Suds It Clean?

Hi, its me, cleaning again. After talking with my mom about this topic. I have got to wandering. Does suds in your wash get clothes cleaner? We usualy buy just cheap detergent, but this time I bought Tide with Downy. No change in the cleaning. I watched this morning and not as much suds.
