Stroller division for 5K?

I finally got around to registering for the 5K in January. My parents are coming to watch my infant son during the half marathon (well, also because they said a few years ago that they weren't going back to WDW until they had a grandchild to go with... :lmao:) and they decided that they want to walk the 5K (their first). Since I registered them in July, Disney has added a stroller division to the 5K. It is $5 more than the regular entry.

Does Disney do anything to justify the extra $5 (on a $40 entry) or is it just a cash grab? I feel stupid having paid it, but I know my parents really want my DS to do the race with us... even though he'll only be 5 months old and will probably sleep through the whole thing. I know the Royal Family 5K had a stroller division - was that one more money and did Disney do anything extra?

Anyone know, or am I the only one stupid enough to pay $5 for the guaranteed pleasure of pushing a 20 lb jogging stroller?

Hey Sarah,

We did the stroller division for the princess 5k the first year. The kids got a little medalian thingy, which made the Kiddo's day, but I think your lil man might be a little too young to appreciate that :goodvibes. Other than that I think it was just a price grab :confused3

It was a nice time having the whole family take part though :thumbsup2

Thanks, Kirsty! I should just come to you with all of my problems, from now on. :rotfl:

Yeah, I don't think the little guy will be all that impressed with a medallion... he will probably be able to hold it and shake it by then, but that's about it. Oh well, I guess it will be his first race medal. We all have to start somewehere! :lmao:

Lol! yes you should I am incredibly capable of answering all your questions :rotfl2:!

The medallions are usually nice and rubbery - how old will he be by then? Might make a nice teething chew (I would sanitize it first though )!

Alright, then? Is it acceptable for me to eat a bowl of Butterfinger ice cream for dinner? :rotfl:

I can pretty much guarantee that, sanitized or not, the medallion will end up in his mouth. He'll be 5 months old in January, and he's already trying to stick everything in his mouth. Right now he's limited to his own hands, his sleeves, and my hair... but just give him time and better motor skills!

Yes, perfectly acceptable :thumbsup2

Yup, everything ends up in the mouth at his age - wait until it's other orifices - the kiddo once got playdoh stuck up her nose, and had blue snot for weeks :scared1:
