Suggestions for nice family vacation spot other than Disney?

Having just returned from WDW, I'm already looking for another trip for the family for March break where we could spend on a beach or rent a vacation home. We don't need to go back to Disney but I was thinking of another spot in Florida or elsewhere along the southeast.

Has anyone had good experiences in Tampa, St Petersburg or other places in Florida, and if so, where did you stay? I'd prefer to find places that aren't going to be crazy packed with college kids.

Depending on what time of year you are traveling Atlantic Beach, North Carolina or Surfside beach in South Carolina.

I've been to both and we really enjoy them for our family.

Both pretty quite and family oriented.

If you are interested in Surfside Beach I rent a place there from a fellow in Oakville.

If you're thinking March - you probably want warm - that would rule out the Carolinas.

I'd recommend these specific places which each have their own charm - and are in the southern half of Florida where you are pretty much guaranteed warmth.

* Hyatt Regency Bonita Springs (Naples/Ft Myers area)
* Marriott's Harbor Beach Resort (Ft Lauderdale)
* anywhere in the Keys - Key West or Key Largo hotels - lots to pick from
