Strike yer colors, you brazen wench, no need to expose yer superstructure! New p. 16

I love the DLH too but to me, it doesn't offer the same resort and luxurious feel that the GCV do.

No, you're right but when you look at the new rooms it definitely brings up the DLH. To me the magic of the DLH is huge.

I love and agree about the DLH. :thumbsup2 It's totally magical. We spent Christmas there in 2005, surprise trip for the kids and it was fantastic. I didn't love the GCH until they got the Villas. Their standard rooms seem a little smaller than the DLH rooms but it could be the decor. There is something about granite counter tops that tickle my fancy. :lmao:

I swear as I've aged, where I lay my head has become as important as where I spend my days.

Our friends just stayed there and got upgraded to a uite at the DLH and said it was unreal. Can you imagine?

You see my thoughts for the GCH comes from the standard rooms so that slants it. Someday I will stay at the villas. I would love to stay in a suite.

My friend didn't even take photos of the suite :scared1:

You should rent points when you want to stay there. I see them on average for $10 a point. For example your Valentine's Day trip would be $170 a night if you rented a Studio for you and DH at $10 a point. I know you are staying at Ayers for V Day but just a thought for future trips. :goodvibes

I have thought about doing the renting of the points and I probably will at some point. The Valentines trip is sans cost so I am definitely staying at the Ayres. I just realized earlier that this week coming up I can do my ADRs.

I cannot believe you won the hotel and hoppers- that's so cool. What PS are you making?

I also have two other free nights so our stay is completely free! I am thinking that I want to eat at either Cafe Orleans, the Big Thunder Bbq or Goofy's Kitchen. Scotty would prefer Goofy's so that is probably the way we will go. He loves the character interaction.:rotfl:

What is Cafe Orleans specialty? I haven't been there in years.

For most people it's the Pommes Frites or the Mickey Mouse shaped beignets. I like their gumbo and I just like the location.

We go there for the Monte Cristo. When they did the remodel and changed the menu, they added the same Monte Cristo that you can get at Blue Bayou, but it is cheaper. For the past couple years when we crave a Monte Cristo, we call in a reservation at Cafe Orelans for the mid afternoon about 2:00 on the same day and drive in for that resevervation.

For our February trip we need to call in for a Blue Bayou resevation. it has to be early so we get a waterfront table. I NEED TO call ASAP!

pirate: It's amazing. I am working on my update now. :surfweb: Promise you will stay there and not the DLH when you go, at least for your first trip. :flower3: We can now use points for regular hotel rooms at the GCV. My guess is it will be $$$ though.

I'm torn. I do love the new room decor at DLH.
We're planning on February 2013. I compared room costs for February, April, and December. February was so much cheaper. I'm hoping that translates into low crowds. Also, we want to go once Cars Land is open. I would have liked to DLR sooner, but we're going to WDW for 2 weeks in August and possibly for a long weekend in October. Plus, WDW is much cheaper (well, as cheap as WDW can be:rotfl:) for us. We're buying APs in August and flights from NYC to MCO are usually much cheaper than flights from NYC to LAX. I am considering flying into San Diego and staying at the Four Seasons for a couple of nights. Then, driving up to DLR for 5-6 nights. OR Las Vegas for a couple of nights, then fly to So. Cal. I have lots ot time to plan that one.

Are you planning a DLR triip in 2012?

I love how festive Small World looks.
You lucked out with low crowds. Not having to wait hours and hours does make the trip more magical.

Water front is a total must for the Blue Bayou!

The Monte Cristo would be right up Chloe's alley: ham, cheese, bread, and sweet. Do they offer one anywhere in WDW?

:thanks: Are the pomme frites regular or sweet potatoes? I know sweet are all the rage but I like white or red potatoes. The location is terrific.

We're he exact opposite; flights from SLC to LGB are so reasonable. Our flights right now to MCO are hovering between $450-500 per person. :faint: San Diego is beautiful but expect chilly in February. Not NYC cold but not beach weather.

If your paying cash then definitely give the DLH a try. :thumbsup2 It's magical. The kids will love Gooofy's Kitchen. And he cool new pool!

We don't have any plans for Disneyland in 2012. Yet. I'd love to go to So Cal and Vegas for my birthday in March, sans kids. We'll see but with our mega WDW trip in October and Chloe's bat mitzvah, braces blah blah blah it might not be in the cards.

We totally lucked out! I think our longest line was Autopia on the last day but that line always sucks!

Sorry for the typos. I'm on my phone and they are impossible to fix as I can't see the entire screen after I post.

If we pay cash, the difference in price from DLH and GCH isn't a deal breaker. I want to stay where we're going to have the best experience overall. I love the entrance to DCA. That might seal the deal for us.

How is Anaheim weather in February?

Is that the same as Tomorrowland Speedway? My nephews love that ride and I HATE it. The line moves so slowly!

Wow, you really lucked-out with the low crowds! Interesting that there may have been an "altercation" at the WoC....I bet people were disappointed that it got cut short.
