My husband and I (who are new to DVC) just booked a studio at BWV for the last weekend in September (during F&W and NSSHP!). My question is this - previously, we always stayed at one of the WDW resorts and had good luck requesting specific rooms. Will DVC take a request for an area we'd like to stay in? If so - where do we want to be...I've read SO many complaints that the Boardwalk view rooms are loud...how loud is that exactly? We mostly don't want to overlook a parking lot :) Any ideas about good rooms and how to handle when I call member services. This is our first DVC trip and I just want to have a nice experience. Thanks...

I always request a Boardwalk view. I have had a room just one level off the Boardwalk and unless you leave the balcony door open, I have never been bothered by noise. Now, if you are truly worried, ask for a main pool view. This will put you close to the elevators and not way out at the far end of the villas.

It sounds like you don't want boardwalk or parking lot view. If those are your only worries, just book a regular room (not standard), and you'll end up with some sort of water view.

You have to specifically request BWV, and all the parking lot views are standard (lower point) rooms. So this should work for you.

As far as specific areas, I'm 50/50 for requests. Once I asked for end of the hall. I personally didn't consider my location end of hall (I was 3 rooms down from the first split, about 45 rooms from the end of the hallway).

The other time, I asked for close to the elevators (Mom was using a scooter that trip). I was literally in the closest standard studio to the elevator.

So go ahead and ask, but don't be too surprised if you don't get what you asked for.

Yeah, lower your expectations. We've never had a room request granted at BWV - simple requests like "high floor." Its unlikely you'd get a BWView room for this September at this date (they are a guarenteed category - if you didn't book that specifically, you won't get it) though if there is a time of year you can manage it four months out it will be September. Same with Standard View. So you are talking preferred view. Many of these rooms will overlook either Luna Park (the theme pool) or the community pool. The Community Pool is a little quieter. A lot of people like way down at the end of the hall overlooking the canal - probably the quietest rooms at the BW - though other people don't like the walk (which, if you end up on a high floor and don't want to take stairs, can get a little long).

My requests are only 'higher floor'...no particular area. I have been on the boardwalk before and had no issue with sound at all. But, I was on the top floor. Perhaps if you are lower down, and are a light sleeper, it could be an issue. I actually had more noise issues overlooking the village green...over Muscles and Bustles, top floor. There always seemed to be people yelling to each other down there!! But, if you keep the door closed to the balcony, it's not an issue.
I had a terrific villa overlooking the quiet pool, with the canal to the left. I loved watching the Friendship boats passing, tooting their horns. Yes, it was a hike down those halls....about 235 steps if I remember correctly. We were about 2 villas from the end of the bldg...if you took the stairs two doors down, you came out on the pathway to MGM by the tennis courts!! But, it was the quietest room I have ever been in.

There are three booking views at BWV. One is standard (lower points) which overlooks the front driveway of Boardwalk along with some canal views. There are two preferred - guaranteed boardwalk view and pool/garden views. Which did you book because that will determine where your room is?

You can request close to the elevator or upper floor or both as far as the view the post above explains it.... You will enjoy the BW for the FWF no matter where you are as it is so easy to get to EPCOT
