Suggestions for port adventures for 7 night Mediterranean with Greek Isles Cruise from Civitavecchia (Rome)

Looking to get some suggestions for port adventures you may have done in the past or have plans to do on an upcoming sailing we will be going to our ports will be Naples (Pompeii), Mykonos, Athens, , and Chania

any suggestions are greatly appreciated

I've been to Naples twice on cruises, once on Disney in 2018 and then last year on RCCL. The first time we went to Pompeii for the morning and then had pizza in Naples for lunch. Second time we went to Herculaneum and then pizza at the same place (it was so good, we wanted to return, Pizzeria Trianon!). Both times we did it ourselves using a Rick Steves guide and it was great - you can walk into the main station in about 30 mins or the tram is easy from Municipio station to the same, then go downstairs to get the Circumvesuviana train to either archaeological sites. We found both times that because it was so hot, a couple of hours was about our limit. No shade of course because of the ruins.

I actually preferred Herculaneum in many ways for a quick day stop, quieter, easier to buy tickets and smaller so you can manage all of it in one go. I would like to go back to Pompeii for a longer period and in the winter so I could see more - but obviously is the more famous and impressive so wouldn't dissuade you from going. Have a great trip!

We have been to those ports except Chania multiple times. Are you sailing with kids and what are there ages?

My suggestions,
Rome: if you have kids look at the Joy of Rome tours focused on kids. They were superb!
Naples/Pompeii: look into a private tour. We were not happy with the half day Pompeii, pizza, and free time in naples tour that we booked mainly because of a couple people in the group.
Athens: there was a recent thread on this. You can search for it but many suggested a private tour with PK tours. We loved them.
Mykonos: I don't think you need to book a tour. Just explore. There's a map as you arrive. Beautiful place to leisurely walk around on your own. Talk to the people. We had a delightful visit with a resident.
