We will be in DCA on Monday Sept 18 and want to experience the racers at night. I'm concerned that fast passes will either run out or that the return time will be so long that we will tie up our fast pass getting ability for a large chunk of the day. Is there a strategy for this or can anyone guess at the wait time? We definitely want to have time to get to WOC.

You could try the single rider line....

We were there this past weekend and was able to get a Fast Pass after lunch, like around 2pm, for a 7pm ride. Check the app and watch the trends of when they run out.

Just keep watching FP return times on the app and head over when it gets close to the time you want. Keep in mind that it will be a little later by the time you get there and pull one.

As PP mentioned, it will only be 2 hours (or 90 minutes on Maxpass) until you can pull a new FP.

That's my goal next week too! I agree, the app will tell you the current FP return times so stay on top of that.

If you get to the park at rope drop, you can get a bunch of rides in first thing in the morning so it doesn't feel like as big of a deal to have a 120/90 minute wait to pull the next one. As others have already said, keep an eye on the FP return windows (and add about 15-20 minutes for buffer if you are doing regular FP). When we were there last, that time was usually between 12:00 and 1:30. This was right before we were ready to take a break anyway - whether back to the hotel, poke around the stores, have a long lunch, go to a show.

When we were there in mid-August we were able to get RSR FPs for around 8 at about 2 PM. The main thing you need to watch is not being able to pull RSR before they run out because your FP window is blocked out by another FP you pulled too late. Be cautious about pulling other FPs after 12 noon or so.

Looking at the schedule for that day, DCA closes at 8pm and WOC is at 8:15. It's not really dark until 8pm though, so you will not get a true night ride on RSR if you're trying to see WOC too. I think most people suggest getting a spot for WOC about 45-60min before the show. That means you need to be done with RSR by 7:15, which is more like dusk. I would watch the app these next few days to see what time you may need to pull a FP for a return time between 6-7pm. I'm guessing you won't need to pull it until noon, at the earliest, which gives you the morning and most of the afternoon to pull other FPs.

Thanks everyone. I forgot the paper fp rule that you can get another after the 2 hr window! I'm so used to the WDW fp system now. That makes it a bit easier.
