"SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP! It Builds Character and Strength!" A July 2011 TR-COMPLETE 4/5

Okay I just noticed that the day you are writing about is July 29th... which is the day I go to Disney this year... AHHHHHHHH!

That is such a cute story! Awww. What awesome memories! :goodvibes

MONORAIL. :worship: Aw, I will keep reading, promise! I kinda wish I was into Happy Potter. Hahaha. But it'll still be fun to hear about your experiences there!

I know NOTHING about Shades of Green but it looks really pretty, includes my last name, and STARBUCKS. So YAY!

Omg beignets. I have wanted to try some of those since I first saw Princess and the Frog... and that was... OVER two years ago. They look SO GOOD.

Yay for a meet up!!!

Wonderful update! That Pooh picture/story actually caused me to tear up a bit. What a wonderful memory from a special picture!

I'm excited for the next update and the next day! I love me some Harry Potter World! :thumbsup2

I seriously can't wait to hear how much you loved the WWoHP! :thumbsup2 I want to go there so badly on our trip in December.

Shades of Green is pretty :) And they have Starbucks coffee? YUMMM!

And Beignets..... My mama is from New Orleans and they are seriously the best things EVER!

I can't wait to share!! You definitely should try to get there!

It is. And I know! Bonus!

They're delicious!!

The CM asking you guys to take the survey must have been an interesting experience. I haven't ever been asked to do one of the surveys but if I had I probably would feel the same way you did with just wanting to get on with my day.

Love all of those art of disney pics :) I love the one with the castle especially! Cute story about your own personal hundred acres woods! I love having experiences like that. It really is the simple things in life that bring the best memories.

It was. I was iffy about it but it didn't take too long.

thanks! They're all so beautiful! Aw thanks. I agree, they are the best. (:

Yay Monorail! I have grown very fond of that form of transportation over the years. It isn't everyday that you can just board a monorail to get where you need 2 go.

Ooh that must have been fun 2 check out shades of green. That is the one resort on property that i know nothing about. It has always fascinated me though. Loved seeing your pictures :) I'm sure that one reason that they advertise for a lot of stuff that would take people away from disney is that it is more like swan and dolphin in that it is on disney property and you can get some of the benefits of staying on property but it isn't like staying at a disney owned and operated hotel.

Me too. <3 I love it.

It was! That's true haha. It's not all Disney. I don't really know that much about it either, like that I apparently stayed there once!

yay harry potter land! As I am sure I have mentioned before in my comments on this TR and other TR's i am OBSESSED with Harry Potter! I love it almost as much as I love disney! As a harry potter fan I completely understand how essential it is to go 2 harry potter land if you are anywhere near it. The past two disney trips I have been on my mom and i have taken a day just for IOA and the WWOHP! I can't wait 2 hear what you think of it! My personal opinon of universal in general is that it is like a really cool version of the six flags parks (The great america branch isn't super far away from where I live) but it doesn't hold a candle 2 disney. however, I do love the WWOHP section! It is so amazingly realistic and I just love all the attractions and the theming of it. I personally also found that after i had been there once the overall experience of being a universal tourist improved drasticly.

Your dinner looks like it was great! I find it amusing just how much food guys can really eat. Your brother sounds a lot like my brother with how much food he ate at that meal!

Can't wait to hear more :)

I agree! I know you're a huge fan too! I can't wait for you to read all about it and see all the pics! WWoHP is definitely the best part of Universal. I like Suess Landing a lot too but Disney wins overall. (:

It was! Haha the boys can eat a TON. I can eat a lot too but not as much as them!

Okay I just noticed that the day you are writing about is July 29th... which is the day I go to Disney this year... AHHHHHHHH!

MONORAIL. :worship: Aw, I will keep reading, promise! I kinda wish I was into Happy Potter. Hahaha. But it'll still be fun to hear about your experiences there!

AHHHH so exciting!!! They are really great memories!

Well thanks! Yeah it's okay. Some people aren't, but hey, it's part of the trip so ya gotta just plow through hehe.

Me either! But apparently I stayed there before haha. The Starbucks is definitely a perk though, I must say.

They are amazing! I'm sure Tiana's are the best, but the ones at POFQ are pretty awesome too!

YAY! (:

Wonderful update! That Pooh picture/story actually caused me to tear up a bit. What a wonderful memory from a special picture!

I'm excited for the next update and the next day! I love me some Harry Potter World! :thumbsup2

Aww I'm so glad my story touched you. (: I love my memories from Pooh Bridge. They're some of the best moments I can remember.

Glad you're into it! I can't wait to share!

Chapter 40- Wishes, Dream of...Dessert!

July 29th, 2011

Once we had arrived at the Magic Kingdom, we attempted to make our way up Main Street.

dsc02950k.jpg

Now some of you may be asking yourselves, "Why does she say attempt?"

Well, that is because as we entered Town Square, we were "greeted" by the deafening sound of about 200 Argentinean tour group kids chanting back and forth to each other FROM EVERY CORNER OF TOWN SQUARE.

I kid you not.

I was genuinely frightened.

I thought they were taking over the World or something.

Which is a very scary thought, am I right?

So after making our way through the clapping and indistinguishable noise, (I tell you, I couldn't even hear the lovely Main Street music over all the noise!) we headed up Main Street and browsed through the Crystal Arts store and a couple others on the right side of the street.

dsc02958p.jpg

I found this Dooney & Bourke, which I REALLY REALLY WANT:
dsc02956l.jpg

Isn't it so cute!? Minnie bows!

I also found a take home version of Cinderella Castle for a very reasonable price, I might add:
dsc02960zo.jpg

HA.

Yeah right.

I wonder if anyone actually would buy that...

Once Dave and Mike were done hyperventilating over the price of the Model Castle, we decided to pay a visit to the real thing:
dsc02970f.jpg

dsc02969y.jpg

dsc02973vu.jpg

Then we headed over to the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station!

........

Why would we do that?

It's closed like 364 days out of the year, right?

WRONG.

WE WERE GOING TO OUR VERY FIRST WISHES DESSERT PARTY!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!!!

I mean really, talk about reasons to celebrate. A buffet of ALL DESSERTS while you have an awesome view of the fireworks??? I am THERE.

So we checked in at the Noodle Station with no problems, were given some sweet purple bracelets, and were escorted to our FRONT ROW TABLE!

Pixie dust!!! (:

Our lovely view:
dsc02977aj.jpg

The Main Street Electrical Parade had started a few minutes before, so we got to watch that from our table too! Bonus!!

dsc02997c.jpg

Then we decided to hit up the dessert buffet. There are pics of most of our plates, (we got seconds and thirds but I didn't get pics of all of them) and I was totally in heaven when I saw the rows and rows of Disney Desserts.

Here are some of what we sampled:

dsc02993x.jpg

dsc02998qm.jpg

I don't remember the exact names of all of them, but a lot of them are pretty straightforward.

Here's Mike and I at the table:
dsc02999v.jpg

He's chewing in that pic, I think.

LOL. EMBARRASSING. :P

Here's a better one:
dsc03000h.jpg

Then I texted Allie and she came over to visit with us before The Magic, The Memories and You started! Her family was at the Dessert Party as well!

We chatted for a bit and then the show started so she headed back to her table. This was my first time ever seeing the show from somewhere other than the beach at the Poly!!!

I was so enthralled that I only got one pic during the whole thing!

dsc03014j.jpg

It was AMAZING!!! The special effects were awesome and the whole show was just beautiful! Definitely a great addition to nighttime entertainment at the Magic Kingdom. (:

We had just enough time to go get more dessert before Wishes began! This time, I took tons of pics!

dsc03122h.jpg

As usual, Wishes made my cry like a baby, and it was just as beautiful as ever! It was interesting watching from that side of the Castle, because I usually watch from the Adventureland side or from Main Street.

We met up with Allie, her parents and Ana after we finished up eating!

THIS TIME I HAVE A PICTURE EVERYONE!

dsc03126v.jpg

From left to right, that's me, Allie, and Ana.

Aren't they gorgeous? (: Haha.

We decided from there that we wanted to hit up Tomorrowland. However, the crowds were so thick that we altered course (mateys) and headed to Frontierland. We rode Splash Mountain, which ended up being a pretty long wait because the third loading dock wasn't working. It gave us all (us three plus Mike) time to chat though!

Mike and I rode in the front with Allie and Ana in the second row. (They don't like to get wet.)

Despite their wish to stay dry, we all got SOAKED.

Muahahah.

After that, Mike headed back to the hotel, so the three of us headed to the Haunted Mansion!

We went through the graveyard queue and basically walked on the ride. It was very frumpy, us three interacting with all the things in the graveyard on very limited sleep and at around midnight.

After that, we all decided that we were pretty tired, and as they were leaving the next day and I had a big day at WWoHP coming up, we parted ways at the Main Gates and called it a night.

Dave and I got to the bus stop as a POFQ bus was pulling away, but another one came about five minutes later, so no big. (:

We got back to POFQ and Mike was already asleep, so we quietly (aka no Stacey involved) got ready for bead and CRASHED.

Wishes Dessert Party:
- 5/5 all across the board! Definitely recommend this to basically anyone! Especially if you love dessert and want a nice table to sit at during the fireworks. (: I will definitely be going back!

Recap of July 29th:

Highs:
- Early Crystal Palace ADR before Rope Drop!
- Walking on Space Mountain!
- Calling the phone booths!
- Helping that nice family get to their ADR at POR (:
- THE DESSERT PARTY!!!
- Hanging out with Allie and Ana! (:

Lows:
- Losing Katie's necklace (even though CM's were mega helpful about it!)

Cute Boy Count: 19

Food of the Day: I CANNOT pick just one from this day, so I'd have to say the honey sesame chicken, red bean ice cream, beignets, and everything I ate at the Dessert Party! Disney food is just so good, it's hard to choose!

Continued in Next Post

Yay Wegmans! I LOVE them too! Everything is so delicious. Next time you're there go to the international area. I saw them by the UK area.

Love the Art of Animation. I wish I was a millionaire. I would definitely have a lot of those paintings. They are incredible. I have a Thomas Kinkade Disney calendar on my wall. I consider that my fancy artwork haha. But seriously, all the painting just wow me. I cannot understand how people are that talented to paint like that. I'm always in awe. Just amazing. Cute story about your hundred acre woods. Loved that, so sweet.

AHH!!! HARRY POTTER WORLD!!! Lucky lucky. I still have not been there yet! That was my childhood haha. I think I was in upper elementary school when the first book came out. I literally grew up with it and I, sadly, have not gone there yet. I am so happy you were able to go! Can't wait to read and see all about it! Off topic, but are you familiar with pottermore? I don't really know what it is. I've heard about it but am confused!

ooo..Starbucks. Love their peppermint hot chocolates. Yum. I think it would be weird seeing it there...just doesn't seem like Disney haha.

Another update? Wow! Go you!! I missed it...okay time to comment. :)

Ahh, tour groups! They can be quite scary sometimes. I don't mind them at times, but I hate when they chant. They take away from the music around you.

I love that purse! I really wanted to get it last summer but it was too expensive. I have the wristlet of the sketches. If I did get the bigger one I'd get it at the World of Disney because you get a discount with your AP! :) Oh ya, that castle replica. We have one in our family room.....haha. I wish! Cannot imagine spending that much money on it! Wow! I wonder if anyone has one??

Your firework pictures turned out great! I have never done the Wishes Dessert Party. It looks delicious! That's great that your friends were there at the same time! So fun to be able to hang out with them there! Sounds like you had a blast! :)

Dang girl! You are an updating machine this week!
I meant to ask, when you're done are you gonna attempt a TR for your August trip? Or is that idea long gone? Hahaha.

Ugh, tour groups. I wouldn't mind them so much if they weren't so LOUD. Like, great, I'm glad you're excited that you're all at Disney together but you don't have to advertise it by chanting, there are other people here trying to enjoy their experience too. Ugh. :headache: Anyways...

The dessert party sounds so awesome. And yay for getting a picture this time with Allie and Ana! I must say that I was reading her TR (back when I was still 'lurking') and I was gonna comment the next time she updated... and then she never did! :sad2:

Sounds like yall had such a fun night! :goodvibes

Hey! i love reading your tr! I am doing one too and I want to make the font cool and change it to a different color but whenever i click on fonts and color nothing happens! How do I do that? Cant wait to read more!:woohoo:

So excited to hear you're going to WWoHP. We still have not been to Universal yet because you can't tear me away from Disney. I love the Harry Potter books (and I'm 48) and really want to go experience the rides.

Starbucks at Shade of Green - I'm SO jealous! I just don't understand why they can't have it at all the resorts.

The dessert party looks wonderful!

I LOVE the Wishes Dessert Party. I think it's definitely my new favorite thing. Having a huge love of dessert in general definitely helps with that.

I can't want to hear about WWoHP. I've been there three times over the last year and love it!

Well, I guess we do, I just didn't know that we did! I've heard of Cadbury, so we might have that, but I've never heard of Galaxy...so maybe not...? Yes you do!!

Cadbury is yummy Galaxy is better. Out of the three Galaxy is the best :)

YAY.

I USED TO PLAY POOH STICKS WHEN I WAS LITTLE TOO! At my old house right down the street there was the PERFECT little place for it. omg.

YOU MAY ALL BEGIN TO FREAK OUT...

NOW.

Unless you're like Jess, and don't care about Harry Potter, which is fine.

:rotfl2: You know me so well. But I will continue to read your updates, of course! I wouldn't miss them!

Wow I have never seen the inside of Shades of Green before! Interesting!

Beignets are perfect.

Oooh I like that the train station looks like it's glowing in that picture!

WISHES DESSERT PARTIES ARE LITERALLY THE GREATEST THINGS THAT HAVE EVER BEEN INVENTED AHHHHH
elkdgfhjnsewsukdfjgaerlskjgdfhxbglizkdjhrglreidfgkjnzdrlfgujherzdlfgkjnrldfgkjhzrdnfglkxhjtfnhlirtxufkjghldrkjhn!!!!!!!!!!

Remember that one time you booked the dessert party on Dave's credit card and didn't tell him? hahahaha :lmao:

I feel like we were seated at VERY similar.. if not the same tables!

BAHAHAHA allie was probably SO mad that you guys got wet on splash mountain

UGHHH I MISS DISNEY I AM DYING.

But I loved your updates (: You're like.... kind of almost-ish done with this trip report! WEIRD!

Wishes and yummy dessert all at the same time?! YESSSS!! I am putting this on our must-do list! :thumbsup2

Splash at night time is AWESOME!

Yay for updates!! And even bigger YAY for Harry Potter!! I seriously have no interest in practically anything else in Universal (at least no IoA anyway) so it's a visit off Disney property we take once in a while! I'm excited to hear all about it!!

My DH and I love Harry Potter! When we went to Disney for our engagement celebration we spent 2 days at Universal visiting Harry and exploring everything else. We loved the WWoHP and the butter beer was fantastic! Can't wait to read all about your experience!

HELLO Kristen! :) Sorry I haven't commented in awhile, school and all. It stinks... But I needed a Disney fix since today is first, #OneMoreDisneyDay (emphasis on the Hashtag) and I think EVERYONE knows what that means, I had a major wipeout snowboarding earlier and this marks the day where it has been one day over a year since I was last in Disney. I need a trip SOON and DE-SPE-RATE-LY... okay, enough of my clearly depressing life, to your TR. Of course, you know how much I love it and I think you need to seriously refrain from posting any pictures related to Wishes, Desserts or Party since it causes a very jealous reaction and hankering-for-Disney-food reaction, which together isn't good. Hopefully someday I will be able to try that party out :goodvibes And Shades of Green looks really cool, too bad it's only open to vets, but I think that's nice Disney has a place like that set aside for them :thumbsup2 Well, can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Awh those Disney pictures are so amazing! I need to have lots of Disney art in my house! Unfortunately I think I need to be rich before that can happen. sad...
Although not sure if I would want Madame Leota...bit creepy...:lmao:
Ok so we got stopped at Universal Studios as soon as we went in the gates last trip and they asked us a bunch of survey questions for about 10 mins and then when we were done we got a complimentary front of the line passes!!! We were so happy and a couple of days later at Disney we got asked to take a survey as we were leaving (i guess we look like average joes who would make good survey subjects?) and it went for what seemed like forever...and then the lady just thanked us and we were shown out of the little room.... So gutted because we were expecting fast passes or free stuff haha
Yay Starbucks! May need to take a detour there next trip. Not going to lie, huge sucker for Starbucks. Ever since they took pretty much all of them out of Australia (why??) the obsession has gotten worse.
Those silly tour groups! We flew over to Disneyland in a tour when I was younger for my dancing school and we did not chant, block large areas or act as a public nuisance. We also only hung out in groups of 2-4. No area blockage, haha that is how all tours should be done!
That Minnie bow bag is too adorable!
Ohhhh the Noodle Station... So much confusion there :confused3
Your Wishes dessert party looks so amazing!! What a fantastic combination of two of the best things in the world!!
Yay excited to hear about your trip to see Harry!
