Suggestions for Room that will hold myself 2 parents and my 2 kids (7 &10)

I am trying to plan a surprise trip to WDW in October. My DH cannot make it due to work, so I thought I would treat my parents (who have longed to stay inside WDW, but could never afford it) to a free hotel room stay---if they could fit in a room with us (I cannot afford 2 rooms).

If staying at the AKL, I know that a Queen bed will hold me and my 2 children (ages 7 & 10) and I know that the other Queen bed would hold my parents. Is this "legal" to have 3 adults and 2 children in a Deluxe hotel room with 2 queen beds? I even think we could make it in 2 doubles (at a moderate).

Please help!

A deluxe pool view or deluxe savannah view room can be had with a daybed if noted on the reservation. That being said, if money is an issue two rooms at a value will still be less costly, plus you'll have two bathrooms and two television sets!

POR in the AB secion has trundle beds!

I would personally go with either a deluxe AKL that has the daybed or try 2 values. The trundle bed at POR is nice but I truly think the ages or your 2 kids, your parents and you would be too much for that size room. 2 values are by far cheaper then AKL and you could use the extra money to rent a car and visit other resorts/restaurants etc...

Oh and it is not legal to have 3 adults and 2 kids in a room that isn't deluxe (meaning daybed) The ones that are, you will have to pay a extra fee for that extra adult though ranging from $15-25 dollars.

I know values aren't the favs sometimes but it is by far the best value with 2 TV's, 2 bathrooms etc, some privacy for anyone .. Even 2 moderates can be less then a deluxe room at some of the deluxe resorts.

Look at www.allearsnet.com and go under accomadations. There is LOTS of photos and info about each resort.

I'd suggest going to the DVC rent/trade board and look at renting points from a DVC member so you can get a 2BR Villa at one of the DVC resorts. You might find that very affordable and have plenty of room for everyone.

Don't forget the Fort Wilderness cabins, they sleep 6.

We have a group the same as yours! My kids are even the same ages. We just stayed at POR over Spring Break and loved it! It was our second trip and I can't say enough nice things about the resort. As far as the trundle goes, my Mom and I took turns sleeping on it and it was comfy (the kids both claimed to be too scared to sleep right next to the door, I think they just wanted to be in the bed). I didn't mind sleeping on it, in fact, my Mom made me give it up a couple of nights to avoid sharing the bed with my 7 yr old daughter who's all elbows and knees when she sleeps. The size of the room was fine, but we were literally only there to sleep and get ready to go. The kids got towel arragements with their stuffed animals that were so cute. We love breakfasts at Boatwrights and the boat to DTD. There's also a great all ages family friendly piano man in the lounge at POR. Another thing we enjoyed was the contrast between the busy parks and the laid back Tom Sawyer like feel of POR. Good luck with your choices!

Have you considered the swan or dolphin with a rollaway. The rollaway charge is $25 per night, but you could bring your own aerobed etc. to cut that cost out. Do you qualify for any of the discounts they offer? Nurse, teacher, govt. worker etc.

Other options (as mentioned before) are a cabin at Ft. Wilderness or two values. We stayed in a cabin and it was so roomy! We liked being able to have a nice breakfast without going to a food court, the kitchens are great. I have a friend who doesn't think the cabins are "deluxe" enough but the quiet and privacy made it feel very "deluxe" to me !This trip we're staying in 2 rooms at Pop, the second bathroom is a big help for my older kids.

You have a few choices
1) two rooms at a resort that fits your budget (gives you two bathrooms and privacy)
2) a room at a delux that would take 5 (as already said one child in a day bed)
3) a moderate and rent a trundle bed for the 5th guest (by the time you add on cost of the extra guests and the trundle it's going to be close to the cost of two "value" resorts.
4) a cabin at Fort wilderness (sleeps 6) only one bathroom, but some privacy as it's quite a big unit and the bedroom is seperated from the living area (which houses the pull down bed). You also have a kitchen in the unit and could save costs by eating cereal/toast/bagels etc for breakfast in the room.
5) A 2 bedroom DVC unit .

Options 1,2 and 4 are all going to have a pretty similar cost. Option 3 isn't far behind on cost and would be considerably more confined.

Option 5 if rented direct from Disney would be more expensive, but does offer SPECTACULAR accommodation. Maybe going for slightly less time, but having a higher quality experience is an option to you. Alternataly you could rent points from a DVC member for your stay. This would bring the cost into line with the other options.

Finally an option for you might be to try and time your visit to make the most of the "free dining" plan that Disney is (or was last week) offering for stays from August 21 to October 4th. Book a room and ticket package ( and you only need to book one day of MYW to be eligable) and they will include the Disney dining plan for no extra cost. For your group this is about a $150 per day value and would allow you to spend a little more on the accommodation.

Over Spring Break, which I understand is a peak season time, we originally had two value rooms because POR wasn't available at first. When we were able to change to POR we saved almost $600 for 6 nights, no codes or discounts on either ressie.
