Does anyone else have a sore throat that just won't quit? I had a sore throat for about two weeks; took antibiotics for five days and my throat still keeps feeling sore:sad2:

Sorry you feel so bad! You may need another round of antibiotics. It's worth giving your doc a call about. It may be strep, which can take an awful lot of medicine to get over!

I had a sore throat with no other symptoms for about 3 weeks straight. It wasn't so bad I couldn't eat or drink, just annoyingly sore. I used Tylenol Sore Throat Liquid. It tastes horrible but works better than throat drops or sprays for me.

Could you be having some sinus problems? Somtimes it drains down you throat at night & is harder than heck to feel better. Sometimes Rock Candy helps my throat beter than anything.

When I had a sore throat that wouldn't go away, it took me awhile to realize that I was having reflux of stomach acid into my throat that was keeping my throat sore. (A great big DUH on my part, because I knew I had intermittent reflux, just didn't realize how it was manifesting itself!). I started on Mylanta and Prilosec, and the sore throat went away. Hope you feel better soon!

Gargle with salt water. Seriously. Prior to this time, I had gone to the doctor's and he told me to put I believe a teaspoon of salt in 8oz of hot water (hot where it wont burn you when you gargle). I don't remember if he said to gargle every 1/2 hour or every hour. But it did do the trick.

My allergies/sinuses have been flaring up due to the wam temps we've had. I'm on my allergy medication, but I got to remember to gargle with salt water. The back of my throat has been getting a bit dry and irritated.

you have 27 days to get better!! Get back to the Doc!!!

thanks for all the advice! :flower3: :flower3:

This was my case too! Took me forever to figure it out! I had to go to Nexium to deal with it.

OP, I hope you are soon on the mend!!!

Yep...on the reflux here too. Also it makes my ears itchy and gives me a headache.

You see I would always say it was from my sinuses draining and it was because I have bad allergies.....
however just recently I discovered that alot of the drainage is a natural response for your body to PROTECT your throat from the acid.

That was a BIG duh for me. I take my Prevacid before bed now.:thumbsup2
