Stuck on the Duck...

You will be fine. I am Pooh sized, my DH and I rode together (combined weight about 500 lbs) and we were fine. I think if anything being heavier means you will go faster.....and FWIW, no one gets off the Aquaduck gracefully

Do you get really soaked on this ride?

You will get wet, but not soaked. I don't think my hair got wet. This made me think of another tip--the deck gets really scorching midday and the staff even request you were flip flops/water shoes. Make sure you have something that can get wet to wear. The fact they don't fly off is another indication of how slow the ride is )

If you sit in the back, you will get completely drenched. At one point the water came up behind me and over my head. It is hard to describe the exact spot it does it, but just be aware. Luckily my daughter warned me ahead of time that I was going to get drenched so it was not a problem. I never sat in the front spot of the raft so I don't know how wet you get there, but it seemed to be less than the back person.

Enjoy it! I was pretty nervous before I rode it the first time, but the minute we got to the bottom, I told my daughter let's ride again I rode it on CC day and there was not much of a line around 1:30 in the afternoon.

So I've heard about an unfortunate few who have gotten stuck on the Aquaduck and I don't want it to happen to me!!! Does anyone know why people get stuck? Is it too little weight? too much? What is the weight requirement? I'd like to ride with DH to make sure I don't get stuck (or if I do at least I won't be alone and he'll be able to revive me after passing out). I'm worried that the two of us will be too heavy to ride together. Does anyone know how much weight can be on the tubes? Thanks!

The more weight in the tube, the better the ride will be. So its ok to make that extra trip to the buffet in Cabanas!!

I tried to get up so quickly to make sure I was out of the way of the next tube, I flipped the tube and me with it!!

I joked when I was on the Aquaduck that the scariest part of it was getting into and out of the raft That didn't stop me from riding it about 10 times though, LOL.

There really is no graceful way to get out of the raft (and the CM's know this so don't worry about what they will think). When you get to the bottom, just roll over and out of the raft to your left until your knees are on the ground. Then stand up. Most times the CM is standing right there and will pull the raft out from behind you as you do this, making it easier for you to stand up.

Getting in the raft you just need to stand with your back to it, squat down and kind of fall back into it. Some CM's will tell you not to step into the raft first (as this can damage it) but other CM's don't care. It is easier to step into the front part and then sit down into the back but I also was able to get into the raft by just sitting back into it from the side and then turning to face forward. Just make sure if you are riding in back that you get in first.

You will if you ride in the back. At the two points where the water pushes you back up the hills (small hills), when you reach the top of the hill the water jets are still pushing and will spray up into your back and over your head, LOL.

Oh, I forgot to put in my .02 on the original question, LOL. It is too little weight that will cause the raft to get stuck. I was worried when my DS (7) rode with another boy, also 7. They are both pretty small and I was worried about them getting stuck, even though the CMs cleared them to ride together (they were both tall enough), so we told them what to do if that happened. But they were fine. Combined, I doubt they weighed much more than 100 pounds so the average adult or teen riding alone is fine. My DD (12) was able to ride alone with no problems although she is very tall and is the size of a small adult anyway.

DD10 is looking forward to riding the Aquaduck. I can't go with her, for a variety of reasons. I know she meets the height and weight requirements, but *in reality* I wonder if anyone has had a kid (or small adult) get stuck who were in the 80lb. range. Also, any tips on where she should sit, or how she should lean, etc?

We just got off the Dream last week. My ds is 75lbs and did the Aquaduck a number of times. He found it to go faster when he rode with an adult or his sister. He never got stuck on it alone but it did not go as fast.

You only have one option as far as seating so that really is not a factor

My YDD is 63 pounds. She never rode alone. She either rode w/ me, my husband or her 15 yr. old sister, who weighs about 102 pounds. I do know that little ones my ydd's age that rode alone (and probably weighed what she does or there abouts) did get stuck, so they stopped riding alone and never had that issue again.

Wow, you guys are awesome. I too have been researching this ride since Janurary as I can't do the tube rides at the water parks. I always feel like I can't breath (I can't do those wet sauna rooms either- give me dry heat!). So, I was estatic to see that the ride has some open areas where I can breath and thanks to you guys I am not fearful of getting stuck now either.

So here's what I have learned and will be applying to my cruise next week- I will be making hubby ride with me (and I am gonna make him sit behind me) and I am gonna ride it on the last day of the cruise, so it won't matter if my expensive hairdo gets ruined. :0)

Uuuugggghh!! My DS is 9 and is 50lbs soaking wet. He loves water slides and could ride until the cows come home. I'm going to have to fatten him up by next year because I know the rest of us don't want to ride the duck all week! Thanks for the heads up!

The kids might meet a friend at the club, pool, in line the same age range they could ride with. My brother made friends everywhere we went when we young.

Look at it that way, you probably won't see all those people ever again after the cruise. So why care if you don't hop off the ring elegantly.

I know but it is still hard. I miss my youth. Oh well. Looking forward to a heck of a cruise anyway.
