Stupid question

I'm trying to plan my packing list for our January cruise (okay, I'm actually packing), and I'm not sure what kind of dresses to pack for my daughter. I live in New England, so usually at that time of year we wear winter colors, and her winter dresses are dark and heavy, velvet, etc. Is it appropriate for her to wear spring-like pastels in January on a cruise if the weather's warm? Do people wear light colors that time of year in Florida? Or will it be cool enough there, too for the heavier winter clothes? I know it's a stupid question, but I don't want her to stick out like a sore thumb!

Thanks!

There are no fashion rules south of Georgia :) My mom used to tell us all the time no white after Labor day (she grew up in New York) but that was quickly stopped...Floridians are pretty laid back in the clothing rules. We just wear whatever whenever... Caribbean is pretty much the same way :)

We're hoping to get to cruise in January and I'm planning to pull out the same "cruise clothes" I wore last May. Bright capris and summer colors. I'll probably take the same black jersey slacks and glittery light weight sweater set that I wore for formal night last summer.

If you're going on the Magic, I think velvet dresses are always pretty for formal night regardless of color. You'll see plenty of ladies in their version of the "little black dress".

Whatever you take will be fine but you might check the weather for your destinations. It can still be pretty warm in the Caribbean in January.

We are from New York and everytime we go to Florida or the cruise in the winter months all the "summer clothes" come out!!! It makes sense to dress with the weather and when in the caribbean chances are that that the weather will be warm!!!

Couldn't hurt to bring some warm and some cool clothing as the weather can be unpredictable in January, especially in Orlando. I've experienced January weather ranging from needing a coat to when a bathing suit was plenty. Another thought is that the temperature inside the ship runs a little cool so I usually bring a sweater or shawl. We're going in January too, hope to see you!

We live in Naples, FL (Southwest Florida) and the weather is generally warm year round. However, having said that, it can be cool in the winter months. This, by no means, is as 'cool' as those from northern regions are accustomed to! We are cruising in Dec. and will be sure to take a light jacket and/or sweater for the evenings. As previous posts have mentioned... almost anything goes as far as colors etc.... Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you all very much for your replies! I'm going to pack her light-colored clothes, with a sweater. Now if only I could find a store that's selling white shoes this time of year!

Thanks again!

Payless had some white shoes when I was at one over the weekend..... (they weren't clearance)

Also the WalMart in Port Canaveral might be a good last resort if you arrive the day before the cruise and have time to shop.
