I can see why EW says that -- it's hard to sell a "dramedy", esepcially when it's set within the context of a TV comedy show. Is it funny, or isn't it? Sometimes it's like it's having an identity crisis. I remember the ads before the season started and I clearly thought it was a comedy, although it's not.
All the same, I love it -- when I saw the first scene of the pilot (with Judd Hirsch) I had a WOW moment. I rarely say that about tv shows.
I like this show a lot. Great cast, really good writing. The last few episodes (especially the Christmas episode) were really really good. But I just have a feeling it could be better. I'm a big fan of Sorkin--Sports Night & West Wing are two of my all time favorite shows---but even I started to say "enough already". He was very preachy in some of the earlier shows. But I know that NBC has said the show will last out the season. I'm hopeful that it can continue to get better.
But I did think the whole "Danny professing his love for Jordan" was bit forced and rushed. It looked like they were trying to wrap stuff up quickly. And the baby thing seems like it would have been better to add a few seasons down the road.. .
I can't wait for new episodes though!
I LOVED the ep where they talked about the blacklist. That was amazing writing.
I'm a HUGE West Wing fan, so this show was on my radar for a while before the season started. I can't wait for it to come back. It's not anywhere near as sharp as West Wing, but I keep thinking if we give them time, they'll get there. (of course I still want people to call Bradley "Josh")
