This will be our 4th trip to Disney. The last trip was in dec.2002 my ds was 5 we rented the stroller now he is 7 and I am wondering if i should rent a stroller. What have or would you do. Thanks for the help

I would still get a stroller...a double one at that. Comes in handy when the little guy gets tired, or if you pick up parcels along the way. My 8 year old even bumped his 5 and 3 year old siblings out for a break once in awhile.

Will your 7 yr old ride in the stroller? I know my 7 yr old wouldn't have gotten in one no matter how tired he was. But that's just him

I would rent one if and when he needs it. Most likely later in the day or eveing when he starts to tire. By the time DS was 8 he refused to ride in the stroller even though he was exasuted one night at epcot.

We will be renting a double for my DD7 and DS5 this summer. This way, they can ride when they want to (or need to). Plus, then I will not have to carry the backpack ;)

DSs are 7 and 4 and the only time we rent a stroller is when we do Epcot. Once in a while we'll do a stroller for AK, but mainly for Epcot especially when we're doing WS.

Less whining when we have the stroller. ;)

I am all for getting a stroller if they wnat/need one. but in my case, my "challanged" 7 year old, all 3 times (first time 4 years old) walked everything for 8 days straight in the park, I even asked him everyday )a few times) if he wanted one but NOPE! :confused3

We were in the parks for 6 days and probably should have rented a stroller for our 6 & 8 yr olds. Heck, I could've used one myself lol :cool1: My sons feet really started bothering him. He insisted on wearing flip flops for a couple of days instead of his tennis shoes and ended up getting cracks on his heels. They asked for a stroller, but it was the last hour in the park. Next time we will get one, just so they can take breaks when needed.

Just got back and I rented one for my 6 year old. Definitely get one and a double one at that!!! I saw kids much older than 7 riding is single ones and they looked squished...

If your older kiddo gets tired, could you take a break and hit the hotel pool instead of renting a stroller? Then come back later on when everyone is refreshed.

If all the big kids are using the double strollers, will there be enough for the families with two smaller kids?

My DS8 was pretty much out of the stroller by the time he was 6. Although I did ask him during our last trip if he wanted us to rent one. He looked me square in the eye and said "Mommy, I am not a baby!" That settled that issue. He was a trooper about it. Never complained once and he slept like a rock thru the night.

We go in October so taking a pool break and then returning afterwards leaves very little time before the park closes. Gosh we don't even get to the parks unil noon! There have always been more then enough double strollers sitting around for me to be worried that I might be taking one away from someone else. I figre if Disney feels there is a problem with this then they will make it a rule that you must have two kids to rent a double. Until then I will continue to rent one for the kid, the backpack, and all the goodies we buy.

Our oldest used a stroller till he was 8. It's more of a problem of the weight of your child. At AK, Epcot, and MK, the strollers have smaller front wheels, so we always had to tell him to sit back in the stroller.

At MGM, the double strollers are two separate compartments, so our oldest can't fit in those (not even singles). But I wish all the parks used the same style as MGM. It's easy to maneuver around and you can pick up some great speed. :earboy2:

Pushing a 7 yr old around WDW would wear me out so fast! Nothing like a tired out parent and a raring to go kid at the end of the day... :rotfl:

My kids have all been walking Disney by the time they were 5ish. A healthy 7 year old shouldn't have any more of a problem getting around than you will. I would hold off, and get one if there is a problem.

We LOVE going without the stroller!!!!!!

Our family is like meandtheguys2, our kids all stopped with the stroller around 5 ish. We haven't been in the heat of the summer so that might make a difference.

I do think that it has a lot to do with your child, and the a little to do with when you are there.

DS's first trip was when he was 5. We did not bring a stroller, and I planned to rent one if he needed one. Those little legs of his walked the legs off the 4 adults in our party!!!! 10 days in the parks, and I think he got piggy-back, or shoulder rides 2x total.

The next year, he did not want, ask for or need one either.

We were however there in January, when it was cooler, and the crowds were lighter.

Our next trip will be when he's 8, and he will FLAT OUT REFUSE to even look at a stroller then......

No offense, but I think 7 is WAY too old for a stroller.

I think it depends on the kid. My DD used a stroller at age 5. She is now 6 and if she feels she needs a stroller when we go in October then she will get one. I LOVE having a stroller just to carry my backpack! We aren't even at the parks that long but if it is hot she likes to be in a stroller. I've seen kids way older in strollers and it doesn't bother me a bit. I mean, who cares? It's none of MY business and I'm certainly not going to pass judgment on anyone.
