DS is having more than the usual kids over this weekend, some new kids I havn't met and he has given me a heads up to have diet coke...which tells me the girls may be dieting for Prom or at least not wanting to eat a bunch of chips and stuff. I am on a budget, and am having the usual that the guys ask for, Nachos, popcorn...but no pizza this time..just snacks. I thought about fresh fruit, but not really crazy about plates/silverware etc. trying to stay finger food for ease. Any ideas? My kid is notplanning to attend prom, but I get the feeling he is playing cupid for others, so I know he is hoping it isn't a bust. Thanks!

Get the low fat popcorn for the microwave or a bag of kernels to cook with a minimum of oil. You could have some baked chips, or some baked tortilla chips with salsa.

I would probably go with having some carrots and celery--teen girls seem to think that carrot sticks are the ultimate diet food! For fruit you can have some apple slices and orange slices that they can just put on a napkin to eat, whole strawberries if they are in your budget are also finger foods, just have a lot of napkins available.

As the mom of a 16 year old girl, thanks for thinking about this. Lovetoscrap's ideas are great.

DD16 and her friends enjoy Multi-grain Wheat Thins, baby carrots, and all kinds of fresh fruits at our house. Whole apples are fine. (They also eat my Lean Cuisines and Weight Watcher 2 point bars, but you don't need to go there!)

Thanks...I am going with the carrots and a basic fruit platter :goodvibes I have bottled water besides the diet soda. They guys will have their usual calorie fest of Nachos/ brownies and now he did ask for pizza ( more kids than orig planned) so the fruit and veggies will balance things out. DS just asked last night if I had *chick food*, lol...he is a swinmmer and I can't keep weight on him for anything. Our DD was a tiny thing at this age too, lucky to weigh 90 lbs soaking wet so she could eat anything as well. Not sure how on earth they are MY kids..every pound I try to put on them finds me instead.
