Suggestions for dining and activities

Understood, which is why I specified straw or paper (really paper straw, not a hat made out of newsprint or something :)). Maybe along the lines of this https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product...fl_title_35?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3V6BK4D0HKA8F

Sure, but the OP/mom can't control the umbrella size, and would need to rest it right on her head to be sure not to block views.

even the ones you said trap het in

and how do you know the OP mom can not hold an unbrealla, I have use an umbrella ever trip ( ok ever trip that is hot ) and I have never had any one tell me I have blocked them

I have used it when sitting against a wall, or a riling last trip to EPCOT I saw 4 or 5 out door show and ever one I had my umbrella opened I just found a spot a little out of the way and oped it, no one said anything about it blocking there view in fact I have 3 people ask me where I got it and how great of an idea it was, and if I have seen them selling them at Disney world. ( one person spoke no Englsh and that was fun trying to talk with him) but like I said I gave the OP a suggestion and they can take it or leave it just like you can suggest something too both of what we suggest is not right or wrong it is just a suggestion that the OP can see what would work best for her and her mom.

It's not something to argue about! Suggestions were made. I believe the OP, as well as any other poster interested in these suggestions, is fully capable of picking out which suggestions best suit them.

Let's get back on track of making suggestions for the OP's trip...

Agreed. I normally travel with a hat and/or a canopy for the scooter. The canopy has problems, the hat has problems. Using an umbrella was a new idea to me, but it will have problems as well. This is something that I will discuss with my mom, and we will figure out the option that works best for us. Please, lets look at some more options to increase the the exposure to Disney I can provide my mom, while minimizing the strain on her

For evening actives, you can always consider Hoop-Dee-Do Review at Fort Wilderness; the food is excellent, and the show is still pure Disney fun, even after all these years!

We also love to do the Pirates 'N Pals Fireworks Cruise - you start with a little Dessert party at the Contemporary, meet some pirates, then go out on a boat in the Seven Seas Lagoon, watch the Electrical Water Parade and then see the fireworks (with the soundtrack piped into the boat) Bonus extra: you are guaranteed Captain Hook and Peter Pan. Photopass photographers will be there.

Any of the fireworks Desserts Parties are great - you can sit on your ECVs and munch on treats, and watch the fireworks from excellent vantage points. MK, HS & Epcot all have one. I don't believe we have seen anything like that for Rivers of Light - yet. We always

Remember that you can also visit Disney Springs; there are tons of dining options as well as shopping, and there are often live street performers as well. If you like to ride the boats, the water taxis are fun, and it's a great place to go people watch in the evenings.

Remember, regardless of the weather to hydrate hydrate hydrate - even just sitting on an ECV it's so easy to get dehydrated at WDW. I have to make a conscious effort to drink enough liquids (especially water); I get distracted because Disney! ;)

I've heard lots of good things about the Hoop-Dee-Do Review. I will need to check the time that for it. We only really have 1 day for each evening show, so if it conflicts ... we might have to forgo it (though in a pinch we could skip Illuminations!).

I'm a bit leery of the Dessert Parties. I've done a couple of them in the past (Wishes and Pirates 'n Pals both). I loved them, they are great, but I'd rather avoid the temptations of all the sweets that late in the evening considering mom's diabetes. It'll be something to keep in mind, but thanks for reminding me of them. And yeah, guaranteed to meet Hook and Smee and Peter Pan is a good thing, so that may be enough reason to go.

Thanks to all, and I'm loving the ideas.
