It will be me, husband, and 5 year old son (he's turning 5 tomorrow), and we will be there this week. I've heard that strollers are needed when walking around Disney parks, but is this also true for Universal parks? I'm just wondering if we could get away with not using one for them.

This will be my family's first trip to Orlando and we are going to MK, USF, and IOA. I am a complete rookie at planning a trip to the parks, and will admit I haven't been to a theme park in YEARS. I don't want to bring any unnecessary stuff but also I want us to have a good and seamless experience.

The parks aren't as large as some of the Disney Parks. He will probably be fine.

We do both Disney and Universal a lot and we still bring a stroller for our 5.5 year old (she NEVER uses one at home anymore). She rides in it most of the time - even though Universal's parks are smaller, it's still a lot of walking. Plus it makes it easier and faster to get places and provides her some shade from the sun and a place to rest if she wants. We usually bring a small cooler, change of clothes, umbrella (if it looks like rain), so it's also a great place to store stuff.

At disney yes.At Universal it wont really be neccessary.the parks are nowhere as big as Disneys, and in areas like Harry Potter, they can become a hindrance to you since it is such a tight area to try and navigate when you arent pushing a stroller ..
