I need something that will recline for the baby but will fit the big kid? Any ideas?
I'm thinking I'll just have to get the Sit N Stand and snap in the infant seat, even though I really didn't want to do that...or is having 2 single strollers (umbrella for big kid and infant stroller for the baby) too bad?

We're in a similar situation...DD is 5 and the baby is almost 1. We definitely want a recline for the baby (can't really recline with the Sit n Stand) and I think having nice shade covers is important, too. We also decided that if older DD was going to ride, it would be better to have a "real" seat for her, rather than a jumpseat.

Anyway, we have a Baby Jogger City Mini at home and love it, so we're renting a BJ double from Magic Strollers. The seat has shoulder harnesses, so I think the baby would be fine in the seat, and the weight limit is 100 lbs total, so it can hold a big kid, too.

We went back and forth on what do to, so we'll see how it goes in 2 weeks!

I always have a real seat for our 4.5 year old. Real seats for both, I like big hoods too. The Sit N Stands don't fold up any smaller than regular doubles so you may as well have 2 seats.

If it's not something you would typically use at home rent one of the BJ doubles the off property companies offers. I fyou need something thru the airport you could take a small single to help with that use the rental double once you get there.

Oh I am in love with those strollers now. The Magic Strollers price isn't that bad either.

But, before I spend $85 (or probably $110 since I'll worry about theft the whole time) will having 2 singles be all that bad? I figure we wouldn't even need the stroller at the Magic Kingdom...DD4 does Hershey Park with no stroller. But definitely needed at the larger parks.

When we went last year with our then 3-year-old and 3-month-old we took two strollers. We were traveling with grandparents though, so we had lots of extra hands to push them.

I decided on two strollers because I knew there would be times when I needed to take the baby to the Baby Care Centers etc. I wanted flexibility. I didn't want my older daughter to be tied down by the baby. I also knew the baby would need sleep and I didn't want her sister waking her! The baby was very content in her stroller, which had a full recline (I definitely did not want her spending hours in an infant carseat).

I have done two strollers too and it is great if you want to go back with the younger child for a nap while the older one stays at the park. Plus, we took two umbrellas which were super light and easy compared to a bulky sit and stand or duorider or double jogger. I would never take any of those to DisneyWorld - on the buses! I did actually buy a sit and stand last year to take to Disney and it was the same size folded as a duoglider - the thing is a monster and I quickly resold it!

Then I bought a side by side Jeep umbrella which was great- very compact (my youngest was 8 mo and my middle child 3).

If there are two adults that can push two single strollers, I think that is the way to go!!! It gives you more flexiblity in needing to divide up (if the baby needs to go to the baby center or just sit in the shade and nap, while the older one goes with the older adult to another location). It is also easier to move a single wide stroller through the crowd than a double!!
I do think it is nice for the 4.5 year old to have a stroller at MK. There is a lot of walking between rides. It is also easier to keep up with him/her in a stroller goiing through the crowd than trying to hold hands - not to mention faster! Mine also likes to have a comfortable seat to sit and wait, then watch the parades! :cheer2:

Oh, and I almost forgot - the BEST reason to have another stroller is storage space!!!! We pack snacks, drinks ($2.75 for a coke?), and water in a cooler and leave it under the stroller. We also pack a backbag of rain gear and leave it under / on the stroller. Florida has lots of rain / showers / thunderstorms. Taking a rain coat is much cheaper than buying a poncho at the park, especially when the rain is usually gone in an hour. I am sure the other stroller storage area will be full with the baby bag.

SnS aren't good for reclining... I'd skip this option...

Our SnS folds up exactly the same size as our large Graco single stroller

As other posters say, I too give a thumbs up to 2 strollers. We have a Combi umbrella, along with our larger Graco. The little one gets the Graco and our DD5 (4 when we started) gets teh Combi. give flexibility to take them to seperate areas, and also storage.

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks!!!!:cool1:

I really like the nice double a few recommended but it was more than I wanted to spend. I'm thrilled to have so many thumbs up for 2 singles. I didn't think about splitting up, and money has suddenly gotten SO tight, it'd be nice to not have to spend xtra on the new stroller. Thanks everyone!

We almost did two singles for our upcoming trip. My oldest is a very tall 3.5 year old and then I have a 5 month old. We ended up buying a Combi Twin Sport and love it. No issues with the large size gap between the boys. I'm glad we can now take turns pushing!

I have a double jogger because the weigh limits are higher than regualr doubles, also it allows both occupants to recline. Sit and stands generally make the back rider sit upright or stand

takes teh cover, folds it behind her and uses it as a back support. very creative as i'd never had thought to do that.

On our trip, we used an Instep double jogger from a stroller swap. It was great; except, we constantly had to make sure our 2 year old wasn't hurting/feeding/laying on the 3 month old. If I hadn't mainly used a carrier for the baby; we would have had an easier time with two strollers.

we just took a sit n stand and a wrap carrier for my 4 year old and 8 month old. it was pretty bulky. it works, but if i was buying something new i woudl have instead bought a good reclining high weight umbrella stroller. i just already had this.

You may want to rethink no stroller for MK for a 4 year old. It is bigger than it looks and the FL sun and wipe out a little guy.

We have 3 children and we take a Jeep all weather double stroller (larger umbrella stroller) and a single umbrella stroller.

2 stroller works good for us and 3 little ones.

I wonder if its bigger than Hershey...I mean, it seems bigger, but I just assumed it was in my head.:rotfl:

We did the same with my four and one year old. Grandparents also came, but having two strollers was nice...Macclarwns, so they were light weight. Pitied the poor parents trying to get the big doubles on the buses at night when it was crowded. I also enjoyed the freedom of being able to take one child and a stroller to a specific area and attraction too.
