Planning our trip for next spring. My sons girlfriend will be joining us for her first trip to the World. She will be turning 18 on the trip, super excited. My plan is something like this, am appt BBB with the Coach pkg for her and my 2 DD's (4 and 6), then off to breakfast in the castle. Chill most of the day. The 6pm at Cirque (Downtown Disney), this will will be a first for evryone in our group, then birthday dinner. I am leaning towards a 9pm at California Grill, which is my sons favorite. Her bday is on Sat, the day for the above plan, so I am really hoping fireworks at MK @ 10pm so a ressie for CG at 9pm. DOes that sound about right? For years we've done early dinners because the girls needed to eat by 8pm. So we've never timed it for fireworks. Thinking hr before would be good. Suggestions? I would also like a birthcake, a cool cake, is CG a good option for cool and good tasting cakes? THANKS!

For cake ideas I would head over to the cake chatter thread and look it over. There are tons of advice and photos.
Next I would ask, are you giving the 18 year birthday girl a make over at BBB? Why I ask is, will she like this? It is primarly for little girls, they slick the hair back and use very "kiddie" makeup. Not sure, if she likes it more power to her but I would check that out a bit more before commiting to it...lots of $$ to waste if it isn't for her.
There is a BBB thread as well in the theme parks forum.

Now for her birthday dinner....what type of foods does she like? She is old enough to have something special in mind. Are you thinking signature? Adventure or something she already loves?

18 is a pretty special time, I can understand wanting to really go out.

How wonderful to be planning such a special 18th birthday!
Like the PP, I don't want to rain on your parade about BBB, but some 18 yr. olds would be happy with the BBB makeover and others would not. Be sure it's her style before you commit her to it. You know how kids can be. You don't want her miserable and looking to go back to the room to wash her hair!

I personally think that Cali Grill during fireworks is the ultimate birthday meal at WDW.
She will feel like the fireworks are just for her.pixiedust:

How long is the Cirque show? I'm wondering if you are allowing enough time between Cirque @ 6pm and dinner at CR @ 9pm? Will you have your own car or are you depending on Disney transportation? Remembering that they ask you to report for your ressies a few minutes early and the fact that it takes a few extra minutes to get up to the Cali Grill, it seems tight.

It looks like the Cirque show lasts 2 hrs. So that would give me 1 hr to drive from DTD back to CG. So I think the timeframe is okay.

In addrressing the "will she enjoy BBB" concern. I would have never thought to book this for her but my son said she was asking if he thought I had booked that as a suprise for her. He was toying with her aboout a surprise I was planning. She was excited about it. So I'm pretty confidant, the coach pkg, is the just the hair, nails, and makeup.

Great, sounds like a fun bonding time for her and your 4 & 6 yr.old girls. :thumbsup2

Of course, she should get her "1st Visit" and "It's My Birthday" buttons!

How about taking advantage of the pre-paid PhotoPass? Sounds like you will have lots of opportunities for special pictures.

I went to BBB for 18th, and I loved it. She will too if it's her first trip. For sure!
