We were at Disney back in May and my six year old son used a rental stroller everyday of the trip. It worked great for him. He still likes riding in one. The only problem was how expensive it got! After being there for several days, I figured that I could have just bought one and took it home with me. Here's my question; does anyone know where I can get a decent stroller at a decent price that will be big enough to hold my six year old when we go back in the fall. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

How much does he weigh, is he a small six yr old. We got a $12.99 Walmart w/basket and our DD was about 45 lb and it worked out good.

I have a regular Graco type basic stroller..with a basket(love this perk)....I think it was in the $60 range....My DD will be 61/2 and we use it everytime we go to WDW....It lets our day move faster and less meltdowns.....

I had a 10$ stroller from walmart...it was for my 2 yr old...but my 7 yr old wanted to use it whenever possible!! She's about 50 lbs...worked fine for her...just a little harder to push than a 30 lb child..lol

We use a graco one with our 3 year old, he's 37 pounds. We'll be there again nin November, if anyone wants to start another stroller swap, please let me know.

FunnyHunny, I will be there in november also!! We will be at the Poly from 8th to the 16th. When will you be there?
My son weighs around 50 pds. He still loves riding in a stroller, and he is easier to manage that way because he has adhd. I think the 10.00 kind from Walmart are too small because I have one I use for my 3 year old and he almost breaks the wheels riding in it. I will need something sturdy, but probably not over 50.00 dollars.
Thanks so much for the suggestions, at least I know I won't be the only one with a big kid in a stroller!

We arrive the evening of the 21st of Nov. and depart on the 28th of Nov. We are off site in a private home, but very close. I agree that the walmart type of umbrella stroller isn't quite a fit for the older ones if they are active.

Momo3....we used our umbrella stroller last March because we were just visiting for a few days after the cruise...it was murder..didn't turn as well, and no storage on my model...I love my graco...DD weighs about 45lbs and no problems with it...

hey z-wife, where can I get one of those graco's you are talking about, and what is the exact name of it so I know what I'm looking for. Thanks again!

I went to disney in Dec and took a stroller for my 13 month old, but my 5 year old ended up stealing it from him and I would up wearing my 13 month old in a hip carrier most of the time!! The stroller I took was a kidco elan. They are now discontinued but ther is a new one on ebay. Here is the link:

I like this stroller, it has nice tall handles (that telescope up even higher) and I could hang my 15lb backpack off the handles and it would not tip even when the stroller was empty. It also folds like an umbrella which is nice and compact for disney transportation.

Also, I have heard that there are some nice babytrend strollers that are only available at Babiesrus (in the actual store--not online) that are about $60 that fold like an umbrella and are easy to push and have a 45lb weight limit, which is higher than most strollers. I think that they called the eurotrend sport.

Sorry the link didn't work, but you can go on ebay and search for "kidco stroller" and it will pull it up if you want to check it out.

I found them. Thanks for the advice! I will be watching them and seein how high the bids will go!

I just bought an InStep stroller for my 5 1/2 year old off of the JC Penney website. I had the same issues you do, he was too big for the regular umbrella strollers from WalMart. This one is a little larger and holds more weight than the regular umbrella strollers, but still folds like one, but also has a basket underneath for storage, which most umbrellas don't have. I actually bought the double one, as I also have a 2 yr old son, who needs a stroller too. It works great and steers very easily, despite the large amount of weight in the stroller. They are designed to hold more weight than most umbrella's. You may want to check it out. I am very happy with mine.

Tiffanie-that is interesting that you were pleased with the Instep. I'm not sure if it is the same as the one that I purchased (& returned) recently-the SUV, we hated it-and we had bought both the single & double version (I run a daycare). Perhaps they changed it since I bought it, but we really disliked the design. In fact I posted about it over on the Families board since alot of us were looking for a good single or double stroller:

To the OP-i highly recommend a visit to the parentsplace.com message boards-they have an awesome stroller board there and can offer loads of advice. And the Disney for Families board here has some good advice on the stroller subject too!

HTH! From a woman who has one child and more stroller than she can count-lol!!!
