The GFV studio seems like a great place to stay with my family.
DH, DW, DS age 25 and DD age 23.
DD could sleep on the pull out Dumbo bed - she is 5' 2"
DS could sleep on the pull out couch.

Where would you place the 2 tables in front of couch when the pull out couch is in use?

Also only one drawer under the bed.
Can you fit a lot of clothes in the closet?

If you fill up the garbage - where can we place the filled bag?
We do not mind mouse-keeping to come into our room every 4 days.
But we would be willing to empty the garbage into an a outside garbage can of some sort.
Where can we leave our filled up used garbage bag on a daily basis?

LAUNDRY - no facility in the studio.
Where are the washer and dyers?
Does the GFV have their own laundry room guests can use?
Do we have to walk over to the GF and use theirs, not exactly a nice walk !
How much does a load cost to do?

Thank yo for all your help.
The DIS'ers are the best :thanks:

We just got back yesterday. It was our first time in a VGF studio! Loved our room.

Tables - shoved them towards the round table. There's enough room for them after pulling out the couch. Placed couch pillows against sliding doors.
Drawers - there are 2 but one is blocked by the night stand. We used Ebags and slide them in/out of the blocked drawer.
Closet - not much... there's a row of cubby holes. And hanger area's blocked on the bottom by vac and stuff. We were able to hang our winter coats and a few of DD's dresses.
Garbage - We had additional bags on the bottom. There's a trash room, not sure where.
Laundry - 4th floor right by elevators. 2 washers and 4 dryers. They are free, but detergent is a dollar a box. Less people using them during the day. By late afternoon, there's a line!

We moved the books out of the nightstand to the drawer under the bed that wouldn't open very far and used that drawer for some of our clothes. And in closet moved the pack 'n play to the shelf on top to make more room for clothes. There really wasn't a lot of room for hang ups. I am beginning to think that Ebags might be the way to organize as you could slide them under the bed and put the empty luggage next to the connecting door to the 1BR. I would have left the coats in the luggage versus putting them in the closet. Unless it was cold at WDW. If you weren't using the tub (only the walk in shower) you get one of those hanging closet organizers to give you more shelf space.

As mentioned, there's a small cubby area in the closet, and about 3 feet of hanging space. We hung a few things, but for our family of 5, since we stayed during the summer (and our clothes take up much less space during the summer), we were able to use one cubby per family member, and I was able to fold unused underwear, shorts and t-shirts (for a 4-5 night stay) and place those in the cubbies. Our suitcases were stacked in the area leading by the connecting door, which has quite a bit of room. (You could just leave the clean clothes in your suitcase, putting dirty clothes in the drawers and cubbies, as well.) Similarly, if you brought a ton of hangers (or could ask for them?), you should have enough room to hang all of your family's shirts and fold shorts/pants/underwear in the cubbies.

Initially, I had bought a closet organizer to bring along, but forgot it. I don't think I'll bother during our next trip, unless we were to stay much longer, which isn't going to happen until we get more points. :earboy2:

You have to accept that four people staying in the GFV is not going to be like staying in another hotel with a dresser--it's not like moving in and unpacking and throwing the dirty clothes in the suitcase. It is a little tight, and takes a little bit of effort to coordinate how to organize your clothing, but in our opinion, it's definitely worth it. (Plus, you do have two separate showers, so that's a HUGE bonus for us as two people can get ready simultaneously.)

But where do you do laundry if in a studio - we stay for 10 nights and do one load on about day 5.
No washer dryer in the GFV studio - or any DVC studio, but BCV says the laundry is near the quiet pool near the BCV's.
I do not see a sign for laundry area at the GFV's
Does the GFV's have a laundry room off the 1st floor lobby somewhere?

Also where do you place a filled kitchen sized bag of garbage to be thrown away?
We are not messy people and will not leave it outside our room.

If you get off the elevators on the 4th floor, turn left and you'll look directly at the laundry room door. It blends in, but there's a little sign next to it. It does require a MB....for some reason only mine worked. Not sure why.

There has to be a trash room somewhere. Every DVC has one. We've only ever used the AKV-K and BWV ones and there were several on every floor. The trash cans in the studio are tiny, not like the bigger ones in the 1 & 2 bedrooms.

I really doubted this when they first came out. After this last trip, I see the benefit.... DH watches the kids as they take a bath and I get a nice shower.

Laundry is free on the 4th floor near the elevators.

Trash room near the elevators.

Packing cubes ROCK!!! I started using them a few years ago whenever all the airlines started charging for checked bags and I needed to learn how to cut back on how much I packed (we rarely seem to find the best $ deal on SW). I absolutely LOVE them and have slowly increased my "collection" of them over the years. We have different colors for each of us....2/3 of ours came from eBags and 1 color I actually found in the Sharper Image brand at TJ Maxx for even cheaper than eBags! I can't even pack for an overnight or weekend trip w/o them now! They are handy if you are staying in a shared space like in someone else's home...just take your cube to the bathroom if you need to change. They are super handy for our DVC trips and for cruises etc. We also each have 1 of the packing folders too - those are great for any dressier clothes you want to bring. I can now pack us in 1 carry-on per person for trips up to 6 nights!!

Trash room near the elevators.

Correct, to clarify the laundry room, from exiting the elevator on the 4th floor, it to the left, and down the first hallway just a few doors. The trash room is on each floor to the right as you exit the elevators, down the first hallway.

I'm trying to understand the layout of the bathroom in the VGF studios, you walk in and there is a sink and a shower behind a closed door, and then past that is a toilet with a tub behind closed doors? Any suggestions on where to put the pack and play if using the pull out sofa? I know I'm crazy but may have my mother and 8-year old niece stay in our studio with myself, DH and DD (1 year). I'm just trying to figure out where I will have DD sleep in the pack and play UNLESS I can let her sleep on the pull out bed under the TV, any way to get guard rails? Would that work?? I just cant imagine that the pack and play will be very comfortable for her.... she's used to sleeping in her crib.

Pack and play "may" fit in the shower/sink room. The pack and plays there are smaller than the ones we have a home. There's a door between the shower and toilet room. And both rooms have separate doors from the hallway. All doors are pocket doors.

You can maybe put the pack and play at the end of the sofa bed if you shift the table and chairs. There's also space across from the shower/sink door. It's the door joining the 1bedroom. We stacked all our luggages there and had room for the stroller.

I wouldn't let my 5yo sleep on the murphy because it's not flush against the "wall". There's a few inches and I was afraid he'd get his hand caught there or something. And the edges are metal and I was afraid he'd end up cutting himself. You can probably pad it. And to guard rail, I'd use luggages, highchair, the 2 chairs in the room. The bed is much lower.
