This is from the www.chicagotribune.com site. I just thought it was a remarkable picture, certainly one which would bring memories to mind for many New Yorkers. I can see why there was/has been so much on the news about it today.

Wow, that's some picture. Could've been much worse, but tragic just the same.

And, oh yeah....awwwwwwww ;)

Thanks, Dan:)

Very reminscent of 9/11, Dan. Those cats are so cute.

Truly very stunning! I couldn't imagine what it would be like to live there and see it.

And as for that second one... awwwwww... it is just TOO CUTE!!!! Thanks Dan :)

I work downtown. we didn't hear the boom or see the plume of smoke, but it was a bit tense when we heard an announcement over the PA system that we had to close our windows because the smoke was headed our way.

I live in South Amboy NJ which is just across the Raritan Bay from Staten Island NY. I was outside working on getting our snow piles down when I heard the explosion. The smoke went straight up in the air, then headed towards NY. I thought it was on land. DH came outside, he said he thought I was throwing snow against the aluminum siding....It was a scary time, it could have been much worse. I was a young child when the amunition barge exploded in the Raritan bay in 1950 but I still remember the sounds and all the windows blowing out of the house.
