Stuck on the Duck...

So I've heard about an unfortunate few who have gotten stuck on the Aquaduck and I don't want it to happen to me!!! Does anyone know why people get stuck? Is it too little weight? too much? What is the weight requirement? I'd like to ride with DH to make sure I don't get stuck (or if I do at least I won't be alone and he'll be able to revive me after passing out). I'm worried that the two of us will be too heavy to ride together. Does anyone know how much weight can be on the tubes? Thanks!

I really wouldn't worry about it. I saw someone walking through it (maintenance?) and he was able to get through fine. So, even in a worst case scenario, you will be able to literally walk out if something goes wrong.

I don't mean to make light of your concern, but I find it a bit interesting that it seems like people on this board have come up with every possible scenario in which to be concerned. I guess we all share a common preoccupation with all things Disney, but at the same time one of the great things about Disney is that it encourages us to leave our fears at the door and just soak up that Disney spirit. Some of the worries expressed on this board go too far.

So, relax, you are going to have a great ride down the Aqua Duck!!!!!

I'm worried because I am claustrophobic so honestly, riding the Duck and even being ON a cruise is a big step for me. (I don't like feeling trapped) So I was just wondering if anyone knew what the weight limit was because I would like to ride it with DH...but of course I can't find this info anywhere on the Disney website!

And I'm definitely not focusing on all of the things that could happen (and there are a LOT if I really thought about it) I'm actually extremely excited about this trip and I can't wait to sail on the Dream!!

The tube that you slide through is big. It was on another board; either 52" or 62" diameter. As for max weight, I have only read that a minimum weight is the problem, not max.

I am claustrophobic also. I went on the Aqua Duck 3 times and would have gone more if I had the time! I panicked the first time at the top of the line when I heard the lifeguard tell each person as they got in the tube that if they stop, stay in the tube and someone will come help them. I asked him if he meant getting stuck. He said yes, but not to worry since it rarely happens and is usually when there is only one person in the tube who is a smaller child. So, the less weight in the tube, the more of a chance of getting stuck. I always went with one of my kids and we went pretty fast. I never even had time to feel claustrophobic since it was so fast and so much fun!

I'm more worried about falling out of the raft while going down the ride. Has anyone heard of that happening?

I haven't heard about anyone falling out of the tube and I'm not sure it's even possible to fall out because it's completely enclosed.

Sorry, I meant the raft you sit in to go down the ride. I am worried about falling out of that.

Look at it this way: The guard at the top wouldn't let the two of you ride together if he/she think it's too much weight. Short of them saying "no", I wouldn't worry. ;)
Worst case scenario is that you each have to ride in your own tube.

I want to assuage your concerns. The rafts you sit in have a fairly deep "seat" in the middle for your bottom. You feel pretty secure. With my hubby and I, I think we were about 350 pounds on there--not mention of an upper weight limit that I saw. There *are* parts of the tube that are open, one where you are propelled up a small hill but let me state, this is *not* a scary ride. It is a SLOOOOOW ride. Think slightly more exciting than a lazy river (the excitment being the location--on top of a ship!). It is fun, easy going experience. You'll be fine.:lovestruc

Revenge of the Aqua Duck as it swallows it's victims whole.... :scared1: What kind of remedy is given for a duck obstruction when thing run fowl. :donald:

I guess the ride is not all that it is quacked up to be :lmao:

I have not been on the Dream yet, but I know that there was a couple of stories about this topic talked about on the DisUnplugged Podcast. It was called Disney Dream Review. There is also another one called Disney Dream Christening. Both are great to listen to and gather up info for your upcoming Disney Dream Cruise.

I'm concerned about looking like a clown getting off the raft at the end of the ride. I think my "graceful" days are behind me. [Getting off Space Mountain isn't as easy as it used to me either.]

Look at it that way, you probably won't see all those people ever again after the cruise. So why care if you don't hop off the ring elegantly.

Trust me, no one gets off Space Mountain elegantly. (I worked there, so I spent many an hour watching people get out...) As long as you didn't get out on the other side, we didn't make fun of you later. ;)

I was just on the 4/10 Dream and rode the Aquaduck about 5 times...
Here are my thoughts on all the above posts...

I too dont like small spaces and had no problem with the ride, especially since most of it is through a clear tube

The lighter weights get stuck, the CM encouraged me to go with my son because he wanted to go "faster"

Fast on the Aquaduck is not really "fast"...compared to the many water slides that I have been on at assorted water parks the Aquaduck is pretty lame/slow

There is just about nobody at the end of the ride where you get off so if you struggle a bit, as I did, nobody will make fun of you..

The rafts are deep and very cushy...I can not imagine anyone flying out of one mid-ride, especially if you hold onto the handles. There are only 2 real "dips" and I dont think my butt lifted from the seat at all.

The ride is shorter than I imagined it would be, it is over before you know it.

Leave your concerns at home and enjoy the ride!!!!!:thumbsup2

The ride slows down a lot after it passes through the forward stack. Some kids meet the height requirement but they don't weigh enough to keep the raft up to speed. You’ll see the launch personnel telling skinny kids what to do if they get stuck (rock back and forth) . If a kid does get stuck they will get a wrist band when they finally arrive at the end. This will tell the crew that they need to ride with another person in the future.

If you ride in the front you'll get wet. If you ride in the back you'll get soaked.
