We haven't been to the parks in 4 years. Why do I keep seeing all these people using the GAD pass for a fastpass? Aren't those free in the parks? Or do you have to pay for them now?

Thanks!

Fast passes are still free, but there are rules about how quickly you get get one after another. You can only get one at a time (or two hours apart, whichever is less) and you have to come back to ride after the time stamped on your fastpass, which could be hours later.

I think the GAD fast passes are special. You can just walk up, show them your GAD fastpass and join the FP line. I've never used the GAD fastpasses, but my sister was awarded "dream fastpasses" during the Year of a Million Dreams promo, and I think it's the same thing. (It's like having a FP for all the FP rides at the same time, and being able to use them at your leisure all day.) I don't think the FP option would be nearly as good of a "deal" as the free GAD ticket, but if you already have tickets, it would be a nice perk.

They are still free but certain ones tend to run out early. (Toy Story mania in HS, or Soarin in Epcot)
also-with the normal fast passes you normally can get one and then must wait to get another. And you also have to wait for your return time. With the GAD fast pass it is immediate. Meaning you get your fast pass and can use it RIGHT THEN. It also doesn't matter if the ride is technically out of the regular fast passes-you can still get your GAD ones.
We loved it in HS expecially because when they ran out of fast passes for TSM by noon, and the wait was over 2 hours...my kids rode it back to back with little to no wait. I think it makes the day so much easier.

Fast passes are still free to anyone with a ticket to the park.

The GAD fastpass is an option offered to those who participated in the Give A Day, Get A Disney Day promotion. If a person who volunteered did not need a day's admission ticket (i.e. they are AP holders or have tickets as part of a package), they may choose to get the special fastpass. What makes it special is that it is an immediate fastpass, it can be gotten when all other fastpasses for that attraction are gone for the day, and it does not intefere at all with your normal fastpass.

For busy times, the GAD FP can be invaluable!

HTH!

bolding is mine...you do actually go to a specific GAD fast pass machine at the ride and get a fast pass that is good immediately.

So does your GAD ticket you used to get into the park automatically become this GAD fastpass? Or can you only use IT either for fp or as your admission

its only for one or the other. Not both.

My co-worker is planning on getting the GAD fastpass. She is sure that it is for unlimited use and plans to ride Space Mountain over and over and over.
Anyone know if the GAD fastpass can be used for something like that...or is it one fastpass admission per attraction??

I bet her a batch of cookies that it is just one time ...

You get a certain number of fastpasses for the day for two classes of attractions. The exact number will vary by park and by day. You can choose to use all of your passes on the same ride in each class (usually 3 from what I heard). It certainly won't allow you to ride Space over and over all day.

We got our GAD fast pass at Magic Kingdom.
THere are 2 lists of rides, Donald and Daisy. You get 3 fast passes off the Donald list and 3 off the Daisy list, total of 6 fast passes for the day. For example, Space Mountain will be on the Donald list, Buzz lightyear will be on the Daisy list. For your 3 rides, you can go the same ride three times or pick 3 different rides.

we didnt have a problem getting fast passes last month. we went right to soaring rode it and got our fast pass. By the time we were done, we rode mission to mars and got a fast pass. It was great for us since we got to ride both of them later in the day without a wait. We will use our GAD for tickets and try and do the same when we go in Nov which I think will be more crowded..

So in effect the $80 ticket is worth 6 fast passes for day....6 rides :confused3 Seems like you should be getting MORE IMHO.

We're using it as an admission when we want to "hop" a day without having a hopper. We're using our non expires and IF we decide to do another park, we'll just use the GAD one day tix OR just use it for an extra day at a park...

Have fun eating your cookies ;) She can ride it 3 times at most :)

the FPs are valid for everyone in your party up to 5 or 6ppl. We are using 2 of the GADs for FPs since DD and I have to renew our APs before we'll go on our trip. So everyone will get 6 'extra' rides on 2 separate days.

The GAD voucher entitles you to FP cards for everyone in your group (up to six, but many people have received more cards when they had more people in their group). So it is actually 36 or more immediate FPs for $80. If you are going at a busy time and all six people in your group want to ride TSM three times in a row, it's probably worth way more than $80, but Disney offers the choice. It's a nice perk for people who have booked packages requiring tickets or who have APs, or people who have the right number of days left on a non-expiring ticket.

Using a GAD voucher worth $80 for a $55 hopping option might not seem to make sense either, but if it works best for your group, it is a good use of the voucher for you! :goodvibes
