I don't think I've ever eaten CS at MGM, so I'd love to know what's good and/or what to steer clear of!

My family and I always go to the ABC Commissary and we think it's a great location. Personally after seeing what it looks like from the inside, I would stay away from the Back Lot Express.

IMHO the only place I would do a CS meal during a day at MGM is Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. :lmao: I'm personally not a fan of any of the offerings MGM has for CS lunch. ABC Commisary doesn't do a half-bad breakfast though, if you like a yogurt parfait. :thumbsup2

Blech! I've never really enjoyed any of the MGM options. In fact we are going to spend some time at MGM next month so my parents can see the lights and I am a bit stressed over what we will do for dinner that night. Planet Pizza is not too bad. It certainly isn't good, but it's edible.

We also like the ABC Commissary. It's not fine dining but there are some perfectly acceptable choices. We like the asian stir fry noodles and the stew.

:)

Backlot express and Pizza planet are really good in my opinion. I've never been to ABC but the reviews on the disboard are pretty bad. I've heard worse then MCD's If it is hot Backlot express is nice and cool and out of the sun. They have excellent turkey sandwiches but the yogart parfait is

We like ABC Comissary. The Asian noodles and fried fish are favorites for our family.

Pizza Planet is the same as every other WDW fast food pizza place. Some people like it, some people prefer to skip it.

We've never had good food at the Commisary. Not much to pick from at MGM but Backlot Express has a decent turkey sandwich.

Im doing Hollywood and Vine. So thankfully i dont have to worry about CS at MGM, Seems like the choices are not that grand

Personally I like Flatbread Grill. Pizza Planet's pizza is standerd Disney pizza, but the atmosphere is worth it. You could take a trip over to the Swalphins Buffeteria, or Beaches & Cream. Boardwalk also has a pizza window. That will eat up a big chunk of your park time.

on one of our MGM days (half mgm/half EPCOT) we're leaving MGM, stopping at Beaches and Cream (after reading lots of nice reviews on this I thought we should try it, never been to the Beach Club before) and then continuing to EPCOT (dinner at Teppan Edo!)

On our full MGM day we have a Sci-Fi ADR for lunch and we're planning on going to a CS for dinner before the second showing of FANTASMIC. I'm thinking on either Pizza Planet (which I remember having liked on our last trip), but I thought we could try something new.

I was looking on the menus for MGM CS places and I found what seems like a nice Italian Sandwich on Catalina Eddie's (and if people want pizza, they can still have a cheese one!). Has anyone here tried that sandwich?

The ABC Commissary has decent offerings like the Cuban Sandwich, the other counter service places like Backlot express have pretty good sandwiches(turkey,Italian) and they all offer an OK burger. One thing I definitely stay away from is the Toy Story Pizza Planet after I saw a special on TV that showed how those pizzas are basically made with a computer that says how much pepperoni and cheese go on each pizza which is why they all come out exactly the same and there's nothing special about them. They should offer something a bit different like the flatbread pizzas at Capt.Cook's at the Polynesian.

I don't know why everyone says the CS is so bad at MGM! You get the same burgers, chicken strips and pizza as the other parks. The only thing I didn't like was the cuban sandwich at ABC Commisary - it was dry and yucky! However I see that the previous poster likes it so I guess it depends on your personal taste!

Excellent post! :thumbsup2 Its the same stuff that you get at the other parks. I do disagree with your opinion about the Cuban, I thought it was good for a fastfood place. Personal taste and all. :thumbsup2

The last time I was there- we ate a pulled pork or bbq pork sandwich at Backlot. It wasn't bad. Eating at Dis is pretty hard. One time we did bfast at H&V so we were not that hungry. THis time we have an early lunch at H&V. I'm not so psyched about the food (pretty bad reviews) but the kids really wanted to go back

I have to stick up for the backlot express too. We ate there a hot day in August and were able to find a cool room and were very comfortable and not crowded with others close by. We were on the dining plan and were able to get Frozen cokes for our dessert- a bonus. When my dd dropped hers right after the first drink they kindly gave me another one--- so nice. We had good typical counter service. Just get there before Indy lets out!
