Hey all...How is the studio and 1 bedroom combo to make a 2 bedroom? Is it just as nice as the normal 2 bedroom? We have that booked for December, decided to use our prize to take mom and aunt down, and we now have a 2 bedroom, studio/1 bedroom combo. Anyone stayed in those? Pros? Cons? Thanks gang!!

It depends upon the resort as to the exact configuration. At OKW, the studio will have 2 real queen beds. At all other resorts there will be a queen bed and a full-sized sofa sleeper.

There are some advantages to the lock-off units, depending upon the make up of your party. The folks in the studio portion will have a little more privacy and independance, as they will have an exterior door and can come and go without disturbing the people in the one bedroom section. They can also make their own coffee and snacks in the the kitchenette without disturbing the one bedroom residents. However, they will have less closet space than they would in a true two-bedroom unit.

The basic room configurations, other than the exceptios mentined, will be similar to a dedicated (non-lock-off) unit

They combine just like connecting rooms. There will be outside/key entrances to both rooms and an interior door between the rooms that can be opened or shut for privacy. At most of the resorts the studio consists of 1 Queen bed and a dbl sofa sleeper. Some (not all) "dedicated" 2brs have 2 queens, no sofa sleeper in the 2nd br.

Pro: kitchenette in studio, so extra fridge space or great for midnight snacks without waking anyone ;)

Cons: some people may not like that there is a door to the outside/hallway. Some may prefer 2 "real" beds instead of sofa sleeper.

The only difference is if you have a dedicated 2BR there is no separate outside entrance to the 2nd BR/Studio portion. I know in the dedicated 2br at OKW there was a huge closet where the outside entrance would normally have been for a studio. Most of the Studios I have stayed in are the lockoff of 2 BR units. I've never been in a dedicated 2br other than OKW so I don't know how the extra space is apportioned at the other resorts. I would think it is mostly a matter of a little extra storage space instead of the separate outside entrance. The balconies are the same for a lock-off or dedicated unit.

My memory may be off but I think the studio/one-bedroom combo gives the second bedroom a balcony that the dedicated 2 bedroom does not.....at least I think this is true for OKW. I'm not sure if this difference exists at the other resorts. Unless you have small children, I prefer the "lock-off" version.
