Substituting a Side at TS

Can you substitute sides at the table service restaurants? For example, we have reservations at Le Cellier and while my son will like a steak he won't be a fan of the mashed potatoes. Can he substitute mac and cheese? We'll be on the DDP.

Hey Georgia...

I Subbed "Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes" for Risotto at Le Cellier last time I was there....

Very delicious the whole meal... from the bread, cheese soup, filet....Loved it...

Generally you can sub the sides from one entree for another you cannot normally sub the sides from the seperate section of the menu for an entree side. If you have the 3 course meal it does say no substitutions so I don't know if that includes sides as well- I have never tried to sub them when doing the 3 course menu.

As the PP said, if the side is listed as a side for another entree you can usually substitute it. If the side is listed with a price point in a separate section of the menu, you cannot sub it, but you can pay OOP for it. When we were there last fall mac and cheese was only listed as a separate side for around $6.00.

In your example, I don't think that will work. The mac 'n cheese is an added cost item. You would have to pay for it.

he can get fries! My son was offered french fries and no sauce on the steak if he wanted. He passed on the offer and took it exactly how it is. My younger son however will take the fries

I think if you explain that he doesn't like the sides offered, then they should absolutely be able to offer a different option. This has happened for us a couple times, when I knew my daughter wouldn't eat something. We've just politely asked and they've acted like it wasn't a problem at all.
