Substituting drink allowed?

Just wondering if you are allowed to substitute something else for a drink when purchasing a CS at your resort? We'll have refillable mugs, so we won't need drinks.

Just curious!

Worst case, we'll just get bottles of water to take to the parks!

Sorry, you won't be able to substitute a food item in place of your beverage.

we just get the bottled water for the park...handy to have it first thing in the morning.

I am not sure what the rules are for guests with the Disney Dining Plan but unlike McDonald's, Burger King or Wendy's which include drinks with their combo meals, the counter service locations at WDW charge extra for a drink since it's not included on their regular menu board. So basically that's another reason why you can't substitute the drink for something else.

We get mugs too...I LOVE eating with them at the resort - we get (instead of drinks for the current meal) OJ for the morning, milk for our cereal for the morning or drinks to bring to the parks. We just bring the juice or milk to the room and put it in the frig or cooler - and then we're all set for the next morning - don't even have to leave the room.

We've done water for the parks, but never thought to do oj or milk for the next morning...great idea!
