Suddenly Solo – A Fall Feast 5K TR Oct/Nov 2019 Updated 12/3!

Here!

sorry your mom has to cancel. :(

cute pups though. :)

 Thanks for joining in.

I wonder about people sometimes... they mess up and expect others to fix it. :sad2:

But you’re there and looking forward to more! :)

Seriously. I felt so bad for that CM who was trying his best to help them as they kept getting angrier and angrier. I'm not sure I could have had the patience he did.

Following along! Your puppy pictures are adorable, as always :) So sorry to hear about your mom but at least you had a back up plan!

:wave2: Thanks for following along! It turned out to be a very different trip once she had to cancel.

Joining in of course!

Sorry to hear mom couldn't join you :( Glad you have something planned for February though.

Cute that the airline counters were decorated!

Glad you made friends on the flight and got there with no issues!

Hi Alexis! Glad you are here. I still have your last TR bookmarked and need to find time to finish reading it.

I'm sure hoping Mom will be a lot better for February so she can enjoy that trip.

Here, although a LOT to try to catch up on.

I did hit up my last TR with a ton of updates! Glad you are here and just read when you can.

Joining in, sorry your mom had to cancel but happy you still went on the trip!

I did think about cancelling and I felt a little guilty enjoying myself when I knew Mom was home sick but the race was non-refundable and not the cheapest so I really had to go.

I am joining in. Sorry to hear that you mom couldn't make it.

Hi! Thanks for joining in.

Great start to your trip report! I never cease to be amazed at how you reach out from your introverted comfort zone to make new friends! So great that you made new Dis friends on your flight. Anxious to see if you ended up meeting up with them in the parks.... popcorn::

Jim says I come out of my shell on two occasions, at Disney and at the Animal Shelter where I volunteer. Guess it takes me being passionate about something to overcome my shyness. In this case it was both dogs and Disney so very comfortable for me. :rotfl:

So sad your Mom didn't get to join you, but February isn't TOO far away!! I'm sure you're both looking forward to it so much!!

Nice that you made some friends on your flight :)

Only 80 days to go! I know we are both looking forward to it and I have some surprises up my sleeve to make the trip special.

Joining in! We were in WDW at the same time and also ran the 5k!

Sorry to hear your mom wasn't able to join you. Hope she is feeling better now.

Awesome how you made friends on the plane like that!

I had a blast doing the 5K, did you like it?

Thanks for joining in!

I still need to read your record 7-updates-in-one-shot finish on your other TR but wanted to get in here from the beginning!!

I did go a bit crazy on that other TR but I wanted to move on to this one. Thanks for joining in!

Joining in!

Hi Ryan! I did see that you have a TR going for the Fall races. I need to get over to it someday and check it out. I love reading about all the races since I can only do the 5Ks.

Hopping over from your last trip report . Looking forward to reading this one . Sorry about your mom Hope she is feeling better .

Hi! Glad you are here. Mom is slowly getting better. Two of her friends finally made her go to the ER and they gave her some better pain meds which seem to be helping so far.

I hope your mom is feeling better ! Can't wait to read about your trip.

She's getting there although a lot slower than she wants to. I've got more coming up shortly.

Great start to your report! I am sorry to hear about your mom and hope she is doing a little better now. I am glad to see the Pop pictures as I am staying there for the first time in 18 days and that is the exact section I requested! How fun that you met fellow Disney-philes on the plane and I love the decor on the Southwest gates. :)

She's still not feeling the best but is getting there slowly. I've been helping her do her Christmas shopping the last few days since she's still not getting out much.

Hope you have a wonderful time at Pop! Make sure if you want to ride the Skyliner that you check the times it's opened. I was surprised on morning to find out it didn't start running that day till 8 am which was the same time Epcot opened so I had to take a bus to make rope drop.

We arrive on 12/18 - maybe we'll see you around the food court :hyper: And I agree, great to see all the POP pics - thank you!

Glad you enjoyed the Pop pictures, have a great trip!

Joining in!
I’ll definitely follow along but I may not have much time for comments. “Real life” has been getting in the way of Dis time lately.

I totally get where you are coming from there! I have about 20 TRs bookmarked that I need to get caught up on. Always seem to have Real Life stuff that gets in the way though.

Shopping and Lunch at Disney Springs

When I made it back to the front there was about a 10 minute wait till the next Disney Springs bus and no one in line so I found a bench in the shade to wait. When the bus arrived I was excited to see that it was one of the new ones with BB-8 this time.

I decided at that point that I would try to document the cool buses I got to ride on. But other than riding the same BB-8 bus back from Disney Springs later on this afternoon, I never got another one of the new buses. I saw a ton of them and they are all very cool. I saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Dumbo, Toy Story, Lion King, Avatar, and probably quite a few more that I’ve forgotten at this point.

The inside of the new bus was very nice with a faux wooden floor down the middle and nice seats.

I got to Disney Springs around 12:30 so I had about an hour until lunch. If you remember from the first post, Mom and I originally were going to grab a light lunch somewhere then shop all afternoon then have dinner at the Boathouse. I knew that there was no way I would spend that much time shopping by myself, it’s just not as fun without Mom there, so I moved dinner to lunch. I also noticed that Magic Kingdom was open later that night so I made myself some Fast Passes there for the evening.

I thought to myself when I go to Disney Springs that I hadn’t taken very many pictures so I took these two. You’re welcome.

It was also around this time that the heat started hitting me. It always takes me a day or two to get used to the crazy heat. I thought May had been hot but this felt even worse.

I looked through Disney Style first but didn’t really see anything I had to have. I did see a Tiki Room shirt that I liked but decided to think about it. I did see it a few times after that but I guess I didn’t like it enough to bring it home with me.

I also browsed through Ever After Jewelry Co. and Uniqlo but still didn’t buy anything. I looked at the rings and while there were a few new ones, none were that unique compared to the rings I already had.

When I finished with those stores, I still had about 20 minutes till lunch but I was getting pretty hungry at that point. I decided to head to the restaurant and see if they could seat me early. If anything I could hopefully get out of the heat while I waited for my table.

They had no trouble seating me early and as you can see by my view here, there were a lot of empty tables around me.

They did ask me if I wanted to sit at one of the outside tables but I prefer not to sweat while I eat so I said thanks but no thanks.

My meal started with some rolls. These were basic but very good and served warm. I did restrain myself and only ate one because I wanted to save room for my meal. They were good enough though that I could have easily scarfed both of them.

For the first time this trip but not the last, I had an over attentive server. Just a note to any servers out there, there is no need to hover over someone just because they are dining alone. I tend to run into that often when I’m on solo trips but it seemed to happen more this trip. It tends to led to some awkward interactions for me.

Despite the heat that day, I started out my meal with a cup of the Maine Lobster Bisque soup.

This was delicious and easily the best part of the meal. For my entrée I got the Crispy Panko-Fried Wild New England Cod served with fries.

This was just OK, I’ve definitely had better fish and chips before. I’m not sure exactly how to describe it other than to say the fish was a bit mushy and I prefer a crisper fried fish. Also the fries were way over seasoned for me. They might have been fine for others but I’m not a fan of lots of spice on my food.

There was one time during the meal that my server was not so attentive. He really spent time pushing dessert on the couple next to me but never offered it to me. I definitely would not have ordered anything because I was stuffed, but I found it odd that he was so insistent with them but not me. He did spend a lot of time telling me about how he lived close enough to the parks to see the fireworks and that his dog loved the fireworks and had to go outside to watch them every night.

After I settled my bill and headed out, I made my way to the very end of the Marketplace so I could shop my way back towards the middle and the buses. I started in The Art of Disney. I was mainly looking for the Precious Moments dolls that I collect but they did not have them there. They tend to move around to different spots in DS so I figured I would find them in another store but never did. Days of Christmas was next. The store was very crowded so I didn’t linger much but I did have to take a picture of this cute Pluto sign.

I also browsed through the Star Wars Trading Post, Once Upon a Toy, Pin Traders and Trend-D without finding anything to buy. I spent some time in Disney Tails looking at the dog toys. But after what my dogs did to the Stormtrooper toy I bought them, I figured it wasn’t worth the money to bring them another. I also drooled over the dresses at Cherry Tree Lane but walked away as always. I’m just not a dress wearer and they are too much money to just sit in my closet at home.

Finally at Twenty-Eight and Main I found something I was on the hunt for. As you probably know by now, if it has Pluto on it, it usually comes home with me.

After browsing through Arribas Brothers, I moved on to World of Disney where I did find some more stuff to buy. In October 2018 I bought this Pluto shirt.

This year they had a slightly different version and since it was Pluto….

And they had the usual deal were the shirts were each slightly cheaper if you bought two.

Disney sizing is so weird. Both of those shirts are the same size but the red one is clearly bigger on me. I would have preferred to have it a bit smaller but decided not to worry about exchanging it. I also bought a set of pens for work.

I’m using the obnoxious pink Small World one right now because I figure no one’s going to try to steal that from me.

I wish they had a Pluto in these new Park Pals but Stitch was good too.

And another no brainer was the large sleepy Pluto.

After that I was done shopping and headed to the bus stops. I saw the Pluto buses quite a bit during the week but this was my first sighting of the trip and I was excited.

I took that picture at the DS bus stop around 3 pm and it was 3:30 when I arrived back at my room. I know the exact time I arrived at my room because I was surprised to see my bags being delivered at that moment. It was five hours after my plane had landed so I had expected them to be delivered a lot earlier than 3:30 pm. I’m really glad I didn’t have an evening flight or I might have been up half the night waiting for my bags. Pop luggage service seems to be a bit understaffed, I’ve had issues with them in the past, one time they even delivered our bags to the wrong room and it took two hours to get that mess straightened out.

When I said something to the CM about it being my room, he closed my door quickly then said “go ahead and make sure your Magic Band is working”. I found this odd at first since I’d already been in the room and my carry on bags were in plain view on the bed but then I realized that he might have thought I was trying to get into a room that wasn’t mine. Cleaver of him to find a way of politely checking to see if I really did belong in that room.

Once the CM left I spent about a ½ hour unpacking and getting organized in my room then headed back out to the buses to catch one to Magic Kingdom. As I said earlier, I made 3 last minute FPs for this night when Mom decided she wasn’t coming.

Buzz Lightyear 4:45 – 5:45 pm
Space Mountain 5:45 – 6:45 pm
Pirates 6:45 – 7:45 pm

I was pleasantly surprised with the Space Mountain FP considering I made it less than two weeks before my trip. I was hoping that was an indication of lower crowds. My plan was to arrive at MK around the time of the Buzz FP and I took this next photo right at 4:45 pm.

I headed down Main Street towards Tomorrowland but stopped for a quick picture along the way.

Buzz was fun as always although I didn’t get a very good score this time. Guess I was out of practice since it had been 5 months since my last ride.

I had time before my SM FP and the best time waster in TL is of course the People Mover.

The Tron Coaster seems to be moving along nicely.

Well I'm just about out of picture space so I think I'll end this update here and continue my evening in the next post.

That's why they get paid... otherwise... things would get quite a bit... louder.
I decided at that point that I would try to document the cool buses I got to ride on.
Cool idea!
I never got another one of the new buses.
Oh.
Sorry, though.
The inside of the new bus was very nice
I didn't realize the busses were knew, too. Thought it was just the outside paint job.
I thought to myself when I go to Disney Springs that I hadn’t taken very many pictures so I took these two. You’re welcome.
A veritable plethora of photography.
It always takes me a day or two to get used to the crazy heat. I thought May had been hot but this felt even worse.
Really! That was bad...
They did ask me if I wanted to sit at one of the outside tables but I prefer not to sweat while I eat so I said thanks but no thanks.
Right? Who wants to eat and die of heat stroke at the same time????
Despite the heat that day, I started out my meal with a cup of the Maine Lobster Bisque soup.
mmmmmmm… sounds sooooo good!
Just a note to any servers out there, there is no need to hover over someone just because they are dining alone.
Yes! "Thanks, I'm fine. Go away."
I’m not sure exactly how to describe it other than to say the fish was a bit mushy and I prefer a crisper fried fish.
yuck. mushy?... yuck.
I found it odd that he was so insistent with them but not me.
That is odd. Huh.
He did spend a lot of time telling me about how he lived close enough to the parks to see the fireworks and that his dog loved the fireworks and had to go outside to watch them every night.
Me: "Uh, huh... I'm tipping you 20%.... uh, huh... 18%... oh really? 16%... you're still here? 14%..."
I did have to take a picture of this cute Pluto sign.
Of course you did. Surprised you didn't somehow come home with it. ;)
As you probably know by now, if it has Pluto on it, it usually comes home with me.
I think I just said that. :)
Like those ones the best. :)
Disney sizing is so weird. Both of those shirts are the same size but the red one is clearly bigger on me.
I had to go back and look, but yes, I see that now.
I’m using the obnoxious pink Small World one right now because I figure no one’s going to try to steal that from me.
:lmao:
It's perfectly safe!
And another no brainer was the large sleepy Pluto.
But of course. :)
It was five hours after my plane had landed so I had expected them to be delivered a lot earlier than 3:30 pm
Whoa! That's a long time!
I’ve had issues with them in the past, one time they even delivered our bags to the wrong room and it took two hours to get that mess straightened out.
Ugh. Not cool.

Yeah, that's pretty clever and diplomatic.
I had time before my SM FP and the best time waster in TL is of course the People Mover.
Time waster???????? I beg your pardon?????

I had a blast doing the 5K, did you like it?

Thanks for joining in!

I loved it! I can't wait to run another race!

I thought to myself when I go to Disney Springs that I hadn’t taken very many pictures so I took these two. You’re welcome.

:rotfl: :rotfl: I do this too. If I feel like I haven't taken enough pictures, I start taking pictures of everything lol

That's really cute!

I’m using the obnoxious pink Small World one right now because I figure no one’s going to try to steal that from me.

I also bought a set of pens for work.
Love these and must get them when I am there in 2 weeks!

They look great!

You mean the best ride in all of the Magic Kingdom...... :)

Your lunch at Boathouse looked great. I would not have been able to stop at one roll....soft, fluffy carbs with butter are my weakness!

Sounds like a lovely start to the trip! I wish you got to ride the Pluto bus first, that would have been the greatest magical moment!! I really like that Mickey ear hat shirt you bought--so cute!

There was a bit of a line to check in for the Magical Express and of course I got behind a family that wanted Disney to pick up their bags but didn’t attach the yellow tags nor had they saved the baggage claim slips. The mother was trying to give the CM the receipts from when they paid the baggage fees. They were quite annoyed that Disney couldn’t magically find their bags for them. After what felt like forever listening to them argue with the CM, they stormed off to go and pick up their bags

:rolleyes2

Are people really that dumb?

Those ARE nice!!

Nice work on re-arranging things with the new circumstances. Good work!
ought a set of pens for work.

I NEED THESE!!!

one time they even delivered our bags to the wrong room and it took two hours to get that mess straightened out.

I've had that happen. And yes, it took about that long for us too.

Sounds like a nice time at DS, I love everything you bought!

Love your villains attire at Mk that night!!

Oh, this is getting me so excited about our trip next year!!!! We did get to go to DS after our cruise. My sweet DH gifted me with a Minnie Mouse Kate Spade purse as an early Christmas gift. I love it, and now I plan to use some of my Christmas money to buy a matching wallet.

Loving all the Pluto stuff you got!
And the new bussess!!!!

Hi Ariana!! Joining in and can't wait to hear more!!!

Hi Jenny! Thanks for joining in.

That's why they get paid... otherwise... things would get quite a bit... louder.

I'm not sure if I could be that patient even if paid. Probably good that I work mainly with spreadsheets every day. :rotfl:

I didn't realize the busses were knew, too. Thought it was just the outside paint job.

Yep, they are very nice inside. As to whether the buses are entirely new or just refurbished though I have no idea.

Really! That was bad...

Maybe I'm just blocking out my memory of the heat on the May trip but the first two days of this trip sure did feel like walking on the sun. Luckily it did cool off a bit after that.

Right? Who wants to eat and die of heat stroke at the same time????

Seriously. I really don't get the whole eating outside thing. Between weather and bugs, no thanks.

Of course you did. Surprised you didn't somehow come home with it.

I might have tried but I really didn't want to be banned from the parks for life. :lmao:

Time waster???????? I beg your pardon?????

OK, reading it back I guess that does sound bad. But I really didn't mean it that way, I love the Peoplemover! Was just making the observation that it's a good one to get on without wait.

I loved it! I can't wait to run another race!

That's great! I'm signed up for both the Princess 5K and the Star Wars 5K next year. Then I will have done all 4 WDW ones. Not sure if I will do any more after that though. I really thought that the running would get easier the more I did it but unfortunately it's been the opposite. :( I have a bum ankle that affects everything from my lower back down on that side and the constant pounding from running is not helping it much.

I do this too. If I feel like I haven't taken enough pictures, I start taking pictures of everything lol

Yep, I do that all the time. I'll go for several hours without taking a picture then take 10-15 random ones that make no sense. :rotfl:

Love these and must get them when I am there in 2 weeks!

The Disney pens are awesome. Not only are they stylish but they also write really well.

You mean the best ride in all of the Magic Kingdom.....

I do love the Peoplemover and I think my comment came across wrong. I was mostly just pointing out that it's easy to ride, not that it's a waste of time.

Your lunch at Boathouse looked great. I would not have been able to stop at one roll....soft, fluffy carbs with butter are my weakness!

It took a great deal of will power not to eat that second one!

I'm the same way when eating alone- just let me be!

Cute shirts!

I think the problem is I like to look around and people watch a bit while I'm sitting there. I think sometimes the server thinks I'm looking for them but I hate to be buried in my phone the entire time.

Sounds like a lovely start to the trip! I wish you got to ride the Pluto bus first, that would have been the greatest magical moment!! I really like that Mickey ear hat shirt you bought--so cute!

I so wish I had gotten on one of the Pluto buses! I was bummed that I only got to ride one the entire trip.

Here and reading, Dearie!

Are people really that dumb?

I guess so because I stood there and witnessed it.

Nice work on re-arranging things with the new circumstances. Good work!

Thanks! It was definitely a stressful two weeks while I waited for Mom to decide what she was doing.

I've had that happen. And yes, it took about that long for us too.

It really was not fun when it happened to Mom and I. It was late when we got back to our room and discovered our bags not there. All we wanted was to go to bed but instead we had to wait up until our bags got there. I couldn't even get through to them on the phone and had to walk back to the front a few times. I'm afraid I got a little snippy with them towards the end which is very unlike me.

Sounds like a nice time at DS, I love everything you bought!

Love your villains attire at Mk that night!!

Thanks! I had a hard time finding Villians shirts that had the Evil Queen in Old Hag form. I was very excited when I found that one.

Glad I can fulfill your Disney needs in between your trips. :rotfl: What an awesome early Christmas present. I'm more partial to the Dooney bags and have a few of those. But the Kate Spade ones are really nice too.

Continuing My Magical Night

It was still a bit too early for my Space Mountain Fast Pass when I finished up with the Peoplemover. Since I hadn’t been offered any dessert with my lunch I figured I would fill the rest of the time with my favorite Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich.

When I finally made it onto Space Mountain, I tried to go for the “Haughty Princess” look but instead I just look hot and tired.

The funny thing about the ride was the lady and girl behind me. They were complaining the whole time how much they hated the ride yet this was their second time riding that day. I didn’t quite get that one.

When I exited SM, I hoped on the MDE app and was able to modify my Pirates FP forward about a half hour so I could use it sooner. I headed across the park to Adventureland and decided to visit my favorite birds before using the Pirates FP.

It was during this show that I started taking some short videos to send to Mom. Even though she wasn’t able to come with me, she still wanted to know every detail of the trip so I had been texting her pictures throughout the day. I figured some short videos could help her feel like she was watching the shows along with me. I’m going to post those videos throughout this TR and there are quite a few of them but keep in mind that most of them are just 30 seconds to a minute snippets from the rides or shows. Here’s the first one from Tiki Room.

I also took pictures during the show. It was fairly empty and I sat towards the back so I wouldn’t get in anyone’s way as I snapped pictures.

Pirates was next and I put on my eye patch and hook (that I didn’t hold that up high enough for the camera to see) in honor of Jackie @missjackiemcg.

While I was waiting in the FP line for Pirates I attempted to log on and make a 4th FP but MDE was not cooperating. Once I exited the ride though, I was able to make one for Winnie the Pooh. I made it so that I could use it immediately but on my way there I got a bit distracted, first by my Country Bears.

And then by another favorite of mine, It’s a Small World.

I got a somewhat better picture this time of the doll with the super creepy hat.

The boards at the end where not working so no one was getting personalized good byes.

And just for your viewing pleasure, another video! I wasn’t kidding when I said I took a lot of these for Mom throughout the trip.

I was getting close to the end of my WTP FP so I made my way there after IASW.

Mom’s not a huge fan of the WTP ride but she does like the part where you bounce with Tigger so that’s where I videoed. It’s pretty dark though in that room and the video didn’t come out well.

I made a 5th FP at that point for Buzz Lightyear so I was off to Tomorrowland once again. Creepy no-faced Buzz.

Still not my best score. I was really off my Buzz Lightyear game this trip.

My plan for after Buzz was to find a place in the Hub or along Main Street to watch Happily Ever After. But when I got to Main Street it was a mad house. I really didn’t feel like staying to fight that crowd. I was getting a bit tired, 4 am had been a really long time ago, and I guess I’m just a bit spoiled by the times I’ve done the Dessert Party.

Instead of staying, I made my way out through the Emporium. I didn’t buy anything at that time but did see another sweatshirt that I was going to think about. Of course, I pretty much instantly regretted not buying it and decided to look for it the next day at Epcot.

I took one more picture of the Halloween decorations before heading out to the bus stop.

When I got back to the resort I realized I was a bit hungry but not enough for a full meal. I stopped in to the Food Court and got a small snack to take back to the room. I also got milk, Coke and a banana for the next morning. I brought a box of cheerios with me in my suitcase and planned to eat in my room most mornings. Here’s the snack I had, surprisingly healthy for me.

I usually end my days with my pin trades and Fitbit Stats. Well, I totally gave up on the pin trading on this trip. It was so bad I stopped carrying my trading pins after the first day. And I never got around to saving my Fitbit Stats but just know I walked a lot like every other Disney trip.

Up Next: An Excellent EMH Epcot Morning

I'm not sure if I could be that patient even if paid. Probably good that I work mainly with spreadsheets every day. :rotfl:
Maybe I'm just blocking out my memory of the heat on the May trip but the first two days of this trip sure did feel like walking on the sun. Luckily it did cool off a bit after that.
It was hot in May... I remember that very well. ;)
Seriously. I really don't get the whole eating outside thing. Between weather and bugs, no thanks.
If it's nice... if there's no bugs... then it's really nice.
If it's not nice... if there's bugs... then it's really bad.
I might have tried but I really didn't want to be banned from the parks for life. :lmao:
OK, reading it back I guess that does sound bad. But I really didn't mean it that way, I love the Peoplemover! Was just making the observation that it's a good one to get on without wait.
I know. I was just teasing. :)
I figured I would fill the rest of the time with my favorite Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich.
Good way to fill time and tummy!
I tried to go for the “Haughty Princess” look but instead I just look hot and tired.
You look adorable. :)
The funny thing about the ride was the lady and girl behind me. They were complaining the whole time how much they hated the ride yet this was their second time riding that day. I didn’t quite get that one.
What the???? That's just... weird!
It was during this show that I started taking some short videos to send to Mom.
Nice of you. :)
Pirates was next and I put on my eye patch and hook (that I didn’t hold that up high enough for the camera to see) in honor of Jackie @missjackiemcg.
:thumbsup2
And then by another favorite of mine, It’s a Small World.
:sad2:

Oh, okay... go ahead.
Mom’s not a huge fan of the WTP ride but she does like the part where you bounce with Tigger so that’s where I videoed. It’s pretty dark though in that room and the video didn’t come out well.
But your photos did. In a notoriously difficult ride to take photos on.
I didn’t buy anything at that time but did see another sweatshirt that I was going to think about. Of course, I pretty much instantly regretted not buying it and decided to look for it the next day at Epcot.
