Suggestions for a Galaxy's Edge day at Disneyland

My husband and I will be at Disneyland/California Adventure for three days while he is in Anaheim for a conference. We will have one Sunday from opening until about 5PM, and I would really like to devote that time to Galaxy's Edge. I don't care one thing about it, but he loves Star Wars. Does anyone have suggestions for the best way to schedule a day that includes RotR, MFSR, Oga's, Docking Bay AND building a droid and a light saber? My reservation day is upon me! Not opposed to ILL and/or LL. Would we we have time to do any other Disneyland activities? It's okay if not -- we will be back later that week! There may be a great existing thread, but I haven't been able to easily find it. Thank you!

The first time we went to SWGE, I think I got one ride on BTMRR. The rest of the day my DH was in GE. 😀

I would probably do something like this:

Rope drop the Falcon
Get ILL for Rise
Morning ronto wrap
If you didn’t get Oga’s reservation, do waitlist right after you finish Falcon
Wander SWGE, taking in sights. Rise when the ILL time comes up.
Dok Ondar’s and bazaar shops until reservation for Savi’s or Droid Depot
Lunch at Docking Bay 7
Other of Savi’s or Droid Depot
Blue milk stand

The Play App has stuff to do in SWGE that my DH has found endlessly fascinating. As you wander, too, you’ll likely run across characters. One time some citizens of Batuu had set up a Sabacc game in the street!

If your DH wants pictures with his new droid and lightsaber, Genie+ includes photopass at DLR. Then you could LL Falcon (and maybe a couple of other rides too😀).

If you are going to dedicate rope drop to 5pm to Galaxy's edge, you'll easily see everything and probably be able to do some other stuff as well, especially if you're using G+ and ILL.

At the same time, Galaxy's edge is a fun place to "get lost" in for a spell. As noted above, the datapad on the Play Parks App has a lot to do as well, and certain things in the app are only available at certain times of day, so spending time there can be fun if that's your thing. The land is incredibly interactive, again, by using the app you can "hack" into various features which results in real world feedback in the form of sounds, lighting, and other practical effects.

I'd say plan on spending the morning/early afternoon there and then take stock - if you and your hubby have had enough, go do some other stuff. If you're still exploring and into it, stick around. Be flexible.

In either case, though , when you come back later that week, make sure you visit Galaxy's Edge after sundown. It has a whole different quality once the light fades that should not be missed.

We’re doing an all-day SWGE day as well, with an obsessed husband and an obsessed 7-year-old. In theory, our day will go like this:
  • Rope drop Star Tours in Tomorrowland. Get LL for Falcon and ILL for Rise.
  • Ogas at 9 am.
  • Marketplace, Dok Onders, and general looking around until lunch. Hopefully Falcon and Rise will be in here somewhere.
  • Lunch at Ronto Roasters.
  • More marketplace/Dok Onders/looking around/Falcon and Rise depending on our return times.
  • At 2:30, DH will do the lightsaber, and the boy (and I) will do the droid building.
  • Snack at Kat Sakas. Most likely, this will also involve looking at 5,000 pictures of souvenirs the boy thought he might want, and deciding which to go back to purchase.
  • Make purchases.
  • Dinner at Docking Bay 7.
We expect to be done by about 5/5:30 because our son will be dead on his feet then, but for adults, there would still be plenty of time to add another lightsaber/droid build here.

You can bring a guest to the lightsaber building, it's a really cool activity to watch. DH could bring your kid with him and you can all do Droid building afterwards.

Thank you all! Here's what I ended up with this morning:

Oga's 9:05AM (I accidentally set my phone alert for 9 a.m. rather than 8 a.m. CT, and this is the time I got!)
Droid Depot 10:50AM
Savi's Workshop 2:05PM

Will definitely purchase ILL for Rise and possibly LL as well. Thank you all!

If you’re planning on staying in Galaxy’s Edge all day, purchasing Genie+ is kind of a waste since there is only one LL attraction in GE (Smuggler’s Run). Though you could purchase one Genie+ for photo pass if you want to take photos in GE.

Sounds like a fun day! If I would recommend an item for an afternoon snack/refreshment, my wife and I loved the Cold Brew Black Caf drink from Docking Bay 7. It's cold brew coffee, topped with sweet cream cheese and chocolate "cocoa" puffs. Few tips, you need to mix the sweet cream cheese into the coffee first before drinking it, as it is a little bitter without the sweet cream mixed in. Also ask for no ice, the drink is cool enough as is and doesn't need ice, plus the ice will make it difficult to fish out the cocoa puffs afterwards.

Plus if the Mobile Order pickup line is fairly large on the left side, check out the Stand By line to the right. When we went in July, the mobile order pickup area had about 20 people there. Then when I walked to the stand by line, there was only 1 person there ahead of me, so I canceled my mobile order and picked up my drinks in 3-5 minutes.

You may want to plan more than one ride on MFSR in case you don't get pilot the first go round and/or want to try other positions. Also note that Savi's and Droid Depot will both result in stuff to carry around afterwards so you may want to do both of these later in the day after you're done with rides. There is no need for Droid Depot reservations so don't get too hung up on the time you booked for that- you could probably cancel that and leave it more open ended/flexible for when you decide to go in. Savi's also generally seems to be pretty open but is much more capacity limited than DD.

I would also second the recommendation to go back to Galaxy's edge one of your other days after dark. I LOVE GE at night and you can get some great photos- don't forget to bring your lightsaber(s) back in with you for that!

Yeah, we talked about that, and even offered to let our son build one since he is old enough now. But he’s really not into lightsabers and declined. He is way more interested in the droids and getting a Boba Fett helmet, which I understand does exist (hopefully). On the other hand, the lightsaber build is going to be a near religious experience for my husband :) and I’m happy to let him have that time child-free.

Understanding it might not have been the best fiscal decision, I just had G+ added to our full trip since this is a once in a lifetime vacation for us and I was going for “less brain damage” over “less money” :)
One question I have though is whether it is possible to hold a LL for Falcon simultaneously with a ILL for Rise, or are there rules about timing/usage/etc. that will make that difficult. Do you happen to know?

Yes, but I would try not to have them overlap too closely if possible since both take a somewhat long time to experience even with ILL/LL.

Droid Depot and the First Order shop will hold packages until the end of the night. So if you’re not up for carrying around your Savi’s Lightsaber or Droid you can drop it there
Can you take the Droid carrying in the backpacks they sell on Rise? I've heard they "interact" when stormtroopers or other droid are about. Do they do anything while on the ride, if allowed? I was thinking of letting my granddaughter build on on our last evening, and then hang out in GE for a while.

You can have a droid in the backpack up until a certain point on the ride. When you board the vehicles you have to stow them. They do sometimes interact depending on their personality in certain areas. I have not seen a droid interact during Rise but mine had an First Order personality and but the interactions are Bluetooth based and which can be fiddly. So it’s possible we missed some reactions

Good suggestions! Can you share how long each experience typically takes (individually for Droid Depot and Savi's?)?

On a side note, DH and I are Disney bounding there when we go next week. It's pretty easy to blend in like a citizen of Batuu-- earth tones, loose tunic styles, boots-- without violating the "no-adult-costumes" rule.

Savi’s is about 20 minutes once inside, but you’ll need to check in beforehand, so maybe 30-40 minutes? DD depends on how long the builder takes to pick pieces and put them together, but 20-30 minutes should be in the ballpark.
