Has anyone heard of strollers being stolen at WDW? We are travelling in 2009 & worry about someone stealing our stroller while we are on a ride. Does anyone ever lock them up? Has anyone ever seen this? I know I sound paranoid but we have a very nice stroller & we worry.

I've never heard of it, but I'm sure it's happened before. We go a lot and have never locked our strollers up. I think the worst that could happen was someone take yours by mistake, so I'd put some kind of idenitifer on it. Whever we go I always see at least a few strollers that are identical to ours.

You can't lock them up because the CMs sometimes move or rearrange them outside the rides in order to make space for more. We took a Bugaboo with us once and my solution to worrying about it being stolen was to pop a front wheel off and toss it in my backpack whenever we had to leave it. I was sure that no one would steal a stroller missing a wheel and if they did, they'd be pretty conspicuous.

I'm sure it happens but we have been there twice with an expensive stoller & never worried about it

Over Halloween I read a post of a family that had the stroller taken. The girls costumes for the Halloween party were in the stroller too. They checked to see if it was moved or abadoned, to no avail. It did not turn up in lost and found either. I do not know what model it was.

We experianced ours being moved quit some distance away. It was left at Small world and ended up somwhere on the far left around the outside the parking area.

I never took anything I would miss. I had a yard sale type stroller and left our expensive one at home. But, many people buy nice and great ones for the trip reason. Maybe if you can leave a wet diaper on it when you go in an attraction, use a plastic tie stap around a wheel you can use nail clippers to cut off it would be a deterrant. But the CM s can tip on two wheels to move if they have to.

If it is too much work for anyone to bother with they likely will walk away.
But take all camera and valuables with you when you leave the stroller.

Thanks! We have a Bugaboo & love using it for travelling as it is easy to push, maneouver, and we have an awesome UV shade for it which makes it great for napping. The only other stroller we have for her is a bike trailer called a Chariot & they too are quite pricey. Even more than our Bugaboo.
I like the idea of popping the front wheel off and leaving a dirty diaper on the seat :lmao:
I could never imagine what kind of person would steal a stroller from a child but hey are out there I'm sure. Can you imagine the karma that would come back on someone that not only stole but stole from a child and not only stole from a child but stole from a child at WDW?!?!?

I happened to me on August 15th in front of the Living Seas in Epcot.:sad2:
I left my stroller out in the stroller parking and went in for the Nemo ride and Turtle Talk With Crush. We came out and it was gone. It was a Maclaren Stroller. It had some things in it, so my advice to anyone is if you have things in your stroller you would be heartbroken without take it with you on rides and in shows. We lost about $50 in souvenirs and had to buy another stroller while we were there. I will say Guest Services was not very helpful to us. They did replace our ponchos for free because they were in the stroller and it was raining that day. But in hindsight now it was only a stroller and it was replaceable. I just can't understand people sometimes...

I had same fear before our last trip. You're not being paranoid. I hemmed and hawed over which strollers to take since I have a really nice jogger that I thought would be great for Disney. But I ended up taking my older graco since it had the best comfort options for my then 1 yr old and my chicco caddy for my 5yr old. I realized I'd be too worried about the jogger anyhow and actually secretly hoped someone would steal my graco so I had an excuse to buy a new one! (I know I sound demented) But to no avail nobody took it. (Darn honest people). Anyhow, I'd take whatever stroller will work best for you and try not to worry. Unfortunately some people have had theirs taken which is just so rotten, but it's definitely not the norm.

PS- Like others have posted, our strollers got moved like no one's business so forget about locking it up. :upsidedow

We have a Graco Quattro and Combi Twin Savvy which we are not taking. While the Combi is lighter to carry, we would rather take something cheap so we don't care if it is stolen and can replace it easily. We're buying bright colored $20 singles and a connector for times when one parent has to push both kids.

Gosh, I'm sorry that happened to you! That would have made me so , I hope it didn't spoil your trip too much.

This brings up another good point. If you're staying on site, you can have souvies sent to your resort. You won't be able to pick them up until the next day IIRC, so if you're leaving that day, this won't work. But just something to keep in mind. You can also have them sent to the front of the park to pick up on your way out, and there are lockers that cost about $5-7 + refundable deposit.

Just thought I'd mention it as a few options.

I have always taken an expensive stroller ($200-300 range) and had no issues with it what so ever in atleast 30+ trips. I am sure it happens, but I am sure it is seldom and I think it is more a case of mistaken identity then someone actually out to steal a stroller.

I bring our lime green stroller so bright lime green that no one will take it by mistake and if they were to take our stroller they would spotted quickly!!!

In one of the Disney books they recommend taking a diaper or two and pouring a little cola on it (for effect) and putting it in a plastic clear bag and tie to your stroller handle. :lmao:

We have done both WDW strollers and our own (Graco - I wish it had been stolen!) and have never had a problem. I have had to search for over 1/2 an hour in the dark in Fantasyland to find it several times but always found it. Though I do agree we never leave anything that can not be easily replaced in the stroller.
