Stupid question about the kidnapped American journalist Jill Carroll

The picture I always see of her she is wearing what appears to be traditional Muslim clothing (long heavy clothes, head scarf etc) and her facial features look more Persian or Iraqi than American. Anyone know? I was just curious.

There are other photos of her, but those photos make the point most clearly that she greatly respects the customs of the people of Iraq.

I thought the same thing when I saw those pictures.. I thought she didnt look as much american as she does Iraqi.. I think perhaps its her complexion, facial features, etc.. I have been watching the news daily to hopefully hear that she was released, maybe with them releasing the Irawi women yesterday that will get her released and back home..

She dressed that way so that she could blend in and travel about.

She immersed herself in their culture and traditions and really became part of their community. In interviews I saw with her Mom, she doesn't have the same coloring as her daughter, so maybe it comes from the Dad. The Iraqi people are asking for her release because she has become such a part of them.
