Strollers and flying

We are flying in April and are bringing our Graco stroller from home. Does anyone know if we can gate check this? It is much bigger than an umbrella stroller, but we don't want to have to carry DS through the airports.

We flew with NorthWest and a Sit-n-Stand Stroller and yes...they gate checked it for us. It was ready and waiting right outside the door of the airplane when we got off. We had 4 kiddos under the age of 7 and definately needed to contain the younger 2 while going through the airport. We are going again in January and I think we will still be bringing a stroller...maybe just an umbrella style this time.

We have a Graco too and had no trouble at all gate checking it.

Definitely...we were able to gate check our double jogger which is a pretty bulky and difficult stroller. It should be absolutely no problem!

Thanks for everyones responses! Did any of you have to pay to gate check it now that all the airlines are charging for bags? We will have to pay go check our car seat and I really don't want the added expense on the stroller as well.

From what I have heard baby gear that gets gate checked is not charged. I was curious to find out if we check my son's booster with our luggage if we'll have to pay for it though? If so, I guess it's worth lugging it through the airport and gate checking it....

Most, if not all, airlines DO NOT charge for checking car seats. I put two Cosco convertible boosters in a large duffle 3 weeks ago, when I was flying on American and was not charged.

We also have a Duo Quattro (Graco). Just remember to take off the cupholders and stash them in your carry-on or suitcase before gate-checking. Those little buggers pop right off in the cargo hold and are over $8 each to replace. Happened to us last October when flying to WDW.
