When we go to Disney in May, my daughter will be almost 5. I know that she will be exhausted after walking all day, but I think she might feel silly being in a stroller. Have you ever put a child that age in a stoller at Disney?

We were there in Dec and my son was 4 at the time and he was in the stroller ALOT! He will be almost 5 in May when we go and I will definately be taking a stroller for him, there is entirely too much walking for their little legs. Believe me she will be glad you have the stroller for her midway through the day. It is nothing to see some 6 yr old in strollers in WDW. Believe me when I say you will not be a standout in any way, you will be surprised at what you see people doing......

We will be using his stroller on our trip in April. I should probably let you know he is 4 1/2 but is the size of a 6 year old. I get tired about a day at the parks I can't imagine how the kids would be if they had to walk the whole time.

I plan of renting a stroller for Epcot and Animal Kingdom for my 5.5DS. I think those parks are so large that he would definitely need a stroller. I think he would be okay @ Magic Kingdom and MGM...if not he'll get a stroller. :goodvibes

The first time we went with our 4 kids, they were ages 3, 5, 6, and 7. We rented 2 double strollers and it was worth every penny! No one ever question why a 7 year old was in a stroller, and she didn't mind one bit being pushed around. We also knew where our kids were while walking around the parks. When we went the next year, we dediced on 1 double stroller for the younger two. Well, the older two were bargaining with the younger two about whose turn it was in the stroller!

Have you asked your daughter if she wants to ride in the stroller? She just may say yes.

We just got back on 3/7, there were kids in strollers up to the ages of maybe 8-9! I was shocked, but it seemed to be the theme the whole time that we were there. My ds is 23 mos., and I bought our stroller along-best thing we did! You will not stick out at all-you will actually be the norm! Enjoy

For our trip in May my son will be 4 & 10mos and we will get a stroller, but only for Epcot & AK. My son who is eight will usually want us to get the double stroller for him too. A little crowded in the double stroller, but they manage. If they're happy I'm happy :teeth:

I'd bring a stroller unless you're planning on doing short trips to each park. Keep in mind that stroller rentals have gone up ($18/ double and $10/single). It might make more sense to bring a light-weight umbrella stroller.

The last time we went my son was 5 and we didn't get a stroller. It was so great not to have to deal with it all day- so freeing! He did fine, he has more energy than the adults.

When we went 2 years ago, my kids were 3 & 7 and we usually started out each morning without a stroller, and then rented one mid-afternoon for the rest of the day and night. I rented a double a couple of times and had them both in it, no complaints.
Now in our every day world, my DD wouldn't be caught dead in a stoller, but she never blinked at Disney.

I brought my DS (4 1/2) last Aug on a whilrwind 3 night trip. I was very happy to have my stroller from home as he fell asleep every night on the bus.

I'm taking my DD for her 7th birthday in May and I've told her she's too old for a stroller. I don't want to have to deal with it on the plane or bus. I think she'll do OK at MK & MGM but I will likely rent a stroller at Epcot & AK. I think MK would be so much easier without a stroller. I just hope she doesn't fall asleep on the bus at night.

My son will be 5 when we go to Disney next month. I definately plan on taking a stroller. I know if I don't he will get tired and want us to carry him.....

You won't be sorry you have one -- if your child doesn't want to ride in it, your backpack, purchases, ponchos, etc. can! Honestly, it's easier to bring "stuff" in the parks when the kids are using strollers.

I also say go for it!!!! We were there in July and my 6 1/2 year old was alright for a couple of hours in the morning on our first day in the parks. Before lunch she became really crabby and we knew she was tired, so we rented a stroller and she was a whole new person. It helped me out too--I didn't have to worry about where she was and I put my backpack on the stroller as well. If you rent pay for all the days you will need up front --it saves you about 20% if I remember correctly.

We went in December and my son was 6. I found it hard to find a stroller for him, but I finally got one at Target that he could fit into (Saftey 1st Avila - $40). He loved it and it is was expecially nice for when he fell asleep on the bus back to the hotel and you just put them in the stroller instead of carrying them to the hotel room (can't use a rental one for that!). This one had a tray in front that we normally didn't use unless we stopped for a hot dog or something, then he had a place to put his lunch! Great to put bags or backpacks when you go on a ride - just be careful to put them underneath or tie them to the stroller. I wouldn't hesitate to take one if I were you.

my dd just turned 4 in jan and altho she is very active and has tons of energy i still went out and bought the maclaren stroller that cost me an arm and a leg,,LOL,,$120!!!! with tax!! i got the triumph great deal and it will hold up to 55lb!! it reclines as well,,my dd doesn't mind going in strollers tho and since her younger cousins will be in strollers,,well,,you know monkey see monkey do,,lol

i figure my dd is BIG 43 inches tall and 42 lbs at 4yo!! i like to walk in the spring,

anyways,,i looked at it like,,spend 40-50 in rentals or spend another 50 and keep it,,i chose to keep it!!

dawn

By the way, the $40 Saftety First Avila stroller I mentioned earlier fit my 6 year old son very nicely and he not a small 6 year-old - he's about 49 inches and at least 65 lbs and it held up very nicely - no problems.

Our great neice was 5 when we brought her and she did not want a stroller at all and managed just beautifully. I think it depends on the child. I've noticed a lot of parents on this board finds it easier to use a stroller.

Depends totally on the kid. My oldest DD hasn't used a stroller at WDW since she was 3! and never had any problems, but we'll still be taking one for our just turned 5 year old this April.

I have a tall almost 5 yr old. The only stroller I have that he can ride in and be safe is a Kelty. Is the Kelty too 'much' to have in the parks? I would prefer to have my owen bc I think I would prefer to be able to push him all the way back to GF vs turning in a stroller and having to carry him (or have the I am so tired an you are XYZ meltdown).

Also are those rental stroller comfortable? Hot? Sticky?
thanks
