Stuck at 192

I have lost over 80 pounds since January 2003, and I feel great. I am doing Atkins, and everyone (me, family, doctor, friends) are thrilled with the results so far. Since Jan or so, I have bounced up and down between 192 and 198 - easy on and easy off. So a few weeks ago I decided to go back on Induction and break through that 192 barrier that my body seems so happy at. I am doing well with my food choices, I added in more activity at the same time, and I feel great BUT the scale WON'T BUDGE FROM 192! Aaargh!

Yes, I am drinking plenty, eating 20 - 30 carbs, etc., etc. etc. Something's gotta give, soon, though, right?

I'd like to hit 180 as an intermediate goal to getting to around 150 (I am only 5'4", but I don't think I could get under 150 because of the excess skin that poofs around the #@$!! hips).

Plesae just tell me that sticking to my regimen will have results (SOON!).

Thanks, you all!

Hang in there! Those stalls can be maddening!!

Have you measured? Are your clothes fitting the same way? Is there any chance you've lost inches but not pounds?

What's the alternative - you could go back to eating everything and anything and gain it all back! Even if you never lose another pound, you're much healthier now! Stick with it and I know it will work!

Plateaus..........STINK!

I hit one big time this past few months, I would never want to give out te wrong advise but what I did was...........

Ate carbs alots of them for about 3 days and then went right back to LC......it worked for me.
I posted many threads here about plateaus and was told to try induction and or stricty LC for a few days, it didnt work for me....also another you can do is really change around your excercise routine..............
At that time, I was going to curves and I think my body had gotten used to it, I let my memebership run out and spent the following years memebership on a treadmil and began jogging.......
Not wha I am telling you to do but curves VS. 2-5 miles on a treadmil is a different routine!

Goodluck whatever you may decide...........

I don't know what it is about 192, but I was stuck there for quite a while myself! My DR said that sometimes your body just needs a break from losing, & that if I stuck with what I was doing the weight would start coming off eventually. I did stick with it, & he was right. The weight did eventually start coming off again. I can tell you I was very relieved when I finally saw the scale start to move again. Hang in there. Yours will too!

Thanks for the encouragement. The good thing is that I am the lowest weight in probably 22+ years! I will stick with it - went out for dinner tonight at the local tavern and had salad, prime rib (brought some home), and veggies. No bread, no dessert, no beer. Didn't feel deprived, either!

I'll let you all know when that scale starts to move down again (and no, the clothes aren't really any looser - bit not tighter, either!)

(perfectmatch - I am a Nancy, too! And Doe - I live VERY close to Doylestown. Small world, huh?)

I agree with what PM's Dr said. Your body has a lot to adjust to and it may just take time. I know it's very hard not getting the payoff, but you may just have to be patient for a little while and think of the greater good. Buy yourself some nice jewelry or get a new haircut. Reward all your hard work so far and you'll probably be moving onward and downward before you know it!

Do give your body time to adjust (although I get just as frustrated when I'm stuck)

Also try a little exercise or if you are, a little more. Sometimes moving will push you to where you need to go.
