Has anyone here used off-site stroller rental places? I'd love to hear who you used and your experience with it.

My son will be 5 during our next visit. He has developmental delays/autism and because of that he has low muscle tone so we worry he could struggle with 5 days in the parks (including walking to and from the hotel.) Plus, for safety reasons I would like a stroller for any heavy crowds and walking down Harbor. (And no, I don't want any debate on kids being "too old" for strollers.)

Last time, we brought our own stroller but it's a smaller one that I know he'll just be too big for. So I am looking for a rental company that could deliver one to our hotel to use for the week. And basically it would need to be a stroller he could fit in. Maybe that doesn't exist? I don't know. Our trip is still 10 months away so I can't be sure on his size at the time. But he's definitely not huge for his age. He's in the 40th-50th percentile for height/weight for his age (right now he's almost 37 pounds and around 41 inches tall.)

Any suggestions on this subject would be much appreciated. I know I have tons of time to figure this out but would love some information now to bookmark for later use. Thanks!

We used City Strollers & they were great! We got a double for my then 2 & 5 year olds and it was awesome! If you check out their site they show the different kinds they rent & the height/weight specifications for use for each one. :) They delivered it as well as picked it up after we were done & we also got a rain cover which came in handy for our trip a year ago last February.

Was the stroller in nice shape/clean?

I am always paranoid about someone stealing a stroller while it's outside a ride. I worry that if that happens with a rental, I'm suddenly stuck paying them hundreds for a replacement or something.

I haven't rented, but if you're looking for a reasonably-priced lightweight stroller to bring along, consider the Kolcraft Cloud Sport or Cloud Plus (we have one of each and both are similar). Holds a kid up to 50 lbs (we use it for our 41", 42-lb daughter) and is probably cheaper than renting one.

That actually looks just like the stroller we used in 2015. https://www.amazon.com/Babies-Us-1933087-Trendsport-Stroller/dp/B00CXVK9YQ He is way too tall for it now.

I think it's even small than what we have now which is a Graco Breaze.

This was him in it in June. The weight limit is 50 but I feel he'll be too tall come December.

Those are different brand strollers than what I suggested so...:confused3 , but definitely rent if that is what you want to do. I just wanted to let you know what we use for my daughter (who is the same height, but heavier than the height/weight you gave for your son). I'm sorry I tried to help.

My son will likely be a couple inches taller in December. And he has a long torso which I think makes it sort of tricky for head height. And then I cannot get him to use a foot rest on the stroller which stinks. He just doesn't understand the concept, I guess. Just one of the many joys of special needs...ha!

Looks like City Strollers offers a stroller aimed at kids with special needs that has a high weight limit: https://citystrollerrentals.checkfront.site/categories/special-needs

We have only rented the double strollers, so can't comment on that stroller specifically. I can say that I always get the insurance "just in case" but have rented 3 times from them and haven't had anything happen to the stroller.
