Stroller Rental Question...

I know it's probably been asked about a billion times....but, I'm a stroller rental rookie....so, please bear with me.

The last 2 years, we have brought our own stroller...but, we are thinking about renting this year.

Are the rental places inside the admission gates? Can you usually rent a stroller before the park opens if you arrive early?

I would hate to get to the park early just to wait in a 20 minute line to rent a stroller while everyone else is off riding.

Thanks....

The stroller rentals are INSIDE the gate but they go very fast.

Also, if you want to do length of stay, I noticed a CM standing OUTSIDE the gate for this to speed things up. She stands right in front of a sign that says "Length of Stay" stroller rentals. Right before you go into the security line...at MK anyway.

I don't believe the length of stay rental option is available anymore.

I didn't hear about this. Last I heard it was still available (as of March 2006 anyway). :confused3

Length of stay rentals were available in Jan 2006. Two good reasons to do this: you save a little bit of money and after your first rental, you don't need to wait in line. Just go to where the strollers are being distributed, give them one of your little receipts and you get your stroller.

I appreciate the help. All this knowledge of Disney that I have from these boards and I didn't even know there was a length of stay rental on a stroller.

I'm still learning things.....

We will be getting to the parks in the afternoon...around 4 or 5pm on our first day....so, I should be able to just rent a length of stay on that day and be ready for the next 7 mornings after that....

Thanks again....

I thought I would take my own stroller but ended up just renting. We were impressed with their strollers and had a CM give us a double for the price of a single at MGM! My only complaint was not waiting in line- it was the amount of walking to get from the bus stop to the stroler rental. My DD4 was very tired both in the morning and end of day and wanted to be carried to the bus. It would have been nice to have our own stroller to push her in. Just my opinion. I am taking one for our 3 day "quick" trip in June to save myself from carrying her (my DH is not going!) or I would make him carry her.

I got the free stroller when we where at the MNSSHP in October.. we really liked their stroller better! It moves so much easier than our stroller and my diaper bag.. which I only use a camera bag... (I think thiefs would think it was a diaper bag and not go for it as fast as a real camera bag) fits right over the handle of the stroller perfectly! I loved it! What is the real going rate? Anyone been recently?

This will be our 3rd annual trip since 2004. My DS was 4 at the time. We brought an umbrella stroller which we used in 2004 and 2005. He is now too big for the stroller, so we discussed either buying a new stroller for about $50 or renting a stroller for around $50 while at Disney.

It was nice to have the stroller all the way back to the bus. It wasn't so nice to have to fold it up and try to hold the stroller while holding a sleeping child and all the "stuff" that goes with the stroller.

I couldn't think of any other time that we have used a stroller for our now DS6 in the past 2 years except for Disney.....so, we decided to give the rentals a try this time. The rentals seem to be bigger and give him more space to move around. The rentals also seem to be taller so I don't have to "hunch down" to push the stroller.

My only concern was being stuck in line to rent a stroller while everyone else was flooding into the park and heading to Dumbo before I could get there :)

If I rent a double stroller for length of stay, would they give me two single strollers if they were all out of doubles? If yes, would this also hold true for AK where, I believe, they only have singles?

Also, if you receive your stroller for the day, is it true that you can simply leave it outside an attraction and then pick up another one at a different location in the park. For instance, if your child wants to walk a bit and you don't want to drag the stroller around.

One last one. If we have an 8:00 AM ADR in the park, will we be able to receive our stroller as we enter for our breakfast or will we have to return for it after?

Thanks in advance. I didn't think stroller rental would be that complicated!

that's a great question. We have an ADR for Cindy at 8:50am. It would be great if we could get our stoller beforehand and have it ready.

The bad thing about the ADR at 8:50am is that we are not going to be able to get 'going' in MK till after breakfast....close to 10:00am. :-(

Does anyone happen have a phone number that I could call to possibly get the answer myself?

Not positive but I don't think you can leave a stroller at an attraction and get another one at a different location. The only place I know of to pick up strollers is at the park entrances. I have never seen strollers distributed anywhere else. You can leave a stroller parked someplace and go back for it later if you don't want to take it with you but I don't think you can abandon your stroller and just get a different one elsewhere. Does anyone know for sure? :confused3

I've never rented a stroller but I believe that at AK at one of the rides, you leave your stroller and get a new one at the other end. I'm not 100% sure but I believe this is the case. I've read about it here or maybe I heard the CMs saying something. Hopefully, someone who's rented a stroller and done the AK ride I'm thinking of can chime in.

It might be the same at MK at the train. I always see so many strollers there that look unused, like they are there waiting for people to take them. Of course, again, I'm not sure on this one either.

Other then those 2 possible examples, you get the strollers at the entrance and you keep it for the whole day.

WOW, that's news to me. SIL is a castmember, I will have to see if she knows. Interesting :confused3

Like I said I could be wrong. Now this is going to drive me crazy. I actually wasn't disagreeing with you. I just thought it was the case on one ride at AK due to logistics.

Let me know if you find anything out and I'll do the same.

I'm not sure about the strollers at AK but I can confirm switching strollers at MK, at the train stops at Toontown and Frontierland. You just park it at the train station you are leaving, grab all your belongings (and your name tag ) and hop on the train. When you get to your destination, just ask a castmember to point you in the direction of the strollers, pick one, slide your name tag in the slot and off you go! We just learned about this last year, and took advantage of it several times throughout our trip. It sure saves alot of walking if you want to get from one side of the park to the other. If you can, I would take advantage of this option, it worked well for us!

Well, I've been searching and so far at virtualtourist.com, under the description of the MK Railroad it says this:

Strollers are not allowed on the train, so make sure to take all of your belongings, as well as your stroller name card and rental receipt, and you can get a replacement at your destination station.

Still looking to see what ride I thought this about at AK...maybe the Wildlife Express Train.

Not doubting you either....

That's VERY cool! I didn't realize they did that. I guess I was thinking more in terms of riding Peter Pan, leaving the stroller and then getting a another one at say, Space Mountain for example. It makes total sense that they'd do that when riding the train. I haven't ridden that train in years, and when I did, I always brought my own stroller on the train with me. What fun THAT was. :rotfl:
