Stuck on Splash, Swimming in Sewage, & Still Laughing! A "Classy" 6/11 TR- 5/6 DONE!

When we got back to the resort I was starting to get into that panicky mode we all experience when our trips are almost over. I didn’t want to miss a thing (cue Aerosmith music) so I stopped to see the animals again!

There was a giraffe and ostrich party going on, so I took a couple of pictures of that.

AnniversaryTrip591.jpg

I’ll miss you, giraffes. *sigh* :(

AnniversaryTrip592.jpg

Once we got back to the room John took a little nap while I showered and started packing. We were leaving pretty early the next day, so I wanted to get as much done as possible that evening. After I was ready I woke John up, we watched a little Stacey, and made our way to the lobby.

On our way out we stopped in the resort gift ship. AKL has an amazing gift shop and I had been eyeballing some things in there all week. I ended up getting an AKL pin for myself, a AKL shot glass for my dad, and an AKL ink pen for my mom. I thought about getting some animal print Minnie ears again, but decided against it. I then proceeded to spend about twenty minutes drooling over the Dooney and Bourke sketch totes. I had my beloved crossbody bag, but I just couldn’t get over how beautiful the big white totes were. After I wiped the drool of my chin (Not literally! That would be gross!) we paid for our items and moved on.

We didn’t have any dinner plans for our last night, so we decided to go to DTD and see if we could squeeze into a restaurant.

When we got to DTD the only parking spot we could find was by the movie theater. We were both exhausted, so neither of us felt like walking to the Marketplace side. We agreed to see if we could get in for dinner at Planet Hollywood.

The hostess working at the podium was less than pleasant, but she did tell us we could be fit in if we waited about thirty minutes. We decided we didn’t mind, so she sent us inside to wait.

The place was PACKED, and there were desperate hopefuls just like ourselves standing around aimlessly waiting for a table. I instantly started to get a little claustrophobic, so I told John I was going to walk around and take some pictures while we waited.

I took this one for my mom. It’s one of the leather jackets from the movie Wild Hogs. My mom loves that one! She is a huge Tim Allen fan.

AnniversaryTrip593.jpg

This one was for ME. It’s Jack’s outfit from Titanic! EEP! I was so excited. This had been a week full of Titanic memorabilia!

AnniversaryTrip594.jpg

I got really excited about this one too. It’s from the Arnold Schwarzanegger (or however you spell it) Christmas movie, Jingle All The Way. I LOVE that movie. “You’re my numbah one customah!” If you’ve seen it you will totally understand my typed out version of Arnold’s accent. If you haven’t seen it, just ignore me.

AnniversaryTrip595.jpg

The next few I took for John.

AnniversaryTrip596.jpg

AnniversaryTrip597.jpg

He loves both of those movies!

So when I got back to John we proceeded to stand around for a while longer and wait…and wait…and wait. Okay we had been waiting for a REALLY long time. Definitely longer than thirty minutes, and that places was just getting more and more crowded. :headache: As much as we wanted to have a nice dinner on our last night in Disney, we both decided it wasn’t worth waiting anymore, so we got the heck out of there!

So where did we end up going for dinner on our last night in Disney World?

McDonald’s. Yeah, I’m not kidding. Can you believe that?! We were both pretty disappointed, but honestly we were just too tired and hungry to care.

When we got back to the resort after our less-than-satisfying dinner John and I were both feeling a little blue. It was our last night in Disney! WAHH! Luckily, there was a pleasant surprise waiting in our room for us!

AnniversaryTrip598.jpg

Okay so please remember this was the first time we had ever stayed in a deluxe resort, so we weren’t sure if a turn down service was automatically included or if we just got lucky. Either way, we were pretty excited! We were definitely feeling like the Ritzies at this point! (Fresh Prince of Bel Air reference, anyone?)

AnniversaryTrip599.jpg

So cute! There was a little white chocolate mask thing, some other chocolates, and a room service menu! When we saw that we both wished that we had gotten that for dinner instead of boring McDonalds! Oh well, maybe next time!

The turn down service managed to turn our frowns upside down. (Cheesiest sentence EVER, right there.) We turned on Stacey and chatted about our trip while we did some more packing. I’m pretty sure it was at this point that we started making plans for our next trip! Haha, what can I say? I’m a true DISer! ;)

Even though I wanted to drag out our last night, my brain had other plans, and I just couldn’t stay awake anymore. We crawled into bed, said goodnight, and drifted off on our last night in Disney.

Up Next: John’s got one more surprise up his sleeve! You won’t want to miss this! Stay tuned!

Awesome update!

So funny you went to McDonald's for your last supper, but I have to admit that we wouldn't have waited for a table either.

I can't wait to hear what John had in store :goodvibes

That is awesome that your student won AIE!!! Maybe she'll get far?! You should still watch this season, it's great! I love Hollie and Skylar and Joshua and Jessica. I'd be fine with any of them winning!

The Pixar Pals Parade is awesome. I still miss Block Party Bash though haha. Oh well. I do think it's AMAZING that they added in the characters from Ratatouille and Up though!

I'M A HUGE TIM ALLEN FAN TOO! Hahhaa I just LOVE him! Me and your mom should be besties. Although I admit I've never seen Wild Hogs... haha. :moped:
OH DEAR GOD TITANIC. They have outfits from Titanic at the Planet Hollywood in Myrtle Beach too, but NOT JACK'S OUTFITS. Disney just wins in every way, even in which movie costumes get sent to restaurants on their property.

"DASHA-DANCA-PRANCA-VIXEN-COMET-CUPID-DONNA-BLITZEN." aaaand repeat. ;)

Hahaha I understand how you feel... McDonald's was our FIRST meal of our trip and I was like, yall, are we seriously going here right now though? WE JUST GOT HERE. At least it was on property hahah.

WOW! Chocolates on the pillows? That's so fancy!!! I wonder if they do that at a lot of Deluxes or if it's just an AKL thing? Either way, so awesome! (They should really make a fancy guy smiley, complete with skinny mustache, to go along with all the other awesome new smilies. It would have been perfect in this situation.)

Found your trip report a few days ago, and you are absolutely hysterical!! I am all caught up now and can't wait to start reading your next one!!

I can't even explain how much I LOVE Pixar Characters. Oh my God :lovestruc

lkxjvldzckjvxlxckvjcxkjvcxkljhlckjhv JACK'S OUTFIT FROM THE TITANIC!?!? TITANIC MEMORABILIA!!?!?! I may have to make a stop over there at some point!

LOL McDonalds. That's hilarious  I give you props for justifying mcdonalds in Disney, especially on your last night!

Aww what a fabulous turn down service! Those chocolates are SO GOOD :cloud9:

I've been reading your entire TR and it's great. Would love to stay at AKL one day. I feel the same way as you. I cannot bring myself to stay anyplace else but Disney. Just not the same. Dh and I had done Universal Studios one day on our HM and we weren't loving it. We had fun but doubt we'll go back. I wouldn't mind checking out IOA one day but that's about it. Next to Disney though, SeaWorld is our other favorite place, the park is beautiful and our kids love aquariums so this is a great place for us to spend the day. The Shamu show makes me tear up every time!

You were not wrong in holding the space for your dh on line that day. It was one person and you were sharing only one car. Blotchy guy is just being a jerk and since he's so miserable, guess he has to try and make everyone else that way too. What if the tables were turned and one of his had to go the bathroom and his wife had to hold a space for him and his kid. If I was a betting person, if someone had done to him what he'd done to you, his head probably would have exploded. :scared1:

Going to check out the rest of your TR's also! :goodvibes

Awww, the Pixar parade looks adorable! We never stay for afternoon parades though, but I'd like to see that one someday! :lovestruc

Haha, I do the same thing when I'm leaving a park, try to find a way to stall as much as possible! :rotfl:

Ugh, I can't stand Planet Hollywood! We went there in 2009 and haven't been back since, I don't like how you're practically sitting on top of your neighbors, because the tables are SO close together. :scared1: It's too bad too, because the food is good, but it's just so claustrophobic! :scared1: I'm sorry you guys didn't get in though, that's annoying waiting so long only to have to leave!

OMG though, I'd freak out over Jack's outfit from Titanic! Have you seen it in 3D yet? I haven't and it's been out for 3 weeks I think...I hope we can go this weekend, I have to see it in 3D!!! I love that movie so much!

Glad you guys liked the turndown service, that was really nice of them at AKL to do that! They did that for us at BC and we always thought it was so cool...we're definitely not used to things like that! :rotfl2:

Yay, finally the surprise! I'm shocked I remember what it is!

Love the special treat when you got back to the room -- we have never stayed at AKL -- it is definately on my list --- I love going there to eat at Boma --- My parents stayed one of the first weekends it opened :-) (just a fun random fact about total strangers)

So, I spent any free moment I had today reading your trip report becaus I JUST discovered it and I enjoyed it sooo much! You have had me laughing out loud with every update!

When I read the part about the....smell....in the hallway and what the older couple said, I laughed so hard I cried! I called my fiance to tell him and it took me like five minutes to tell the story because I could NOT stop laughing! :lmao: :rotfl:

You guys remind me a lot of my fiance and I! You are too funny!

I can't wait to read the last couple of updates of this trip report! I'm moving on to your current one as well!

Wow, another double update! You really are getting underway with your TRs, Joni. Oh well, it means for another extra super long Timmy comment YAYYYYY!!! lol

YAY! American Idol Experience! I LOVE that show! Probably one of my favorites in Disney! I'm a long time fan of the show though I don't watch it as much anymore since Simon left, but I love how they keep the spirit of the original three (Simon, Paula and Randy) with this show and the warm-up CM guy is hilarious! They also do get some great performances on the stage and it's great to know there are still real singers out there, not those gobbled up in stupid auto-tune crap (Rebecca Black, the bane of my existence :P) Yeah, sorry, had to rant about that. Good to hear though the girl you voted for got through and that's awesome one of your students got the golden ticket! Has she gone to audition for the legit AI yet?

Oooo... Countdown to Fun! It really does look now like it is shaping up to be a good parade. I was so upset when they got rid of Block Party Bash, such a fun parade when I saw it! I miss it :'( And when they first came out with this, the parade was a huge bust, seriously all they did was re-use the floats (which they are still doing), but it was all very toned down too, I mean some floats had no characters at all. Of course, this was all through video, but... it was just saddening. The worst part was at the end, all they had were the oversized traffic cones, which used to be the coolest things ever and then a few girls holding flags not doing anything. It was disappointing... but from what you say it seems pretty chill now, especially with Dug, Russell and Carl as well as Remy and Emile in the parade. EPICNESS! :thumbsup2 to your picture with Bo!

Awwww... last night in Disney, always such a tragic thing. Seriously, I think the last night of any trip tops classic tragedies like Romeo & Juliet or Pyramus & Thisbe... oh wait those are basically the exact same thing. But yeah, you get my point. Very jealous of your savannah view again, may have to bargain for one of those with the parental units if I stay at AKL again :cloud9: :thumbsup2 to buying the pins and all the other Disney souvenirs! I just got an AKL pin from my friend who was in Disney recently... wonder if we have the same one. It isn't this right?

005.jpg

No? Yes? I guess I'll wait...

Sorry you didn't get to have a nice dinner at Planet Hollywood (talk about less than pleasant) But those are great pictures you got around the place! I just watched Titanic for the first time awhile back so I can understand the excitement over those memorabilia, a shame they didn't have the Heart of the Ocean, that would be something cool to see right there ::yes:: But love all the pictures you got of the classic movie memorabilia anyways :) Sorry you ended up at McDonald's though, at least you got to eat without waiting forever, right? :teeth:

Awwww... that's so nice that room service left some goodies for you guys! I could totally take a white chocolate tiki head or whatever from Disney over McDonald's + Waiting for an imaginary seat at Planet Hollywood. But, at least it ended your night off better than you expected.

Sad to see another awesome TR end, but can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Awesome update!

So funny you went to McDonald's for your last supper, but I have to admit that we wouldn't have waited for a table either.

I can't wait to hear what John had in store :goodvibes

Thanks! :)

We regretted our McDonald's dinner, but we were just too tired to care at the time!

That update is coming up! Stay tuned!

Ah- sorry you didn't get Disney food on your last night!

can't wait for the last surprise!

That's okay, we were bummed but at least it was fast! :thumbsup2

Stay tuned! It's a good one!

That is awesome that your student won AIE!!! Maybe she'll get far?! You should still watch this season, it's great! I love Hollie and Skylar and Joshua and Jessica. I'd be fine with any of them winning!

I hope my student does well when she auditions...she's really good! Even though I'm mad about Deandre getting voted off I couldn't stay way, so I started watching again. I really like Phillip!

I love that the characters from Up are there. They are some of my favorites, besides Toy Story!

Hahaha you and my mom would get along great! We watch Home Improvement ALL THE TIME. We used to go to Myrtle Beach every summer, like ever since I was a baby! Have you ever been to the Gay Dolphin? I swear, that store still has stuff on the shelves that was there when I was an infant.

I LOVE YOU. Every Christmas, and I mean EVERY Christmas, I dance around my house listing Santa's reindeer in my Arnold voice. We are long lost sisters.

Yeah I feel like the fact that it's on property makes the McDonalds a little better. Not much, but a little.

I agree, that would be an amazing smiley! Haha he could have one of those little eye pieces and a top hat. They need to make this happen.

Found your trip report a few days ago, and you are absolutely hysterical!! I am all caught up now and can't wait to start reading your next one!!

:welcome: Thank you so much! I'm glad you are enjoying it!

That's exactly how I feel about them!

Seriously, I got so excited when I saw that! They have some really awesome Titanic stuff!

I still can't believe that's where we ate. Ugh, I will not make that mistake again!

We were so excited! We felt so fancy!

Thank you! I'm so glad everyone here has agreed with me! I think you're right, he is probably the type that can dish it out but can't take it! Oh well, if he wants to be miserable on his vacation I guess that's on him!

Awww, the Pixar parade looks adorable! We never stay for afternoon parades though, but I'd like to see that one someday! :lovestruc

Yay, finally the surprise! I'm shocked I remember what it is!

That parade is great! You should try to catch it sometime!

Haha nothing like stalling. John always sees it coming and tries to drag me out!

Ugh yeah Planet Hollywood is not my favorite. It is way too crowded, and I feel like the people are kind of rude.

I haven't seen it yet, which is crazy because it's my favorite movie off all time. I seriously know every word! My sister and I are going to try and see it on Wednesday, because I'm pretty sure it's out of theaters around here after Thursday.

Ooh I hope we get the turn down service at Beach Club! We loved it!

Haha it's coming up next!

Love the special treat when you got back to the room -- we have never stayed at AKL -- it is definately on my list --- I love going there to eat at Boma --- My parents stayed one of the first weekends it opened :-) (just a fun random fact about total strangers)

You would love it! It's so amazing! That's so great that your parents stayed there right when it opened! That's a really cool random fact! ;)

Yay! I love super long Timmy comments! ;)

I agree with you about AI. I love the CM at the beginning, too! I think his name is Ali? That seems to ring a bell. Anyway, my student hasn't auditioned yet. She's going to have to wait until the next season, but she's super excited!

I think you'll really enjoy Countdown to Fun! I love the added Pixar characters, especially those from Up. They're some of my favorites! :goodvibes

I love that you referenced Romeo and Juliet! I bet your English teachers love you! Seriously though, very tragic! We actually didn't have a Savannah view, but we were able to get some awesome views of the animals in the hallway!

Yep, that's the pin! How nice of your friend to bring it back for you!

Yeah, even though Planet Hollywood was disappointing it was really cool to see the Titanic stuff. So, what did you think of the movie when you saw It's my absolute favorite! I love it so much!

That turn down service was really nice! It was a pleasant surprise!

Thanks for reading along again! I love your comments and commentary! :)

Well, here it is! The last update of this TR (not counting the wrap up post). I can’t believe it’s actually over! And YAY to me for finishing a TR in under a year this time! :thumbsup2 I’m so sad to see this baby end, but at least I still have my December 2011 TR to keep me busy until July!

Okay so there’s no point delaying the inevitable any longer…let’s do this thing. Oh, and forgive me in advance for the lack of pictures. I am kind of bad about taking pictures on our last day. It’s just so sad. :( We woke up the next morning, naturally, feeling like we could cry. Oh wait, I did cry. A lot. I cried while I showered, I cried while I brushed my teeth, I cried while I dried my hair…you get the point. John is such a good hubby, and he tried his best to console me for a while, but then he realized that it was pretty much pointless so he just let me wallow in my misery.

We were hitting the road early that morning, so there was nothing really fun to look forward to before we left. While I finished getting ready John went to load some small things in the car and grab us a quick breakfast from the food court. He was back about fifteen minutes later with two cheese danishes and one last resort mug full of Diet Coke for me. We ate our breakfast while watching Stacey, and as much as I love her I couldn’t help but be a little bitter because I was leaving Disney World and she is stuck in this perpetual vacation where she gets to do the must dos 24/7. *Sigh* I need her life. :rolleyes1

Before I knew it, it was actually time to leave. We gathered all our luggage and rolled it out. I sat down on a bench right outside the lobby while John went to pull the car around. While I was sitting there a lady came up to me and asked me if I would mind taking a survey about our resort stay. I was pretty excited because this had never happened to me before, so I said sure. She handed me this little computer and I got to work. Little did I know, this survey took FOREVER. It was so detailed! John got back with the car and ended up having to load it up all by himself because I was still taking that stinking survey!! Well, not all by himself. The friend valet CMs were glad to help, much to John’s chagrin. (Remember what I said a loooong time ago in this TR about John being in situations other than dining that require tipping? It makes him very uncomfortable.)

When I finally finished the never ending survey it was time to say goodbye to the beautiful Animal Kingdom Lodge, and more importantly, to Disney World. I got in the car with a heavy heart, absolutely sure that I would never be happy again. :(

That is, until, John asked me to reach in the back seat and grab his sunglasses. I reached around to grab them, and I saw...

AnniversaryTrip600.jpg

Haaaaallelujah! The heavens had opened up and deposited a LARGE DOONEY & BOURKE SKETCH TOTE right in my backseat!! :hyper:

And that, my friends, is what we call the most amazing anniversary surprise ever, given by the world’s best husband. I’m just saying.

Apparently he had snuck down and bought this for me while he was getting breakfast. Then had hidden it in the backseat and I never even noticed. He said, and I quote, “I know how hard it is for you to leave Disney, so I just wanted to make you feel a little better.” Sorry ladies, he’s all mine! :lovestruc

Here’s the back of the most perfect bag in the world!

AnniversaryTrip601.jpg

I was so distracted by my gorgeous new bag that I almost missed this depressing sight:

AnniversaryTrip602.jpg

Ugh, the back of THE sign. That’s something no one wants to see. :rolleyes2

John’s surprise gift accomplished its goal, however, and I was relatively chipper the entire ride home. I even managed to secretly video tape John singing some of his favorite songs. The videos are hilarious and I was going to post them on here, but I just can’t bring myself to do that to him. I mean, he bought me a Dooney & Bourke, y’all. ;)

The drive home always seems so much longer than the drive to Disney, but before I knew it we were almost there. We ended up getting home at about 8:00. I was happy to see my family and my dogs, and I gave them all their souvenirs and told them about our amazing trip. I fell asleep that night dreaming of my next Disney vacation. Luckily it was only six months away!

Up Next: The wrap up post! Stay tuned!

Oh my goodness, you definitely have a keeper there. But you already knew that. ;)

How absolutely sweet of him to do that to help you with the sadness of leaving. I cry a bit on departure days too and also get bitter towards Stacy. I just want to stay there forever.

Sigh... last mornings suck. The end. That darn (LOVELY) Stacy has it made.

Omg, I took a survey in December and you're right, they're INCREDIBLY LONG. Goodness gracious.

That's the SWEETEST thing ever! Wow, I just "AWWWWW"-ed out loud. :)

Can't believe this is almost over! I'm so glad you have your December TR too! I'd be sad without your updates for over 2 months!

He is definitely a keeper ::yes::

What an amazing gift, am gonna show this update to my husband and see if he gets the hint!

Yay for John! He sure does know his DW well! How sweet of him to be so sympathetic! That bag is perfect too, great placement and everything!
