I'm finally down to my 11 month mark and I've been posting on this board for well over a year so I decided it as time to start my planning journal. I can't believe I'm finally down to less than a year, its nice to not have to say I'm getting married in two years. I'll add photos as I can find them. DFI just reinitialized his computer and put all our photos on discs..but didn't label them. Plus pics of me in my dress are at my moms house so Kevin doesn't peek.

Kevin and I met on November 1, 2003 after meeting and talking to each other online. He found me while I wasn't looking for anyone and I had never even planned on meeting him in person since he is six years older than me and I was not quite 18 at the time (gotta love my dirty old man!) Personally I don't remember much about when we talked online, it wasn't for too long (although Kevin disagrees and says we talked almost daily for at least a month) At the time I was interested in someone else and was going on a few dates with him. I was set to go out with this other guy one night when he canceled at the last minute. I went online to see if any of my friends were available to go out and instead I found Kevin online asking me out. I finally said yes and left to meet him at the movies (I was safe, I had other friends follow me to make sure he wasn't a serial killer :) ) We had a fantastic night at "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (I'm such a lucky girl!) and we talked for a few hours afterwards. I honestly knew by the end of the night I was going to be with him for a while, and by the end of the first week I knew I would marry him. For something that was such a last minute encounter it really was the best decision of my life.

Our first picture together, I think maybe a week or two after our first date

On our two year anniversary we moved into an apartment together with my baby Stuart and then his older adopted brother Lucas was finally able to come live with us after spending a month at the vet because he was road kill, and on our 3 year anniversary we packed up the kitties and moved into our current apartment.

(super short version) We got engaged on my 21st birthday on the beach of the Poly. Kevin did a fabulous job of keeping the secret and had enlisted the help of Jane from gifts of a lifetime and we had a treasure hunt on the beach. We finally found where my treasure chest was (literally) buried in the sand and he got down on one knee as asked me to marry him.

So now were set to get married here in New Jersey on November 1, 2008, 5 years to the day we met. We will be taking our disneymoon November 11-19th at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and I can't wait!

More to come...

I still don't have the photo of me in my dress but here is the dress itself

I knew I loved this dress before I tried it on. I had seen it in a million bridal magazines and I saw it in the store when we went to buy my sister's wedding dress and it truly was my dream dress. I had made a note to remind myself to tell the girl when I went to try on dresses not to let me try this one on because it was out of my price range. Well I forgot to tell her and she was literally just putting dresses on me before I could see what they were so when I walked out of the dressing room I thought I was going to cry. It was just as perfect as I thought it would be. I didn't need to try anything else on. I never thought I would want a non white dress but this dress just took my breath away. For the heck of it I looked at it in all white and it just didn't do anything for me. I was finally able to buy the dress (after saving up for 10 months) about 2 weeks ago. Its currently at my moms house hanging with my sisters dress (she is getting married this may). Maybe its just me but I had NO idea David's Bridal was an off that rack store. When my sister got her dress they ordered her a new one, when I tried mine on they sold me the one I tried and refused to order me a new one. It was in perfect condition...but still. Nobody ever said I had to take the sample, I was just expecting a brand new dress for the price I paid.

I got the short veil that matched the dress. At first I didn't think I was going to be able to get it since my total budget was sucked up by the dress, by my grandma bought it for me as a birthday/christmas gift.

Image7.jpg

The details on the veil match the details on my dress exactly. I never wanted a veil until the sales girl had me try it on, now I don't know how I could have never wanted it. It totally completes the look.

As for shoes I know I wanted a very low or no heel shoe. i was having a pretty hard time finding some and then I thought, why didn't I just look at Davids? Well of course they had something I liked and for only $50 they were just what I needed. The shoes had to be ordered because they didn't have my size. They actually just came in last night so hopefully my mom will be able to pick them up for me today since I'm so far from the store.

I'm going to get them dyed the champange color so they match my dress

p.s. I live in South River. Last year it was Old Bridge and before that Manalapan. My Dfi is actually looking to maybe move us to Texas, how do you like it compared to Jersey. I'm sure its the exact opposite.

I was hoping to go look at bridesmaid dresses soon, but seeing as its only my sister (MOH) and my s-i-l (BM) I'm trying to wait until I can go with both of them. Its been kind of hard trying to set a time to go because my sister just moved to Ohio to be a zookeeper and she only comes home about for about 2 days every months and of course she wants to spend it with her fiance or planning her own wedding. Who could blame her? At this point I'm thinking maybe I'll try to fit in a Christmas week trip to Davids (ahhh) since she will be here almost a full week. Otherwise I'll go with Tara my sil and see how she likes the dress or see if we should look at something else since she is going to pretty much be the one who decides on the dress. At least my sister is pretty easy going with whatever I put her in and she is practically model built so she will look fine in anything.

Image9.jpg

This is the dress I really love. We will have to see though because my sil is a very tiny person (size zero) so I don't know how this dress will look on her. the smallest size davids carries is a two so anything we pick will have to still look good when altered down. We'll see.

We already bought the flower girl dress (for DFi's niece who will be 6) since I found a dress I loved and it was on sale for the end of fall. She tried it on and lloved it, she instantly said she looked like Belle. So perfect. The sash keeps photographing much more of a copper color so once we see how it looks against the bm dresses in a photo I may end up making her a new sash in a darker brown. Plus I'm going to make her a little jacket for when we take photos since it will be in the morning in November and it could end up being pretty cold.

The FG dress is so cute. Don't worry too much about the sash color. A professional photography will be able to capture the true color of it.

wow! i grew up in madison park, my grandparents lived in old bridge for as long as i can remember, they just moved to jackson though. my other grandmother lives in manalapan and my dad works in south river! small world. texas is the EXACT opposite of NJ. it took me about 2 and a half years to get used to it here. the cost of living is great and the weather is much better than nj (you trade snow for super hot summers). all in all it's worked out ok, there are a few things i don't like, but for young people, texas, houston especially is a great place to start a life! we own 2 houses, mark has his own business and we can still afford to have me not work. that couldn't happen in nj, at least for us.

your dress is fantastic! i tried that one on and i loved it! i think they have little flower girl dresses that match it which is so cute!!!

Well I haven't posted in months it feels like, but I didn't want to lose the thread. I have changed my shoes, my bridesmaid dresses and I think I found my invites, but I probably won't post anything until about may. My sister is getting married this May and I have been doing most of her planning for her. She moved to Ohio and is still having her wedding in NJ so I have been doing a lot with my mom. My wedding is on the back burner until hers is over :( She hardly did anything before she moved and won't make any decisions and it hasn't been easy on anyone. Her fiance is living with my mom until after the wedding so at least hes here to help. I have her shower next month and then the wedding is soon and then I can go back to worrying about my stuff, lol. I have most of the important things already decided so I don't mind waiting.

I'm hoping my mom will e-mail me the pics of me in my dress today (finally!) and maybe I'll post them tonight.

Otherwise I'll be back in here in may/june :goodvibes

Your story is lovely and your gown is exquisite! Can't wait to see pix of you in it. You are really sweet to help your sister so much with her planning. Don't worry -- your time will come to truly enjoy the planning process for your special day! In the meantime, we will LOVE to hear how everythign is going for you and your DF!

Wow, you are going to be one busy girl this year! But it is so sweet that you are going to help your sister like that.

Good luck and keep us posted with your updates.

David's should have ordered you a new dress!!!!!!! They totally can order a new one, I would have thrown a temper tantrum!! I'm sorry they made you take the sample one

Aww you are a busy chick!!!At least it's fun stuff your doing! 2 weddings in a year:)

You are going to change your mind so many times on BM dresses,I did like 5 times lol.

and heres our first shot at the centerpiece, its pretty much going to look like this but without the sticks in the middle. All my flowers are fake, and the side tiny squares are a white lily with small rocks in water (I'll probably make them with the fake flower water in the end)

Thats just a teaser, no more for a while :)

This week I have a big cake order but next week I'm back on sister duty making her wedding invites. One good thing about helping her so much is she let me get a different dress than what she picked out. Its very similar to her other 2 bms, but now I get to stand out as the moh. Man, I am so fancy!

As for my bridesmaid dresses I think my sister will be getting the one I posted above, but my sil got another dress in the same color which fit her much better. I don't have any pics of that either....I'm not doing a good job of taking pics of things, I need to work on that.
