I know a lot of people here are from Illinois, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has been to the Streets of Woodfield, in Schaumburg, IL, at night lately? We go shopping during the day a lot, but haven't been there in the evening for a long time. Over the weekend, we went to see a movie there around 7ish. (For those of you who aren't familiar its like an outdoor strip mall with a movie theater and Gameworks and Starbucks, etc). Anyway, when we left the movie, we couldn't believe it. There were crowds of people just hanging out there - which wouldn't be too big of a deal except that about half of them looked like they were out just looking for trouble (trying to explain politely). Also, there were cops around everywhere, which is great, but also tells us that they've had trouble there before. Then the other half were a lot of younger high schoolish age kids and the girls were dressed unbelievably! A lot of them had skirts, if you call them that, that looked about an inch long. There's no way I would want a teenage daughter hanging out there! Maybe we're just out of it lately, but it didn't seem like a safe place for them. Just my opinion, but has anyone else noticed this?

My sentiments exactly!! We don't go there for the movies very often for some of those reasons. And it seems that the movies are always WAY more packed with teenagers than other places. I like teenagers. I was a teenager not all that many years ago. But they make me nuts during a movie. And SURELY I wasn't THAT annoying!! :jester: If we go tehre for a movie, we usually go to a weekend matinee, in hopes of avoiding so much of the late-night crowd.

Yes, there is a problem there. One of the Dad's from DD's soccer team is a Schaumburg detective and he has told us to keep DS 15 away at night. They have been drag racing and ramming cars. They had all the exits blocked one night while doing this.

Very sad it such a nice shopping and entertainment area.:(

I have only been there once, to go to Gameworks. There was a loud, rowdy group of people there that night with funny names and wierd senses of humor. I heard one called Dopeygirl, another Brisully, another kept being paged as Doctor P....LOL. It seemed like a very nice center, but we were not there after dark and I can see how it might get bad.

LOL Dr. P!

It makes me sad to hears stories like this about our young people. Sounds like an old James Dean movie

Don't forget that big, tall man who walked into and STOPPED right in the middle of traffic to take a PIC!!! ROFL

Honestly though, when we left it wasn't quite dark yet and, the 'streets' seemed just like the name, 'streets'. People walking around, no obvious signs of danger IMO. But then again, the crowd you mention probably comes out later than we were leaving. Sorry you experienced this. It did seem nice to me (during the day anyway). :(

Ooooooh.....that big tall man was the scariest guy I have ever seen. He was there with his wife---Danny and Marie if I recall correctly. They seemed to be really embarassing that poor woman from Ohio who was with them (helenabear). Thanks for the memory, Kim! ;) ;)

LOL :teeth: You guys are too funny! Thanks for that memory though, that was a fun day (being embarassed and all ;)) I do think the place seemed nice and not dangerous to be around when we were there, but as Kim said, we weren't there that late and I am sure that those people come out later.

I knew you Chicago DISers were trying to lure us poor unsuspecting Michiganders into a 'questionable' neighborhood:eek:   ;)

That's why we left sooooooooooo early;)

Seriously tho, sorry to hear about the situation:(

I was around there last week to have dinner at Maggiano's. There is always an overabundance of teenagers hanging out at the theaters and GameWorks at night, but I personally have never seen any major trouble. Being there did make me resolve to never let my 13 year old daughter go there after dark. I can't imagine what some of those parent must be thinking. The girls dress like streetwalkers, and some of them look like only 13-14 years old!
