Suddenly worried about ME losing our bags

I know this is a completely irrational concern, but we're flying with six (eek!) checked bags this trip (southwest, hooray!) and I'm wondering if the fact that we have *so* many bags puts us at a higher risk of DME misplacing one or more.

Talk me off a ledge here!

You're right, it is an irrational concern. Snap out of it or I'll come over there and slap you. :clown:

It's just as likely if not more that southwest will lose your bags. I have flown more times than I can count and I have never lost a bag

We've used DME many times and have always had our bags delivered to our room with no problems....:yay:....enjoy your trip

KNOCK IT OFF! You'll be fine.... and if a bag doesn't show, it is most likely the airline that mis-directed it! I can honestly say (knock on wood) that I have never had an airline loose a bag of mine. One time it missed the connection but arrived on the very next flight, no big deal.... something you probably wouldn't even know happened using DME.

In all of our trips with ME, our luggage was "lost" once. My sister's family was in the room next door. They had borrowed some of our luggage for the trip. When we got back from the parks, we noticed that 2 of our bags were reversed. This was 2 pieces from a matching set, in next door rooms, and we have very similar last names. I didn't worry before that trip, and haven't worried since. They do a great job.

I would assume it is the airline which loses your bag, not you ;)

Actually it's rare to completely lose a bag; they usually eventually turn up. My husband and I fly frequently and usually don't check bags, but we both have had bags misdirected several times over the past few years. Once his bag was sent all over Europe and it finally made it home a month after he did!

Like others have said it more likely that the airline will lose your luggage than ME.

What I always do just in case... is I pack some of my clothes in DH bag and some of his clothes in my bag. that way if we lose a bag at least we have clothes.

My husband has flown 5 times and the airline has misplaced his luggage three times. Trust me, the worst part is wasting time waiting for the luggage and then waiting to fill out paper work. It's a pain. That's why I'll always use DME - If the airline misplaces your luggage, they take care of that stuff for you.

As far as what actually happens if your luggage gets misplaced, It's annoying, but you can greatly minimize the impact by packing everything you'll need for the first 24 hours in your carry on and dividing everyone's things up between the suitcases.

Yep- we've got our clothing packed across 5 bags (bag #6 is boxed wine :rotfl2::rotfl:) so we should be in good shape even if a bag is misdirected.

WE also got matching luggage tags and bag straps to hopefully make sure that even though they don't all look the same, they end up in the same place
