Suggestions for our arrival day

We are planning on flying into Orlando the day after christmas, and staying at the HRH for three nights.

Our flight will arrive ~ 2:15, so I figure we will get to our hotel around 3:15 or so.

We will be traveling with our DS11 and DD10, and we are Universal Newbie's.

If the weather is nice, I am sure the kids would enjoy swimming in the pool for an hour, and then we can grab a bit to eat, and then rest up for two full days at the parks, starting off with WWOHP first thing in the mornings.

However, I see that a three day park ticket is not much more than a two day park ticket, and that US is a short walk away from the HRH.

So would it be worth while to go to a park for a couple hours, grab a bit in or around the park, and still get back to the room in time to get a good night sleep, for full days in the parks the following two days.

Or will it be so crowded, it really won't be worth the effort.

Also, any suggestions where we might want to eat (at least on our arrival night). I'm sure the kids will not be interested in spending a lot of time waiting for and then sitting through a long meal.

Thanks, and looking forward to hear from the experts!!!

Remember you will have express passes so the crowds won't be as much as an obstacle when you don't have to deal with the ride lines.

I guess it would depend on how long your day will be before you get there. The airport kind of wears my family out. We arrived to the hotel at 10:15 am, and went to the park. After a few hrs, we were done. Back to our hotel as soon as the room was ready, and then to the pool We were slugs from our 4 am wake up to go to the airport.

A nap and an evening at citywalk might be good. Citywalk will get everyone in the mood, and allow you to rest up.

You will be coming in on one of the busiest weeks of the year! I think you're going to find the best times at the parks will be first thing in the morning and the last few hours of the evenings. Park may be open to around 11PM. I would want to go check out the park that night when crowds are low, but if you were up early that morning it may not work for you. If you're too exhausted to take advantage of those great late hours, I'd just explore your resort, head to citywalk and dinner out then back to the room to crash. They have some fast food places at Citywalk, but I'd want a sit down after a long day. There is always a lot happening at Margaritaville so that may be a good option and would keep the kids occupied. You can make a ressie at opentable.com. If it is nice enough for the pool, a meal poolside is always great. Unfortunately, you never know what kind of weather you're going to get in FL in December.
