We will be visiting Disney World for the first time next month. My son is 3 and can walk but requires a stroller for fatigue and mobility issues. I think I've read that we can request his stroller be treated as a wheelchair. Is there any benefit to doing this? Are you normally allowed to take strollers through most ride lines? We will need to have his stroller available while waiting but we can easily transfer him to the ride or he can walk if he's doing ok.

I believe we will request a DAS due to his other issues, but we will need his stroller even for short waits.

You need to get the stroller as wheelchair tag or you cant take it into lines or restaurants and some of the indoor attractions at epcot. It will not allow you to leave it unfolded on the bus but otherwise the stroller with a tag can go anywhere. Request it at the same time as das, its just a sticker that goes on the stroller. Be prepared to explain why the stroller tag doesnt meet all his needs when requesting the das

Just adding to the above post, yes its worth it.. there are a number of reasons why a child would need their stroller as a wheelchair.. the main one is endurability.. Disneyland days are LONG.. and if your child already has mobility issues Im assuming endurability would go hand in hand with those issues.. he may not need it at the start of the day, but by the end you will be needing it.. and you will be very glad he has it, while in line he can nap . or even just block out the wonderful noises , sights and smells with a blanket over the top. that way he can decompress a bit. My son actually needs movement to regulate , but he needs sunglasses , ear buds, and hat AND his hoodie over the hat to decompress. plus he is nearly 6ft so he wont fit in a stroller anymore.. Hope you all have a great trip !!!

Without the stroller as wheelchair tag, most lines and attractions do not allow strollers. So, you will need the tag to use it in lines/attractions.
It’s separate from DAS - some people need both, some people only need one. So, be prepared to explain why you need both

if you need a stroller in lines then you need the stroller as a wheelchair tag you get that at same place and time as DAS. strollers are not allowed in lines or buildings as the Land at EPCOT. only way you could get him to ride without tag would be to carry him. most likely you will not get a DAS for fatigue/mobility issues as the stroller as wheelchair tag is what is used for these issues
