Has anyone ever read any of Janet Evanovich's "Stephanie Plum" series of books? The first one wasOne For The Money and I think she is up to 10 now. I picked up Hard Eight on Friday and couldn't put it down. I managed to read it all before turning in early Saturday morning. So I went back to the library in search of another yesterday. Guess what I did last night?...lol I think To The Nines was even better. The last page took me about 15 minutes to read. I was laughing so hard I couldn't see!!!

If anyone is looking for a funny slightly romantic mystery type book look no further :hyper:

Have a funtastic summer :sunny:

I discovered this series last summer and eventually ended up going to used book stores to buy all eight of these books. I am too cheap to buy the hardback, but the week that the paperback was released for #9 I got it and read it in a day and a half. Love that Grandma!

Are they violent? I love a good series, but have nightmares! (How dumb is that from a 40 year old?)

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: I'm reading the "10" book right now. I love the characters of her book......the sister with the mousey boyfriend, the grandma who goes nightly to the funeral "viewings' for entertainment, the sexy cop boyfriend, AND the even sexier "Ranger" guy.....great writing!

Yes I have read all of them too- very fun!

My other favorite female kick butt series are the alphabet ones by Sue Grafton (very fun, great writing...and she's up to R, so if you are just starting there are LOTS of books to read) and Diane Mott Davidson culinary mysteries- also very fun.

I love this series. I also love Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone series.::yes::

Other favourites:

The Sharon McCone series by Marcia Muller
The Alexandra Cooper series by Linda Fairstein

The Stephanie Plum novels are a laugh riot. I love them. If you like something with a little more edge to it try the In Death series by JD Robb. It's a futuristic police suspense series. JD Robb is actually Nora Roberts writing under a pen name. They are a little gruesome but great stories.

It's hard to tell Michelle ~ about the nightmare thing?? In the 8th one a life sized Rabbit was trying to kill her. It was kinda funny but??

If you want to read alittle into the 10th one you can do it at her website http://www.evanovich.com/ It brings you into the 2nd chapter. I am # 23 on the waiting list for the 10th book at the library ~ think I am gonna have to hit the book store today.....lol :D

Thanks for all the suggestions! Maybe this summer reading thing I started will turn into a year around thing ?

I think I was 54 on the waitlist at my library and got the call sooner than I thought-I think they have 10 copies.

I'm also waiting on the new Sue Grafton book. I very rarely buy , as I read a book a week.:D

I love these books. Also just got R is for Ransom, hardback as a gift. So I'll be starting this tonight. Also check out my absolute favorite series, Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody series. Not violent, in a normal way and just so cool.

I'm also a big fan of this series. I haven't gotten ahold of the 10th one yet, but I'm looking forward to reading it. I've even gotten my grandma hooked on them (but she's nothing like Stephanie's grandmother, LOL).

I think I can deel with a rabbit...;) I just don't like my entertainment to sound like the evening news! Thanks a lot!

I will have to look for these books. I LOVE to read but usually stick to 3-4 authors. I reread books a lot. You all would laugh if you knew how many time i have read the 6 Jane Austen books each.

Have you read "The Jane Austin Book Club" book??:p

These books are the best! I haven't gotten #10 yet but I can't wait to read it. There was one character (named Ramirez or something?) in one of the early books that really creeped me out, but most of the stuff that happens is so ludicrous it's funny. :p

Another crazy character is her "sidekick"-Lula, the chubby , spandex wearing , ex-prositute filing clerk.
:rotfl: :rotfl:

Yeah - Ramirez was pretty bad.

But "Ranger"....mmmmmmm....!! Lucky girl - having to choose between the "Cop" and him - what's a girl to do?!

I like the Perri O'Shaughnessy books with the laywer Nina Reilly. They take place in Lake Tahoe & Carmel - 2 places I'm familiar with, so that makes it fun. (Kinda like the Stephanie Plum books taking place in New Jersey must have a little more interest for those from that area.)

And they take place in Beautiful New Jersey!!!

If you like Evanovich you'll also love Harlan Coben!! He's from NJ too!!!

I inherited all 10 from my Mom when she downsized. I started ONE but couldn't get into it. Guess it is like Harry Potter and I'll have to try again. She loves them, she was laughing hysterically while reading 10 on vacation.

A friend of mine just recommended these books to me on Saturday! I'll have to check them out.
