Suggestions for tonight, Fri, and Sat?

I'm traveling to California later today for a business trip. I am heading to DLR tonight and Friday night, and I'm planning a full day there on Saturday (with early entry). Although my family and I average 2 trips/yr to WDW, I haven't been to DL for about 20 years. I'm going solo and want to hit the major attractions -- epecially those that are different from WDW/unique to DLR.

  1. I expect to get to DLR around 8pm tonight. What would others suggest I do with about 3 hrs? I'm not big into F!, WoC, or parades/fireworks.
  2. Since I'll also be getting to the parks later on Friday, would I do better at DL or CA in terms of lines?
  3. What should I expect on Saturday in terms of crowds, given it's a summer weekend and the 55th anniversary?

Thanks for your advice!

First, welcome to the boards. I would expect both Fri and Sat to be very busy but doable. I would head for POTC, Splash, JC, HM, and then over to Space and BLAB. Check the wait time boards and go with the flow.

When I arrive late because of travel I like to do shows because then I am on an even footing with everyone else. So I would try to do the DL fireworks or Fantasmic. If you had a group the 9:05 show would be too crowded, but if you are solo you may be able to get a decent spot.

As for rides, the list by BJD is a good one. FPs will be gone for the majors on Friday night so it is unlikely you can do Space, Indy or Splash without a long line.

But bone up on the single rider lines. You can use that for Indy and Splash on Friday night! And for the DCA rides otherwise.

If you are interested in going on Splash Mountain, when we were there 2 weeks ago we found that it was deserted--totally walk straight on--during Fantasmic. Our kids plus their cousin rode the ride over and over (and were absolutely drenched afterward). They are still talking about how fun that was.

With your late arrivals, keep in mind many rides in DCA (the pier area) are closed at 8 due to WOC.
