was adopted at age three and had hip dysplasia that had never been treated. One of the first things we had to do was surgery for his hip. He spent 6 weeks in a spica cast. We later found out that there was scar tissue in the hip and we had to do the surgery again. Once again he was back in the spica for another 6 weeks. It wasn't so bad. He crawled around and could even rolled over. We did all the things that we normally did-- including a 1500 mile car trip (with doctor's approval) and a camping trip.
