Stupid News Teasers!

I hate it when they show teasers for the news broadcasts! You know the ones..."Massive recall of Infant Formula...news at 11"....or "40 million cars recalled for faulty brakes"...news at 11" (Disclaimer - those were examples, not real ones!)

Just before 3:00 our ABC news affiliate showed a teaser for the evening news with the line "A real life headache for kids who read Harry Potter."

I wish they'd just tell us if there is a serious concern. I don't sit around all day waiting for the next newscast and often miss the details. Does anyone else detest this practice - or is it just me?

Oh please, you can really tell is is "sweeps" by the hysterical teasers on local news

Oh, I can let you in on that item, it was in CNN at least a week ago. Some doctors reported children complaining of headaches after reading the new Harry Potter in an intense manner. Well duh! The thing is is massive, took me almost 24 hours to finish and I had a headche too!

Well I can help you with that one, because I heard it on the radio the other day.

A Pediatrician published something in one of the medical journals reporting massive headaches in some kids who read Harry Potter 5 in marathon sessions without taking breaks to rest their eyes.

Big shock - huh?

The worst one I ever heard was:

"Three year old dies. Details at 11:00!"

I think that is absolutely horrible when they do that.

I figured it was something like that - considering I got one of those headaches myself! DD was racing to finish her homework & then was reading from ~7 until we removed the light bulb from her lamp! (At least until we banned all HP reading after 8pm! She'd get so excited that she couldn't get to sleep!)

In addition to annoying me (because I'm impatient) I don't really understand why they even do it! I don't know a single person who hops from channel to channel to watch the news based on the teasers! I have one station I like & that's it.
