I've been searching for a sugarloaf thread with recent photos and I can't seem to find any info. I made the mistake of telling someone we were staying club level at the grand and they were saying how fantastic it was and then I mentioned sugarloaf and they kind of winced and gave me an "oh". I figured they were one in the same, apparently not? Is it really so bad?! It's club level at the grand Floridian, I figure how can you go wrong?! It will be our first club level experience so luckily I won't know if I'm being cheated in some way lol I feel blessed we were able to find that room at all during our travel times!

we stayed in Sugarloaf in April and loved it. There does seem to be some odd feelings floating around that its not as great as conci in the "main building". I guess my thought is you dont know what you dont have and we had a great experience at Sugarloaf. Its nice that the club lounge is the entire middle section of the building and they have the same things available in the main building. Unfortunately there are quite a few people at GF who bring their foofy attitude with them and I guess Sugarloaf means you didnt pay more to stay. We have stayed at almost all of the resorts and found GF had the extra amount of people there for the "show". Save the money, stay at Sugarloaf and enjoy it!

Thank you for your input! That's exactly how it felt, like somehow it was lesser class than the main building and somehow a lesser experience. But as you said, I don't know what I'm missing and this is a step up from anywhere else we have stayed ( contemporary was the most "fancy" place we stayed) - and it's our first club level experience. I'm sure my kids will be in awe (as will I) as this will be like nothing else they've experienced. I just wanted to be sure you were "treated" the same in both venues, so to speak lol It's definitely something we didn't expect to come available so I'm just counting my blessings!

yes, you are absolutely treated the same in both locations. There is a conci desk right in the lobby of sugarloaf and always had a few people around to help you out.

One suggestion that we absolutely loved. Grab a cabana at the pool for a 1/2 day. Its pretty reasonable and we loved taking some time to relax and have our own spot

We will be staying SL in a couple of months for the first time. We've previously only stayed RPC and loved the views, and seating areas overlooking that grand lobby as well as the live band and general hustle and bustle atmosphere. The lounge at SL has no windows or views and is a lot smaller but like previously stated ... It's still CL. For us , this trip, we couldn't beat the price ... Just over $200 night less than a comparable RPC room so we'll just have see.

Here's a little tour of the SL lounge

I've stayed at both---3 times at Sugarloaf and once at RPC. No worries. You are treated like gold whether you are at Sugarloaf or the RPC. The CMs are beyond helpful and there is easy access to food. You will have a fantastic time.

I think that anyone who would put their nose up at Sugarloaf has never had the pleasure of staying there. I cannot speak highly enough for the level of preofessionalism and Courtney we enjoyed during our stays. The food was delicious and plentiful and the staff members, all of them, beyond reproach.

I have not used the lounge in the main building, although I was offered the option the first time we stayed at GF. I felt no need and so used only SL. You will not egret your choice.

People can be so odd. Just FYI there are threads for both Club Level and the Grand Floridian which have a lot of additional info to look through. They might be helpful!

I have stayed at SL, and it is my least favorite club level. The lounge there is pretty small, and there are no pretty views like you would get at the CR or the Poly. We had issues getting a table at both breakfast and during the evening appetizers. The CL CMs were not terribly friendly.

I would not stay SL again. It was not a great stay for us. We generally go during the summer when it's fairly crowded at the resorts. The SL lounge, to me, is not big enough if CL is at capacity. There were a lot of people who also could not find seats while we were there.

The room was the only plus. It was lovely!

I have had much better stays at other resorts. I prefer CR so far.

It's unfortunate that you didn't enjoy your stay. We are going during mid December, before the Christmas rush. Hopefully crowding won't be an issue. And the kids will be happy to be there for the experience, as will I. Not having another club level experience to go off of I'm sure I will think it's great"

We are staying at SL for the first time in two weeks, and I've been absorbing every thread that mentioned it over the past 6 months. I think the positive comments have far outweighed the negative. I imagine that compared to RPC or Poly CL, the size and views of the lounge area leave something to be desired, but you also pay a lot more for those nicer lounges (it would have been $1000 more for my week). SL provides a stay at the GF with club level amenities for significantly less than RPC. You can't fairly compare them without taking the cost into consideration. If the cost was the same, I would probably choose RPC, but for the better value, SL is a great alternative.

The negative reviews are definitely a scary thing considering the amount of money being spent to go, but I keep reminding myself, there are two sides to the coin. Everyone has an opinion, and everyone is entitled to them. Sometimes I have to remembernot to rely too heavily on the opinions of others, especially on the forums. Everyone's expectations and experiences are different and I'm just going to have to cross my fingers and hope that ours is a fabulous one.

I hope you'll take some photos and give a nice review of your stay!
