STROLLER: Orlando or Disney, which is better for tall kids??

I've read all the stroller posts on weight limits, pros and cons, etc... but I cannot seem to find one that explains which is better for a TALLER child:

Orlando rentals (double jogger) OR Disney's double?

Both kids who MAY use it occasionally are very, very tall and thin (68 lbs, and 40 lbs.). They may not spend a LOT of time in there, but one has low muscle tone (fatigues easily) and both have fragile sensory systems. The stroller is a good, safe place to hide.

No need to reply if you don't believe in strollers...

A) I've heard those arguments ;) and
B) there will be PLENTY of exercise and walking for everyone :yay:

Thank You!!

I have a "tall" child and don't find the Disney strollers a good fit.

We have a stroller swap and our kids were 48" with no problems. If you are interested in saving money look at the stroller swap link in my siggie. ;)

Thanks for the info! The dates I will be there the stroller is taken already, but this is a GREAT idea and I will not forget about it for the next trip! Thanks! :goodvibes

They probably won't be comfortable in the Disney strollers, esp. as they're hard plastic and the canopy is flat (as opposed to rounded) and doesn't leave a lot of headroom.

My oldest is 46" tall and fits in the Baby Jogger City Mini with an inch or so to spare before his head is brushing the canopy. Even after he grows a few more inches I still think he'd be comfortable.

Here are some really good specs on the BJ City Mini which is the one that Orlando Stroller Rentals offers - scroll down to "Let's Go Strolling Stroller Specs" - the butt to canopy height is the one that I personally feel is the most important and will give you an idea if he'd be squished in the stroller. Measure him when he's sitting and if he's more than 3 or 4 inches over this number, he may not be comfortable.

Thanks for the post, it reminded me to clarify:

Tall (to us) = 52 inches, and 44 inches

My "tall" is 48 inches and is not happy in the Disney stroller.

Disney recently replaced the blue strollers in MK and EP with narrow hard bottom, beige strollers.

this is a pic of my 8yr old who was just at 48 inches when I took this pic. I flipped the canopy back so that you can see how high the actual back of the seat is.

if you aren't opposed to having two strollers the baby jogger city classic that orlando has may be a better option for you and you can get the single city mini for the smaller child. both function exactly the same the classic has a 75 pound weight limit and is air tires.

You all are AWESOME! :goodvibes

Thank you for the specs page, the photo, and the two stroller suggestion. I feel much more prepared to make this decision! :woohoo:

Thank you!

I would definitely go with the ones from Orlando Stroller. The Disney ones are hard and painfully small now. We used the Orlando ones for our last trip for my kids which are between 42 and probably 48"

Re-reading this I would doubly recommend skipping Disney's strollers as they can be a sensory overload nightmare - they're rumbly, hard and don't offer much privacy. They also have a very low back so there's no place for the kids to rest their heads.

The Baby Jogger strollers have an AWESOME pull down canopy (with side vents and a top window, all of which can be covered) which provides quite the private little cave. (No, I don't work for Baby Jogger... :lmao: I just have kids that like to "get away", too! ;) )

We have our own BJ City Elite which we bring with us for our 4 yr old (46") - here he is getting ready to pull the top down and "hide" :thumbsup2

I don't think so - if it was any lower it would bump his knees. I think they make it high on purpose so as the kids get bigger and their legs get longer they have enough room to bend their legs while keeping their feet on the footrest and not bang their knees on the underside of the tray... does that make sense?

We just bought the tray although I never planned on buying one. It just always looked to sit so high and my DD is still tiny even at 2 1/2. But there is a local baby store that is going out of business and had all strollers/stroller stuff 40% off so the tray was only $11. I had been wanting the belly bar if I were to get anything but hate to spend the $$ for that and this store didn't have it. But doesn't the belly bar sit just as high? I figure the tray was cheap enough and still gives her something to grab onto if she wants. But she didn't mind not having anything on our last WDW trip.

I wish I knew if the store would ship because they had at least 5-6 single BJ Mini's there on sale for about $137 last week. I was going to post it on Swap but not sure if they would want to ship or not. Finally saw the blue in person and was really pretty. We have the orange though. LOL

yeah there have been alot of ladies emailing me on swap w/ questions about my bjcm. I contacted bj not to long ago about ordering a new set of skins and they are not that expensive at all the stone color which is the one I want is more expensive b/c its new but its under 70 I just can't remember if that included shipping and the other colors were under 50. Not bad for a new look on you stroller I need one for when the green needs to be cleaned.

this is lily w/ the tray on I don't think its so much that it sits so high up it kind of has that upward slant I think that is what kind of makes it awkward slant.

this is one of her w/ the shade pulled down.
(helps if I add the photo)

Aha - I think I see why the tray seems so high on yours compared to ours. It is high, but the distance to the footrest is shorter on ours (or so it looks) so there's less space for their legs as the knees come up higher. This is my 46" 4 year old and with his feet on the footrest, he's got less than 2" before his knees hit the tray (the blanket is kind of hiding it). If the tray was any lower it would be a problem. I'm guessing the tray is designed so that it accommodates all versions of the Baby Jogger strollers. :thumbsup2
