I am looking for a place in MK to have a light lunch where two families can get together to meet and talk. (I realize this is a tall order).

We usually go to a QS place like Pecos Bill or Sunny Eclipse. The problem with those places, as I see it, is that they are quite noisy. For the 8 of us to get together and talk might be a challenge.

All suggestions would be appreciated.

I agree -- Columbia Harbor House, 2nd floor. There are some "nook" type areas where you could possibly have some space to yourselves. Especially if you eat early. We've eaten there at 11:00 and it was nice an quiet upstairs. Most people don't seem to venture up the stairs with their food. :)

Our group of eight had a nice quiet lunch at The Plaza at 11am. The tables were only about half full when we were there, so it felt very peaceful.

We originally had an ADR for 6, but plans changed and I was able to modify the reservation two days before.

yes, upstairs columbia harbor house! one our favorite spots!
they have large round tables too

Skipper Canteen, but ask for a server who isn't over the top with antics if you want a quiet meal. Ask for the Library it was much quieter than the mess hall.

There is a room at CHH that connects that building to the Momento Mori shop. When you pass from Fanstasyland to Liberty Square, you actually walk right under it. It is kind of out of the way of the normal dining room area upstairs, and the windows overlook that aforementioned walkway, which is great for just people watching. It is mostly filled with small tables lined down each set of windows, but there are at least two large tables in the center. We are just back from this weekend, and we found it pretty quiet, considering how crazy the crowds were. There was a line to get into CHH by 11:30am, and it stretched back towards Peter Pan.

If you were to get here on the early side, I would bet you could get the large tables in that room and converse away.

definitely Plaza! a pretty small place and I love their lunch menu! wait staff is very very nice too.

That's exactly where we sat the other year when we arrived at 11:00 on a very busy day in late June. When we left the restaurant at about 11:45, about 50% of the tables upstairs were filled so we were a little surprised when we got back downstairs and saw people standing around waiting for a table to open up and the ordering lines were all backed up outside the building.

Tony's. The booths are partitioned off so it feels pretty private. Plus everyone is down on it. So ADR should be easy...

I'll echo, Columbia harbor house, 2nd floor. The bridge across the pathway outside is awesome! You can look out the windows and people watch!

I agree with an early lunch at CHH, sitting on the second floor. I generally dislike eating at MK (counter service or table service), but did this on my last trip and it was quite pleasant.

Liberty Tree Tavern was quite good, and I imagine the a la carte menu is just as good. I thought it was quiet, for Disney anyway.

I agree with the 2nd floor of Columbia Harbor House, it's always very quiet up there when we go.

Read the thread title, instantly thought of Columbia Harbor House. Popped in to comment, and I see I'm one of many fans of the place. Lol.

The Plaza or Skipper's Canteen seem perfect. Anyone can eat at the Plaza, and the portions are so huge, you can easily split to have a lighter option.

I agree with this, but will add that the main room is decent for a group as well. Its large enough where there is sufficient distance between the tables and you can hear everyone sitting with you
